Bretten station

Bretten (German: [ˈbʁɛtn̩] ; South Franconian: Bredde) is a town in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located on Bertha Benz Memorial Route.

The Melanchthonhaus is a museum and research facility of the Protestant Reformation in Bretten, particularly on the life of Philipp Melanchthon. It includes an exhibition on his life, a research centre, a specialist library and a documentation centre of the international Melanchthon-Forschung. The library contains around 11,000 books about the history of the Reformation. It was built in 1897 on the site of Melanchthon's birthplace, which had been demolished in 1689. Its design by Johannes Vollmer was inspired by the church historian Nikolaus Müller. It was built by Hermann Billing and Wilhelm Jung and opened on 25 June 1903.

Gondelsheim is a municipality in Northern Karlsruhe district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is located on Bertha Benz Memorial Route 3 km northwest of Bretten and shares a direct border with that city. Sights are the gothic-revival castle with the Old Tower and a replica of the Three Dancing Maidens fountain. The castle was inherited by Countess Louise von Langenstein und Gondelsheim, an illegitimate daughter of Louis I, Grand Duke of Baden, who in 1848 married the Swedish Count Carl Israel Wilhelm Douglas (1824–1898). Count Ludwig Wilhelm August von Langenstein and Gondelsheim had today's palace built in 1857. The Douglas family, living in Langenstein Castle, sold it in 2010.

Knittlingen is a town in the Enz district in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It lies at the eastern edge of the Kraichgau in the centre of a rectangle that is formed by Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, and Stuttgart. The centre of Knittlingen consists of many old half-timbered houses.

The Kraichgau (German: [ˈkʁaɪçɡaʊ] ) is a hilly region in Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany. It is bordered by the Odenwald and the Neckar to the North, the Black Forest to the South, and the Upper Rhine Plain to the West. To the east, its boundary is considered to be the Stromberg and the Heuchelberg. The largest towns of the Kraichgau are Sinsheim, Eppingen, and Bretten. On the western end of the Kraichgau is the town of Bruchsal, the gateway to the Rhineland plains.

Gochsheim Castle (German: Graf-Eberstein-Schloss, or the Castle of Count Eberstein) is an old royal residence in the Kraichtal area of Baden-Württemberg, in the north-eastern part of Karlsruhe, Germany. It currently houses a museum and holds around 100 works of local artist Karl Hubbuch who died in 1979. The castle fell into the ownership of Frederick August of Württemberg-Neuenstadt after his marriage on 9 February 1679 to Countess Albertine Sophie Esther, the last remaining member of the family of the Counts of Eberstein (now known as Alt-Eberstein). The newlyweds had the castle renovated and used it as their residence from 1682 onwards but it was ransacked by French invaders during a campaign of the War of the Grand Alliance, during which Frederick August withdrew to take up residence in Neuenstadt. The castle was reconstructed after the war ended in 1700, after which Gochsheim once again became a ducal residence. Frederick August died in 1716. On the death of his wife in 1728, Gochsheim returned to the main ducal line. The upper floor now houses the world's largest collection of irons, around 1,300 examples collected by Heinrich Sommer, as well as works by theologian, local historian and artist Dr. Carl Krieger and Margarethe Krieger.

Walzbachtal is a municipality in northwestern Karlsruhe district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was formed from the villages of Jöhlingen and Wössingen in 1971.
