The Maid of the Mist is a sightseeing boat tour of Niagara Falls, starting and ending on the American side, crossing briefly into Canada during a portion of the trip. The fleet currently consists of two vessels, both of which launched in 2020. The James V. Glynn was named in honor of the Maid of the Mist Chairman and CEO, who in 2020 celebrated 70 years with the company, and the Nikola Tesla, for the man who developed a type of alternating current (AC) motor. Nikola Tesla's patents were licensed by George Westinghouse whose company later won the bid to build the first AC power plant at Niagara Falls. Prior to the current two boats, all prior ships had been named Maid of the Mist, dating back to 1846. The first ships were steam powered; these were replaced by diesel-powered vessels from 1955 until 2019, and later replaced with the current two boats powered by lithium-ion battery-powered electric motors. The name, Maid of the Mist, could be a reference to the Iroquois myth of Lelawala.

The American Falls is the second largest of the three waterfalls that together are known as Niagara Falls on the Niagara River along the Canada–United States border. Unlike the much larger Horseshoe Falls, of which approximately 90% is in Ontario, Canada, and 10% in the U.S. state of New York, the American Falls is entirely within the United States.

The Niagara Clifton Bridge, also known as the first Falls View Suspension Bridge, was a suspension bridge over the Niagara River between Niagara Falls, New York and Clifton, Ontario. It was designed by Samuel Keefer, with construction starting in 1867. It was officially opened for traffic on January 2, 1869 and was destroyed in a storm on the night of January 9, 1889.

The Upper Steel Arch Bridge, also known as the Honeymoon Bridge or Fallsview Bridge (less frequently Falls View Bridge), was an international bridge which crossed the Niagara River, connecting Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, with Niagara Falls, New York, United States. It was located about 500 feet (150 m) upriver of the present-day Rainbow Bridge. It collapsed in 1938.

Luna Island is a very small uninhabited island in the Niagara River in the U.S. state of New York.

Bridal Veil Falls is the smallest of the three waterfalls that make up Niagara Falls. It is located on the United States side in New York state. Luna Island separates it from the American Falls and Goat Island separates it from the Horseshoe Falls. Bridal Veil Falls faces to the northwest and has a crest 56 ft (17 m) wide. Bridal Veil is similar in appearance to American Falls, starting with a vertical fall of 78 ft (24 m) followed by the water violently descending the talus boulders to the Maid of the Mist pool 103 ft (31 m) below. The total vertical drop is 181 ft (55 m). The crest elevation of the Falls is 508 ft (155 m). The Cave of the Winds attraction allows visitors to walk up to the base of Bridal Veil Falls. A pedestrian bridge crosses from Goat Island to Luna Island several yards (meters) upstream from the crest of the falls. The waterfall has also been known in the past as Luna Falls and Iris Falls.

The Niagara Falls International Rainbow Bridge, commonly known as the Rainbow Bridge, is a steel arch bridge across the Niagara River, connecting the cities of Niagara Falls, New York, United States, and Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

The Cave of the Winds was a natural cave behind Bridal Veil Falls at the Niagara Falls. The cave was some 130 feet (40 m) high, 100 feet (30 m) wide and 30 feet (9 m) in depth. It was discovered in 1834, and originally dubbed Aeolus's Cave, after the Greek god of winds.Guided tours began officially in 1841, through Goat Island and descending down a staircase closer to the falls, into the cave. A rock fall closed the tour in 1920. It officially reopened in 1924, bringing visitors to the front of the Bridal Veil instead of behind it, on a series of decks and walkways. Tropical storm-like conditions can be experienced, as winds can reach up to 68 mph (109 km/h) underneath the falls. The cave was obliterated in a massive 1954 rockfall and subsequent dynamiting of a dangerous overhang.

The Hornblower Niagara Funicular, previously called the Maid of the Mist Incline and originally known as the Clifton Incline, was a funicular railway in the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. The line was built to convey patrons of the Maid of the Mist boat tour, and linked the foot of Clifton Hill to the boat dock below.The line was built as the Clifton Incline in 1894. It was 50 metres (164 feet) long, was electrically hauled, and passengers were carried in two small 12-seater cars. The track splits near the bottom to allow for cars to pass. A station is located near the top of the incline. The line was renamed as the Maid of the Mist Incline in 1973, without any change to the method of operation or capacity.The increasing size of the vessels used on the Maid of the Mist tour meant that more capacity was required, and the line was rebuilt between 1976 and 1977. When it reopened, it was served by new 24-seater cars which made the journey in 45 seconds. However even these proved inadequate for traffic, and the line finally closed in 1990 when it was replaced by a set of four elevators. Although the line closed in 1990 (replaced by elevators from the main entrance above) and became somewhat overgrown, both the track and the 1977 cars remained for decades afterwards.After several years of construction, Hornblower Niagara Cruises reopened the incline for the 2019 season as the Hornblower Niagara Funicular to enable more traffic to the boat tour. The new system was built by AnCam Solutions Company Limited of Oakville, Ontario and Heller Manus of San Francisco. The new incline uses the same foundation and substructure of the original incline but with new, climate-controlled cars, and operates alongside the elevators.

The Clifton Hotel was a historic hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. It was the site of the 1914 Niagara Falls Peace Conference. It burned down on December 31, 1932.

Goat Island (previously called Iris Island) is a small island in the Niagara River, in the middle of Niagara Falls between the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. The island is at the southwest corner of the City of Niagara Falls (and of Niagara County), New York, in the United States and is part of Niagara Falls State Park. Goat Island has no residents, but is a destination for tourists visiting the falls on the U.S. side. It has several viewing points, including from Terrapin Point. Goat Island is connected to the U.S. mainland by two bridges that carry foot, car, and trackless train traffic, and to the smaller Luna Island (adjacent to the American Falls) by a pedestrian bridge. Goat Island is largely wooded and is interlaced with foot trails. The Cave of the Winds tour elevator provides access down to the foot of the falls.

The Turtle, also known as the Turtle Building or the Native American Center for the Living Arts, is a three-story building in Niagara Falls, New York. The building was opened in May 1981 as the headquarters for the Native American Center for the Living Arts, an organization dedicated to promoting Native American visual and performing arts. Its unique shape, with a geodesic dome roof "shell" and large porthole "eye" windows, invokes the Iroquois creation story of the earth forming on the back of a giant turtle. After closing in 1995 due to financial trouble, the building has remained vacant, with its future preservation and use in question.
