Hedleyhope Fell

Cornsay is a hamlet and civil parish in County Durham, England. The population of the Civil Parish taken at the 2011 census was 1,128. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Consett and 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Durham. It consists of nineteen dwellings, including four farms & is the home of Greenacres nudist club. All formerly belonged to Ushaw College for the training of Catholic priests, hence the organised nomenclature. East and West Farms are now in private hands as homes but the other two are still active, South Farm run by the Suddes family and North Farm by the Tweddle family. On the village green is the enigmatic "draw well": on first look a bus shelter but, on closer inspection, a building with a 17th-century dedication. It was once the main source of water for the village, and later a site for the sale of paraffin at a time when the village was larger. It was restored in 2007 by the removal of a breeze-block infill that had blocked the doorway and now has a new wrought-iron gate that allows inspection of the interior of the building. East Hedleyhope is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated about 8 miles (13 km) west of Durham, up the Deerness valley. The main village comprises two streets, West View and Deerness View; there are also a few houses on the other side of the football pitch. In total there are approximately forty homes.

Satley is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England, with a population of 292 in 2001, falling to 282 at the 2011 Census. It is situated six miles to the south of Consett on the B6296 road near the A68. The village of Satley lies in a narrow valley between Lanchester and Tow Law. It was long ago part of the large parish of Lanchester, but has become a parish in its own right in 1834. The Satley Parish Council meets often and is part of the County Durham Association of Local Councils, they attempt to solve issues in the village by meeting with Durham County Council or solving them internally. Satley has a long history, with archaeological evidence dating back as far as the Bronze Age, even today buildings such as the church which was built in 1816 still stands. Today Satley is a thriving village in the farming community. Many of the local services have shut down and many of the locals commute further afield to work, but many basic local facilities still remain. The farming village is also near the tourist attraction Hall Hill Farm. Oddly, the village has the dialling code 01388 which is generally thought of as a South Durham area code, most notably for Bishop Auckland however the village is very firmly a North Durham village, having previously been administered by Derwentside District Council.

Sunniside is a small rural village to the east of Tow Law and north of Crook in County Durham, England. Sunniside has one pub, and a former post office. There is a collection of newly built homes in the west of the village, called The Paddock. There are five streets, Gladstone Terrace, Flag Terrace, Front Street (the main street) Garden Terrace, and a little offshoot along a back road to Roddymoor, called Grahams Cottages.

Newbiggin is a farm in the civil parish of Lanchester, in the County Durham district, in the ceremonial county of Durham, England. It is situated 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the west of the village of Lanchester.

Longovicium (or Lanchester Roman Fort) was an auxiliary fort located on Roman Dere Street, in the Roman province of Britannia Inferior. It is located just southwest of Lanchester (grid reference NZ159469) in the English county of Durham, roughly 8 miles (13 km) to the west of the city of Durham and 5 miles (8 km) from Consett.

The Church of St Philip and St James is a church in Tow Law, County Durham, England. The church was designed by architect Charles Hodgson Fowler (1840-1910) and completed in 1869. Built of sandstone, the decorated church features a south-west tower. It became a Grade II listed building on 5 June 1987. The church is administered as one of The Four Parishes - including St Mary & St Stephen Wolsingham, St Bartholomew Thornley Village and St.Cuthbert Satley.

Butsfield is a village in County Durham, England. It is situated a few miles to the south of Consett, near the village of Satley. Butsfield Burn Farm is the farm located at the centre of the Butsfield area. Butsfield was the site of the murder of council officer Harry Collinson by Albert Dryden in June 1991.

Tow Law is a town and civil parish in County Durham, England. It is situated a few miles to the south of Consett and 5 miles to the north west of Crook. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,952, increasing to 2,138 at the 2011 Census.The main road through the town is the A68, which starts in Darlington and goes on north, ending near Dalkeith, just south-east of Edinburgh. The River Deerness rises from a spring on the eastern edge of the town.Tow Law Town football club is based in the town. The town is mentioned in Mark Knopfler's song "Hill Farmer's Blues" from his album The Ragpicker's Dream.
