Klotzsche

Dresden-Klotzsche (German: Bahnhof Dresden-Klotzsche) is a railway station in the town of Klotzsche, Saxony, Germany. The station lies on the Görlitz–Dresden railway, Dresden-Klotzsche–Königsbrück railway and Dresden-Klotzsche–Dresden Flughafen railway.

Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden (ZMD) was regarded as the heart of East Germany's microelectronics research in the 1980s as well as its most advanced integrated circuit manufacturer. Together with TU Dresden and VEB Spurenmetalle Freiberg, ZMD formed the foundation for Silicon Saxony, a cluster of microelectronics companies that came to include new fabs by Siemens (later Infineon Technologies) and AMD (later GlobalFoundries).

Dresden Grenzstraße is a railway station in Dresden-Klotzsche, Germany. The station is located on the Dresden-Klotzsche–Dresden Flughafen railway. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn, as part of the Dresden S-Bahn.

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (literally: Elbe aircraft factory, commonly abbreviated as EFW) is an aerospace manufacturer based in Dresden, Germany. It was established during 1955 as VEB Flugzeugwerke Dresden (VEB). Early projects included the licensed production of Ilyushin Il-14 airliners and the development of an indigenously developed four-engine jetliner, the Baade 152, which was terminated during the flight-testing phase following the loss of the first prototype. Between 1961 and 1990, the majority of VEB's activities centered around support and overhaul services for Soviet-designed fighters and helicopters for Warsaw Pact air forces, as well as the civil airliners of the East German airline Interflug. The company underwent drastic restructuring following the reunification of Germany in 1990, quickly becoming aligned with Deutsche Airbus. EFW is currently a joint venture between the multinational aerospace company Airbus (45%) and the Singapore-based ST Aerospace (55%) Since the end of the Cold War, the company has largely focused on servicing airliners and the conversion of passenger airliners into dedicated freighter and aerial refuelling tanker configurations. EFW is also a supplier of Airbus, producing fiber composite sheets for aircraft interiors.

Dresden Flughafen (German: Bahnhof Dresden Flughafen) is an underground railway station at the Airport serving the city of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. The station, along with the 1.15 km long extension of the Klotzsche–Grenzstraße railway to Dresden Airport opened on 25 March 2001. The station was the first and, until the opening of the Leipzig City Tunnel, the only underground station in Saxony. In addition, it was the first station in Saxony and the eighth in Germany at an airport.

The Air War School Klotzsche (German: Luftkriegsschule Klotzsche) also known as Luftkriegsschule 1 (LKS 1) was a former Luftwaffe school in the Dresden borrow Klotzsche. The Air War School Klotzsche was built in 1935 according to the design by Ernst Sagebiel together with the architect Walter and John Krüger. The school was used during the Third Reich until it was disbanded on 5 March 1945.

The State Museum of Zoology (German: Staatliches Museum für Tierkunde) in Dresden is a natural history museum that houses 10,000–50,000 specimens, including skeletons and large insect collections. Many are types. The collection suffered war damage and whilst catalogued the database is not computerized. Loans are possible and material can be studied in the collection. The address is Augustusstrasse 2, D-01067 Dresden, Germany. The museum's collections contain more than 6 million items from all over the world. The museum publishes the scientific journal Vertebrate Zoology.

Dresden Airport (IATA: DRS, ICAO: EDDC) is the international airport of Dresden, the capital of the German Free State of Saxony. It is located in Klotzsche, a district of Dresden 9 km (5.6 mi) north of the city centre. It was formerly also known in German as Flughafen Dresden-Klotzsche. Destinations from the airport include a few European cities and several holiday destinations. Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), a subsidiary of ST Aerospace and Airbus, is based at the airport. EFW is mainly tasked with freighter conversions.

Hellerau is a northern quarter (Stadtteil) in the city of Dresden, Germany, slightly south of Dresden Airport. It was the first garden city in Germany. The northern section of Hellerau absorbed the village of Klotzsche, where some 18th century buildings remain.

Dresden Industriegelände (German: Haltepunkt Dresden Industriegelände) is a railway station in the city of Dresden, Saxony, Germany. The station lies on the Görlitz–Dresden railway.

Georg Ludwig Rudolf Maercker (21 September 1865 in Baldenburg – 31 December 1924 in Dresden) was a German general of World War I. Following the Armistice of 1918 that saw the end of fighting and of the Bolshevik revolution that led to the creation of the Soviet Union, there were many examples of disturbances throughout Germany. Maercker suggested the formation of Freikorps (Free Corps) to suppress these and a number of formations formed themselves, usually around individual army officers. After leaving the Freikorps, Maercker became active in Der Stahlhelm group and was the president of the Saxony chapter. In 1924, Maercker together with Theodor Duesterberg was a leader of the anti-Semitic fraction within the Stahhelm who wanted an "Aryan clause" that would ban Jews from joining the Stahlhelm and expel the current Jewish members. In March 1924, Maercker and Duesterberg got their way and forced Franz Seldte to adopt the "Aryan clause" and expel all Jews from the Stahlhelm.

The Nordfriedhof ("Northern Cemetery") in Dresden is the former military cemetery of the capital of Saxony, now used as a public cemetery. The Nordfriedhof is in the district of Albertstadt and is situated to the north-east of the inner city, near the south-western edge of the Dresdner Heide. Near the cemetery grounds of about 4 hectares, accessible via the Marienallee as well as the Kannenhenkelweg, are the Army Officer School and the Cemetery of the Soviet Garrison of Dresden (Sowjetischer Garnisonfriedhof Dresden). It was established in 1900 as the "Garrison Cemetery" (Garnisonfriedhof) to deal with the fatalities from the nearby military hospital and was subsequently enlarged. After the end of World War II it was turned into a civilian cemetery and renamed.
