The Wall Street Assay Office is a historic commercial building related to precious metal mining in the western outskirts of Boulder, Colorado in an area known as Wall Street. Once a thriving mining town in Boulder County's foothills area, Wall Street is now home to a few dozen residential properties scattered among the remnants of the Storm King mine. The Wall Street Assay Office sits on Four Mile Canyon Dr, now preserved as the James F. Bailey Assay Office Museum. The Wall Street area was home to a variety of metal mining activities in the late 1800s, including a small camp named Delphi. Charles Caryl visited the area in 1889, returned east to raise money, and opened the Gold Extraction Mining and Supply Company in present-day Wall Street in 1897. The Assay Office was constructed along with a store and boarding house, a large mill was built in 1901. The operation failed two years later. The assay office was purchased at a sheriff's sale by James Bailey in 1907. It was used as the office of the Storm King Mine, and later converted into a residence for the Bailey family.

Fourmile Canyon or Four Mile Canyon is a mountainous canyon in western Boulder County, Colorado that channels a stream known as Fourmile Creek or Four Mile Creek (this is not Fourmile Canyon Creek which runs a few miles north of Fourmile Creek).). The stream rises at 40.048°N 105.550°W / 40.048; -105.550 on the southern slope of Niwot Mountain, before flowing east and south through the unincorporated communities of Sunset, Wallstreet, Salina and Crisman to the confluence with Boulder Creek at 40.015°N 105.324°W / 40.015; -105.324 in Boulder Canyon, four miles west of the historic location of the Boulder Railroad Depot. The canyon and surrounding area were the site of an eponymous major wildfire in September 2010.

Salina is a former mining town in Boulder County, Colorado, United States, approximately 7 miles (11 km) west of Boulder. Established in 1874, after Colorado's first gold discovery in 1859, Salina was founded by miners who migrated to Boulder from Salina, Kansas. It is located at the junction of Four Mile Canyon and Gold Run roads. The mining camp was originally accessible only by horseback or wagons pulled by mules but later became part of Colorado's Switzerland Trail when the Greeley, Salt Lake, & Pacific narrow gauge railroad was built in the early 1880s. Today, most of Salina's original structures still stand, including the one-room schoolhouse, Salina School, and church, the Little Church in the Pines, despite some impact from the Fourmile Canyon wildfire in 2010 and historic flooding during the 2013 Colorado floods.

Sugarloaf (also spelled Sugar Loaf) is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Boulder County, Colorado, United States. The Little Church in the Pines is a c. 1902-1908 building in the former mining town of Salina in Boulder County, Colorado. The church held regular Sunday School classes for children, and services whenever a traveling minister came to town. As the mining boom came to an end and the town's population shrunk, the building fell into disuse, and briefly served as a mine office before being abandoned. In 1948 it was purchased by a neighborhood group and has been used ever since for nondenominational worship and community events. The Little Church in the Pines was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. During the 2013 Colorado floods, the ground washed out from underneath half of the building, including the bell tower, and emergency supports had to be installed to stabilize the structure until a new foundation could be built and the area refilled.

The Salina School, also known as the Salina Schoolhouse, is a one-room schoolbuilding in the former mining town of Salina in Boulder County, Colorado, built around 1875 or 1876. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Throughout the mining boom, the schoolhouse functioned as a hub of social activity in Salina, hosting dances, box socials, and other community activities. Today the building is owned by the Salina Community Association, a nonprofit group of local residents, and maintained as a space for classes, films, concerts, and other community events.

Tall Timber is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Boulder County, Colorado, United States. Gold Hill is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Boulder County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Boulder, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of the Gold Hill CDP was 218 at the United States Census 2020. The Boulder post office (Zip Code 80302) serves the area.Gold Hill is located to the northwest of Boulder, perched on a mountainside above Left Hand Canyon at an elevation of 8,300 feet. Originally a mining camp, it was the site of the first major discovery of gold during the 1859 Colorado Gold Rush and remained an important mining camp throughout the late 19th century, with a population approaching 1500 at its height, before falling into decline. It has been revived somewhat in recent years as a quiet isolated haven, with no paved streets, but easily accessed by dirt roads. The town contains numerous historic wooden structures, some restored in recent years, as well as decaying ruins from its mining heyday. It has a small museum and two-room schoolhouse, the Gold Hill School, which since 1873 has been the oldest continuously operating public school in Colorado. Other businesses include a General Store and a restored inn listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town is laid out on a small grid of dirt streets. Gold Hill is accessible from nearby Left Hand Canyon Road via Lick Skillet Road. Easier approaches to Gold Hill include Sunshine Canyon Road from 4th and Mapleton in Boulder, Gold Run Road from Salina (on Four Mile Canyon Road), and Gold Hill Road from the Peak to Peak Highway (State Highway 72) south of Ward. All of these roads are susceptible to heavy snows during the winter, which at times render Gold Hill inaccessible to vehicles not equipped with chains or four wheel drive. Gold Hill is sometimes labeled a ghost town, which is an inaccurate designation. Gold Hill is part of unincorporated Boulder County, and while it does not have a municipal government, it does have an active town meeting with elected officials.

KRKS-FM (94.7 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Lafayette, Colorado, and serving the Denver-Boulder market and the Denver metropolitan area. The station is owned and operated by the Salem Media Group and it airs a Christian talk and teaching radio format. Its studios and offices are located on South Vaughn Way in Aurora, and the transmitter is located on Lee Hill, northwest of Boulder. KRKS-FM is co-owned AM 990 KRKS. Together, they are known as "The Word." While both KRKS stations broadcast a Christian Talk/Teaching format, they program each station differently.
