Quenzsee

Wendsee is a lake in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated to the west of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, and is one of a number of directly linked lakes, along with the Breitlingsee, Möserscher See, Plauer See, and Quenzsee. The lake has a surface area of 80 hectares (200 acres), and has a maximum depth of 4.9 metres (16 ft). The lake is navigable and has direct access to the Plauer See, and hence the River Havel, at its eastern end, where it is spanned by the Seegartenbrücke. The Elbe–Havel Canal enters the lake at its western end. A short navigable channel also links the southern end of the Wendsee to the Wusterwitzer See. Navigation is administered as part of the Elbe–Havel Canal.

Brandenburg-Görden Prison is located on Anton-Saefkow-Allee in the Görden quarter of Brandenburg an der Havel. Erected between 1927 and 1935, it was built to be the most secure and modern prison in Europe. Both criminal and political prisoners were sent there, as well as people imprisoned for preventive detention or for interrogation and prisoners of war. Built with a capacity of 1,800, it sometimes held over 4,000 during the Nazi era. After the war, East Germany used the prison to incarcerate at least 170,000 people. Prisoners were used for labor, with them making things such as tractors, kitchen furniture, uniforms and radiation suits, electric motors, shoes, and cars.

The Breitlingsee, or Breitling See, is a lake in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated to the west of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, and is one of a number of directly linked lakes, along with the Möserscher See, Plauer See, Quenzsee and Wendsee. The lake has a surface area of 5.13 square kilometres (1.98 sq mi). The navigable River Havel flows through the lake, entering from the east and exiting directly into the Plauer See. Navigation is administered as part of the Untere Havel–Wasserstraße.

The Plane is a river in Brandenburg, Germany, left tributary of the Havel. Its total length is 57 kilometres (35 mi). The Plane originates in the High Fläming Nature Park, near Rabenstein. It flows north through Planetal and Golzow. The Plane joins the Havel in the Breitlingsee lake west of Brandenburg an der Havel.

Brandenburg-Briest Solarpark is photovoltaic power station, located at a former military airfield in Brandenburg, Germany. At the time of its completion, it was the largest solar park in Europe. Equipped with Q-Cells solar modules, it consists of three sections, namely Brandenburg-Briest East (30 MW) Brandenburg-Briest West (30 MW) and Briest-Havelsee (31 MW)that add up to a total installed capacity of 91 megawatts (MW), sufficient to supply the electricity needs of more than 11,500 households.

The Silo Canal, or Silokanal in German, is a canal in the German state of Brandenburg. It provides a short cut for vessels navigating the River Havel, avoiding the winding and constricted navigation through the city of Brandenburg an der Havel. The 5.26-kilometre (3.27 mi) long canal follows the route of the Silograben of 1782, and was constructed between 1907 and 1910. At its upstream end, the Vorstadtschleuse Brandenburg lock descends 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) into the lower level of the Havel, known as the Brandenburger Niederhavel, where a junction is also made with the Beetzsee. From here the canal proper skirts the northern edge of the city, eventually flowing into the Quenzsee, which links to the Plauer See and hence the River Havel and the Elbe–Havel Canal.Whilst commercial shipping uses the Silo Canal, leisure traffic tends to use the older and smaller dimensioned Brandenburg City Canal, which diverges upstream of the Vorstadtschleuse Brandenburg and passes through the city centre, before descending through the Stadtschleuse Brandenburg lock. This traffic then follows the Brandenburger Niederhavel downstream into the Breitlingsee before rejoining the main route in the Plauer See.

The Opelwerk Brandenburg was a truck vehicle assembly plant, located in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany. Built within seven months, it was opened by Adam Opel AG in November 1935 on the re-armament initiative of the Nazi government in order to ensure supplies of Opel Blitz trucks for the Wehrmacht armed forces. By 1944 more than 130,000 medium-weight trucks had been produced at the Brandenburg plant. Devastated by an Allied air raid on 6 August 1944, the facilities were dismantled and shipped east as reparations to the Soviet Union after the war.

Brandenburg an der Havel (German pronunciation: [ˈbʁandn̩bʊʁk ʔan deːɐ̯ ˈhaːfl̩] ; Polabian: Brenna) is a town in Brandenburg, Germany, which served as the capital of the Margraviate of Brandenburg until it was replaced by Berlin in 1417. With a population of 72,040 (as of 2020), it is located on the banks of the River Havel. The town of Brandenburg provided the name for the medieval Bishopric of Brandenburg, the Margraviate of Brandenburg and the current state of Brandenburg. Today, it is a small town compared to nearby Berlin but was the original nucleus of the former realms of Brandenburg and Prussia.

Buckau is a river of Brandenburg, Germany. It flows into the Breitlingsee, which is drained by the Havel, near Brandenburg an der Havel.

The Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (official name German: Technische Hochschule Brandenburg, known as THB or TH Brandenburg) is a University of Applied Science (UAS) located in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany. It was founded in 1992 as the Fachhochschule Brandenburg and became the first Hochschule of Brandenburg an der Havel. The campus of the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences is situated in the Altstadt, in a former military complex from the 19th century. The students of the Brandenburg University of Applied Science are being supervised by about 260 employees. The focus of the courses of studies offered in the three faculties is on the so-called STEM subjects.

Plauer See is a lake in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated to the west of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, and is one of a number of directly linked lakes, along with the Breitlingsee, Möserscher See, Quenzsee and Wendsee. The lake has a surface area of 6.4 square kilometres (2.5 sq mi), and has a maximum depth of 6.7 metres (22 ft). The navigable River Havel flows through the lake, entering from directly from the Breitlingsee, and exiting downstream at Plaue. The Elbe–Havel Canal connects to the River Havel in the Plauer See, having transited the Wendsee. The Silo Canal bypasses a stretch of upstream Havel and enters the Plauer See via the Quenzsee. Navigation is administered as part of the Untere Havel–Wasserstraße.

The Brandenburg Euthanasia Centre (German: NS-Tötungsanstalt Brandenburg), officially known as the Brandenburg an der Havel State Welfare Institute (Landes-Pflegeanstalt Brandenburg a. H.), was a killing centre established in 1939 as part of the Nazi euthanasia programme, known after the war as "Aktion T4". Nearly 10,000 people were murdered there during its operation, primarily those with mental and physical disabilities.
