Langebakkersoord is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It was located northwest of Hoogvliet, on the confluence of the Oude Maas and Nieuwe Maas rivers. Langebakkersoord was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1826, when it merged with Pernis.

The Nieuwe Maas (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌniuə ˈmaːs]; "New Meuse") is a distributary of the Rhine River, and a former distributary of the Maas River, in the Dutch province of South Holland. It runs from the confluence of the rivers Noord and Lek, and flows west through Rotterdam. It ends west of the city where it meets the Oude Maas ("Old Meuse"), near Vlaardingen, to form Het Scheur. After a few miles, the Scheur continues as the artificial Nieuwe Waterweg. The total length of the Nieuwe Maas (excluding the Scheur) is approximately 24 kilometres (15 mi).

The Oude Maas (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʌudə ˈmaːs]; English: Old Meuse) is a distributary of the river Rhine, and a former distributary of the river Maas, in the Dutch province of South Holland. It begins at the city of Dordrecht where the Beneden Merwede river splits into the Noord and the Oude Maas. It ends when it joins the Nieuwe Maas to form Het Scheur.

Vlaardinger-Ambacht is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It covered the countryside around the city of Vlaardingen. The municipality existed between 1817 and 1941, when it became part of Vlaardingen.Before 1817, it was a so-called craftsmanship (an area with a feudal form of government dating back to the Middle Ages, with a 'gentleman' as central person) in the Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland (Delfland Water Board).

Carmarthen Borough Council was a local authority in the central part of Carmarthenshire, Wales created in 1835 under the Municipal Corporations Act 1835. It succeeded the Mayor, Burgesses, and Commonalty of the Borough of Carmarthen established by a Royal Charter of 1604.The authority covered the electoral wards of Carmarthen Town North, Carmarthen Town South, and Carmarthen Town West. The authority was abolished following local government reorganisation in 1974, and its role taken on by Carmarthen District Council. The ceremonial and community council functions were taken on by Carmarthen Town Council.
