Cranbrook is a new town being developed in East Devon, England, which at the 2021 census, had a population of 6,743 residents across 8 "phases". However, the town is growing at a fast pace. It is located 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) east-north-east of the centre of Exeter, just north-west of the village of Rockbeare, between the B3174 road (London Road and former A30) and the West of England Main Line railway. The civil parish was formed on 1 April 2015.The ideas and requirements to construct houses on greenfield land in the area were first proposed in 1995, and appeared in both the Devon 2001-2016 Structure Plan and the East Devon Local Plan 1995-2001. The first houses were occupied as St Martin's C of E Primary school was completed in 2012 and at least 500 houses had been occupied by December 2013. As of March 2021, the Cranbrook Parish had rapidly grown to a population of 6,743. Some of the town's main house builders include - but are not limited to- Persimmon Homes, Bovis, Redrow, Linden, Charles Church and Taylor Wimpey alongside smaller independent builders and a handful of self-build homes. In September 2018 Cranbrook hosted the start of Stage 2 of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain cycle race.

Whimple is a village and civil parish in East Devon in the English county of Devon, approximately 9 miles (14 km) due east of the city of Exeter, and 3 miles (4.8 km) from the nearest small town, Ottery St Mary. It has a population of 1,642, recounted to 1,173 for the village alone in the United Kingdom Census 2011. The electoral ward with the same name had a population of 2,380 at the above census.

Exeter has a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence (Number P759) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction. The airport offers both scheduled and holiday charter flights within the United Kingdom and Europe. In 2007, the airport handled over 1 million passengers per year for the first time, although passenger throughput subsequently declined, recovering to 931,000 passengers in 2018. In 2019, passenger numbers once again passed the 1 million mark, due in part to Ryanair operating several new flights to/from the airport. Prior to its collapse in 2020, the airline Flybe accounted for over 80% of the airport's passenger numbers. Passenger numbers declined sharply to 148,000 in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aylesbeare is a village and civil parish in the East Devon district of Devon, England, 8 miles (13 km) east of Exeter. According to the 2001 census the parish, which includes the hamlet of Nutwalls, had a population of 527. Known for the Site of Special Scientific Interest on Aylesbeare Common [1] that is managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Aylesbeare was in the news during 1978 as the scene of the unresolved disappearance of the schoolgirl Genette Tate. Aylesbeare is on the northern side of the East Devon Pebbled Heathlands. Locally known as Woodbury Common, the heathlands are made up of 8 parish commons, including Aylesbeare Common.

Cranbrook railway station serves the new town of Cranbrook near Exeter in Devon, England. The station is on the West of England Main Line between Whimple and Pinhoe stations, 166 miles 15 chains (267.5 km) down the line from London Waterloo. It is the newest station on the line, having opened in December 2015. Despite being the closest station to Exeter Airport (2.2 miles away), there is not yet a public transport link between the two, but in 2015 a direct bus route was expected to be introduced after the station's completion, to help improve the town's poor level of bus service.

Rebuilt in 1870, it retains its original Norman font. One of its most famous incumbents was John Travers (died 1620), a Nottingham man who was brother to the famous puritan cleric Walter Travers and who was related by marriage to another, Richard Hooker.

Clyst St Lawrence is a village and civil parish about 8 miles north-east of the city of Exeter in the county of Devon, England. Historically it formed part of Cliston Hundred. The parish is in the East Devon district and is surrounded, clockwise from the north, by the parishes of Clyst Hydon, Whimple and the large parish of Broad Clyst. In 2001 its population was 105, little changed from the 113 people who lived there in 1901.The parish church, which is dedicated to St Lawrence, was founded in 1203 or earlier and it retains its granite font of that date.
