Colden Common

Twyford Moors is a hamlet in the civil parish of Colden Common in the City of Winchester district of Hampshire, England. It is 1+1⁄4 miles (2.0 km) south of Twyford and its nearest town is Winchester, which lies approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north from the hamlet.

In 2001, the population of the parish was 1,456. The village and parish are on the left bank of the Itchen, which passes through nearby watermeadows, and has been important economically for its residents.

Twyford Waterworks is a preserved pumping station and waterworks situated close to the village of Twyford and the city of Winchester in Hampshire, England. It is a scheduled monument and now operates as a museum. The site is leased by the Twyford Waterworks Trust and is open on selected days during the year.The waterworks were originally built for the South Hampshire Water Company in 1898 to supply water to Winchester and Southampton. They were extended over the years, including in 1913 to accommodate a new steam engine and boilers, and again in 1930s. The site passed to the Southern Water Authority in 1974, the year after it had been scheduled as a monument. The redundant parts of the site were leased to the Twyford Waterworks Trust in 1992.

Shawford railway station serves the villages of Twyford, Compton and Shawford in Hampshire, England. It is 69 miles 50 chains (112.1 km) down the line from London Waterloo. This station and all trains serving it are operated by South Western Railway.

Shawford Down is a 19.6-hectare (48-acre) Local Nature Reserve south of Winchester in Hampshire. It is owned by Hampshire County Council and managed by Hampshire Countryside Service.The down has strip lynchets, dating to the period in the Middle Ages when the area was cultivated as common land. The site has a range of chalk grassland habitats, with flora including wild parsnip, red bartsia, cowslip and common rock-rose. There are also areas of woodland and scrub.

Compton and Shawford is a civil parish in the City of Winchester district, immediately southwest of the city, in Hampshire, England. Its main settlements are the villages of Compton and Shawford.

Hockley Meadows is a 9-hectare (22-acre) nature reserve south of Winchester in Hampshire. It is managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. It is part of the River Itchen SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and Special Area of Conservation.This site has water meadows, a stream, willow carr, reedbeds and grassland, which is maintained by cattle grazing. There are brown trout in the stream and flowering plants include southern marsh orchids, water avens and cuckoo flowers.

Otterbourne is a village in Hampshire, England. It is located approximately four miles (6.4 km) south of Winchester and eight miles (13 km) north of Southampton. At the 2011 census, its population was 1,539, and there were 626 dwellings.There are three public houses in the village: the White Horse Inn, the Otter, and the Old Forge. There is also a school, a post office and village shop. Before the 21st century, the post office and village shop were located opposite Cranbourne Drive at the bottom of Otterbourne Hill. However, at the end of the 1990s, the car garage at the centre of the village was rebuilt to include a petrol station and convenience store. Shortly after the opening of the convenience store, the village shop closed; the store then expanded to include a post office, taking over all previous functions of the old village shop. Until late 2007 the convenience store was running under a SPAR franchise. It was then taken over by Budgens. It has subsequently been taken over by Nisa Local convenience store, and the petrol station has been decommissioned. In the early hours of 30 November 2015, William's Garage beside Budgens suffered from a fire.The Otterbourne Brass, performs in Otterbourne Village Hall every Christmas and concerts in and around the surrounding area. The band also competes in the 1st Section of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain. Famous people from Otterbourne include Chris Tremlett who plays cricket for England and Surrey and novelist Charlotte Mary Yonge.

The Church of St Mary's is an Anglican Church in Bishopstoke, Hampshire. St Mary's was designed by Edward Prioleau Warren and built during 1890/91 by Wheeler Bros. of Reading, Berkshire at a cost of £4,200. It was consecrated on 12 November 1891 by the Bishop of Guildford. Financial limitations meant that a Perpendicular tower included in the design had to be added later and this was completed in 1909. This church replaced an earlier building called St Mary's Church which stood on a different site nearer to the River Itchen, (at 50.97224°N 1.33923°W / 50.97224; -1.33923). It had been rebuilt in 1825, but by 1908 had been completely demolished.

Bishopstoke is a village and civil parish in the Eastleigh district of Hampshire, England. It is recorded as "Stoke" as early as 948 AD when King Eadred granted land there to a thegn called Aelfric. Stoke later came into the possession of the Bishops of Winchester, giving rise to the modern name. The village is about a mile east of Eastleigh town centre, and is on the eastern bank of the River Itchen. It adjoins Fair Oak on the east. The parish of Bishopstoke was annexed to Eastleigh in 1899. It was later re-established as a parish in 1995. The village forms part of the South Hampshire urban area.
