Lauter (Neckar)

Wendlingen is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is situated on the Neckar and Lauter rivers, 27 km southeast of Stuttgart. The town grew in size, officially, on 1 April 1940, when three separate communities of Wendlingen, Unterboihingen and Bodelshofen merged. The town also is the headquarters of the tool company Festool.

Wendlingen (Neckar) station (formerly Unterboihingen station) is the only station in the town of Wendlingen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg and is a railway junction on the Plochingen–Immendingen railway from which the Teck Railway branches. It is served by regional trains and the Stuttgart S-Bahn.

Köngen is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. About nine kilometers from the district city Esslingen am Neckar and about six kilometers away from Nürtingen. It is part of the Stuttgart Region and the European Stuttgart Metropolitan Region.

Am Rank (Röhmsee) is a nature conservation area, designated by decree of the Regional Council Stuttgart of 16 November 1981, in the Unterensingen municipality of District Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It includes and surrounds a quarry pond named Röhmsee, after a former owner. Together with the Schülesee, the 13-hectare Röhmsee forms a protected area of about 25 hectares. The lakes are a supra-regionally important ecological compensation area with well-developed siltation zones. Lake Röhmsee is important as a resting place for migrating birds and as a refuge for endangered bird species. As the oldest quarry pond still existing in the Neckar river system, it has developed into an important breeding water for birds. Among others, the bittern, the marsh warbler, the coot and the moorhen breed here. The Unterensingen quarry ponds occupy an excellent position as a transit and resting area. In the meantime, 223 species have been recorded in this relatively small area. The area belongs to the Naturraum Filder in the Swabian Keuper-Lias-Land.

Deizisau (Swabian: Deizisao) is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It belongs to the Stuttgart Region (until 1992 Region Mittlerer Neckar) and the Stuttgart Metropolitan Region. Deizisau is located between the towns of Plochingen and Esslingen am Neckar, about 20 kilometers southeast of Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg. The river Neckar flows through this town.

Altbach Power Station is a coal-fired power plant owned and operated by EnBW at Altbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It has an output capacity of 1,036 MWe, 783MW being coal fired divided amongst two 420-30MW units and 253MW of gas fired capacity divided amongst four units ranging from 53-85MW. The power station is also connected to the Mittlerer Neckar district heating system.The first power plant on the Altbach site was built in 1899. The precursors of the current power plant went into service in 1950 (unit 1) and in 1956 and 1958 (units 2 and 3). Unit 1 was shut down in 1982 and demolished in 1985. Units 2 and 3 were shut down and demolished in 1993.Unit 1 was replaced by a new unit in 1985 and units 2 and 3 by a new unit in 1997. Both units have 250 metre tall chimneys.Unit 1 from 1985 received architectural landmark status in November 2021. Like the visitor center and the new Unit 2, it is the work of the German Architect Gerhard Feuser of the group Angerer & Feuser.The power station also features a forced draft cooling tower which is used to cool the remaining water not used in the heating system.

Unterensingen (Swabian: Ondorẽseng) is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.

Körsch (German: [kœʁʃ] ; in its upper course: Sindelbach) is a river of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Neckar at Deizisau.It is the second largest waterbody in Stuttgart and is formed at the convergence of the right Sindelbach and the left Aischbach in Stuttgart-Möhringen. After almost 27 km on the Filder it flows into the Neckar between Esslingen am Neckar and Deizisau.

Oberboihingen is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.

Altbach (Swabian: Albach) is a municipality in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg. It belongs to the Stuttgart Region. (until 1992 Region Mittlerer Neckar) and the European Metropolitan Region Stuttgart.

The Wernau Clay Pit is a nature conservation area in Wernau, Baden-Würtemberg, Germany established by the Stuttgart Regional Commission on April 15, 1986 (NSG 1.143).

The Railway depot Plochingen (dt. Bahnbetriebswerk Plochingen) (short form: Bw Plochingen) is a depot of the DB Regio AG in Plochingen. The depot is located west of the railway station next to the railway tracks leading to Stuttgart and can be reached from the road via the access road to the Neckarharbor. It is responsible for the maintenance of the Trains of the S-Bahn Stuttgart. Furthermore, it also looks after multiple units of the Regionalverkehr Württemberg. The current depot with the Stuttgart S-Bahn was opened in 1978, after the roundhouse of the old Plochingen depot had been located at about the same place.
