St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Appleby Magna is a Grade II* listed parish church in the Church of England in Appleby Magna, Leicestershire

Sir John Moore Church of England Primary School, previously known as Appleby Grammar School, is a junior school situated in the village of Appleby Magna, in Leicestershire, England. The school was constructed between 1693 and 1697, based on an original design by Sir Christopher Wren and Sir William Wilson. The school was established and financed by Sir John Moore, the younger son of the local squire who became Lord Mayor and Alderman of London. The school occupies an elevated position to the south of the village and sits in its own walled, landscaped grounds totaling just over 3.5 acres (14,000 m2). The main school building is Grade I listed; the gates, gatepiers, wall and outbuildings are all Grade II listed. The primary school was rated "outstanding" in its last Ofsted inspection.

Appleby Hall was a manor house or stately home built in the small hamlet of Appleby Parva, on the outskirts of Appleby Magna. A Manor was mentioned in the Domesday Book and there have been several houses on the site until the final building, a Classical style Stately Home known as Appleby Hall, was built in the 1830s. Like many landed families, the Moore family who owned it fell on hard times, and the Hall was demolished in the 1920s.

Appleby Parva, or Little Appleby (Known locally as Over-Town), part of the parish of Appleby Magna in Leicestershire, is a hamlet about 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west of Appleby church. It straddles the A444, south of the crossroads of the highways from Ashby de la Zouch to Tamworth, from Atherstone to Burton upon Trent and Junction 11 of the M42/A42. Appleby Magna and Appleby Parva are usually collectively known as Appleby. The village was also calculated to be the centre of population of Great Britain in 2000, according to research by Professor Danny Dorling.

Stretton en le Field is a small village and civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England, about 7 miles/11 km south-west of Ashby de la Zouch, historically an exclave of Derbyshire. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 36. At the 2011 census the population remained under 100 and so was included in the civil parish of Chilcote. Stretton Bridge carries the A444 road across the River Mease, which forms the northern parish boundary. It is among the Thankful Villages, suffering no Great War fatalities in 1914–1918: eleven men went from the village to fight and all returned.

St Michael's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Stretton en le Field, Leicestershire, England (grid reference SK303119). It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Norton Juxta Twycross, usually known as simply "Norton" (or "Norton-Juxta"), is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Twycross, in the Hinckley and Bosworth district, in the county of Leicestershire, England. The village is part of the church parish of Appleby Magna, with the vicar based in Appleby. In 1931 the parish had a population of 249.

Oakthorpe is a village in north-west Leicestershire, England. In 1086, Oakthorpe was part of Derbyshire and was amongst several manors given to Nigel of Stafford by William the Conqueror. Until 1897 Oakthorpe, and its neighbours Measham and Donisthorpe, continued to form part of an extensive exclave of Derbyshire. Oakthorpe lies within the Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe civil parish, which is part of the district of North West Leicestershire. In the past Oakthorpe's main use was for mining as there were numerous deep active mines in the area, however since the closing down of the mines in the 1990s Oakthorpe has simply become a residential village. Oakthorpe has a Leisure Centre, a Primary School, a Methodist church and an Ale house. Oakthorpe also has several local businesses such as Cosmos Biomedical Ltd, a biomedical distribution and education company, one newsagent and one takeaway. The trunk A42 road divides Oakthorpe from Measham and Saltersford Brook divides it from Donisthorpe.

Measham railway station is a disused railway station that formerly served the village of Measham, North West Leicestershire from 1873 to 1931. The station was on the Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway. The station is the only building on the Ashby - Shackerstone section to still be in situ. The trackbed has since been filled in and is now a footpath to Moira. The goods shed is also still standing at Measham.

Little Orton is a hamlet in the English county of Leicestershire. Little Orton is part of the civil parish of Twycross (where the population is included) ; it is located southwest of the main village being divided from it by the A444 road and Twycross Zoo.

Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe or Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe and Acresford is a civil parish in the North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,336, increasing to 2,637 at the 2011 census. It includes Oakthorpe and Donisthorpe.

Saltersford Wood or Saltersford Valley is a 5.7-hectare (14-acre) Local Nature Reserve north-west of Measham in Leicestershire. It is owned and managed by Leicestershire County Council, and it part of The National Forest. The wood is situated 1 km (0.62 mi) South East of the Saltersford Valley Picnic Area, a twinned Local Nature Reserve also administered by Leicestershire County Council. The two are now separated by Ashby Road and the Donisthorpe Cemetery. This site has native woodland, hay meadows and areas of open water known as "flashes" with fishing platforms for the disabled. The "flashes" are the result of the flooding of Saltersford Brook caused by mining subsidence causing the nearby Saltersford Brook to flood. There are picnic benches and a car park.There is access from Measham Road.
