Bílina

Bořeň (German: Borschen; 539 m) is a phonolite hill two kilometres south of Bílina in northwest Bohemia, Czech Republic. When seen from the northwest side, the hill has the shape of a lying lion. It is a structure similar to the Devils Tower in Wyoming, and is the largest phonolite structure of its kind in Europe. Bořen dominates both the town Bílina and the Czech Central Mountains, with its distinctive silhouette visible from a number of remote locations. There are also mineral water springs which are the source of Bílinská Kyselka water.

The 2021 Světec train crash was a collision of two freight trains, which occurred at Světec railway station in Světec, Czech Republic on 4 April 2021 at 14:16 CEST. An express freight train (nákladní expres), no. 54334, operated by ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava (UNIDO) and hauled by a CZ Class 753.7, collided with a continuous freight train (průběžný nákladní vlak), no. 66403, operated by ČD Cargo (ČDC) and hauled by a CZ Class 123. The driver of the UNIDO train, which was carrying tank cars filled with propane and butane, died upon impact. The driver of the ČD Cargo train, which was carrying coal, saved himself by jumping out of the locomotive. A fire broke out on one of the locomotives, and 9 firefighter units and an air ambulance responded to the accident. According to preliminary information, the railway signalling had worked correctly, so the accident was probably caused by the UNIDO train driver killed in the crash.The total damage was calculated at about 50 million CZK (34 mil. CZK to the UNIDO train, 9 mil. CZK to the ČDC train, 4.5 mil. CZK to the infrastructure).

Želenice (German: Sellnitz) is a municipality and village in Most District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 500 inhabitants. Želenice lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) north-east of Most, 27 km (17 mi) south-west of Ústí nad Labem, and 70 km (43 mi) north-west of Prague.

The Battle of Sellnitz was fought on 23 September 1438 between the Imperial Saxons and the Hussites. The Saxons were led by Frederick II of Saxony. On his journey to Saxony from Bohemia was accompanied by czech noble Jakoubek of Vřesovice, the former hussite leader (hetman) of the Union of Žatec and Louny, now hetman of the region Litoměřice and Žatec. During their journey they clashed with the hussite army of the Union of Žatec and Louny led by several nobles strengthened by 300 Polish cavalrymen. Jakoubek tried to negotiate with his former companions, but failed. The Saxons won the battle; about 2,000 Hussites were killed, and again as many taken prisoner.

Duchcov Chateau (Czech: Zámek Duchcov; German: Schloss Dux) is a manor house in Duchcov in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It is protected as a national cultural monument. Today the chateau houses a museum with a collection of historic furniture. Also on display is the painting and portrait gallery of the Waldstein family, including portraits of the most famous member of this family, Albrecht von Wallenstein, Duke of Friedland, by Anthony van Dyck. One room is dedicated to Giacomo Casanova, who was employed here as a librarian from 1785 to 1798, and his memoirs Histoire de ma vie were written here in the years before his death in 1798.

Duchcov (Czech pronunciation: [ˈduxtsof]; German: Dux) is a town in Teplice District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 8,700 inhabitants. Duchcov is known for the Duchcov Castle. The historic town centre with the castle complex is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone.

Lahošť (until 2006 Lahošt; German: Loosch) is a municipality and village in Teplice District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants. Lahošť lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) west of Teplice, 20 km (12 mi) west of Ústí nad Labem, and 76 km (47 mi) north-west of Prague.
