St. Rose of Lima Church (Newtown, Connecticut)

Camps Nos. 10 and 41 of Rochambeau's Army, also known as Site No. 97-87D, is an historical archeological site that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. It encompasses the areas occupied by the French Army of Rochambeau during their marches across Connecticut in 1781 and 1783. One of the major encampment site is located on the grounds of the Hawley School, where a historic marker is placed.

The Caleb Baldwin Tavern is a historic house at 32 Main Street in the Newtown Borough Historic District, located in Newtown, Connecticut, United States. Built c. 1763, the two-and-a-half-story house it is considered historically significant for its role in movement of French forces of Rochambeau, in which the building housed some of the army's officers in June 1781, en route to the Siege of Yorktown. It also an example of traditional 18th-century New England architecture, and retains some details from that time period. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 23, 2002.

The Newtown Borough Historic District is a 100-acre (40 ha) historic district in the borough of Newtown within the town of Newtown in Fairfield County, Connecticut. There is a local historic district, and an overlapping district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The National Register district includes just a small part of the current borough, but about half of the original borough as it was first incorporated in 1824.The local historic district was smaller, but the Ram's Pasture and another property were added in 2009. The district has a governance structure.The district was designated as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1996. The district area has buildings dating back from 1780. The district includes the separately NRHP-listed Glover House and Caleb Baldwin Tavern. In 1996, the district included 225 contributing buildings, 2 other contributing structures, 1 contributing site, and 2 contributing objects. The Glover House, also known as the Budd House, is a historic house at 50 Main Street in Newtown, Connecticut. Built in 1869, it is a good local example of Second Empire architecture, and is further notable for the long tenancy of a single prominent local family. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Sandy Hook is a village in the town of Newtown, Connecticut. It was founded in 1711. It was listed as a census-designated place prior to the 2020 census.Sandy Hook borders the village of Botsford, the Newtown borough, and the towns of Monroe, Southbury, and Oxford along the Housatonic River. The village of Sandy Hook includes the communities of Berkshire, Riverside, Walnut Tree Hill, and Zoar. It also extends for a short distance into the town of Monroe along Old Zoar Road and Bagburn Hill/Jordan Hill Road.

Fairfield State Hospital (as it was known from 1929 to 1963) or Fairfield Hills Hospital (as it was known after 1963) was a psychiatric hospital in Newtown, Connecticut, which operated from 1931 until 1995. At its peak, the hospital housed over 4,000 patients. The entire facility was owned and operated by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health. The facility still stands, just southeast of the center of Newtown.

Rocky Glen State Park is an undeveloped public recreation area covering 46 acres (19 ha) along the west side of the Pootatuck River in the town of Newtown, Connecticut. The state park offers opportunities for hiking to a scenic cascade and includes a one-and-a-half mile stretch of Al's Trail, a 10.7-mile (17.2 km) greenway trail that winds through Newtown. It appeared as the state's forty-seventh state park in the 1943 edition of the Connecticut Register and Manual. The park is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Newtown is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is part of the greater Danbury metropolitan area as well as the New York metropolitan area. Newtown was founded in 1705, and later incorporated in 1711. As of the 2020 census, its population was 27,173.

March Route of Rochambeau's Army: Reservoir Road is a historic site in Newtown, Connecticut. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.It is along the march route taken by French commander Rochambeau's troops in 1781. The listed site is less than 1 acre (0.40 ha) in area, and comprises a section of Reservoir Road running between stone walls, which is believed to be the roadway taken by Rochambeau's army. It is an undeveloped property.It's one of multiple properties whose possible listing on the National Register was covered in a 2001 MPS study.

The New York Belting and Packing Co. complex, also known locally for its main 20th-century occupant, the Fabric Fire Hose Company, is a historic industrial complex at 45–71, 79-89 Glen Road in Newtown, Connecticut. Its centerpiece is a four-story brick mill building with an Italianate tower, built in 1856. The property also includes a dam impounding the adjacent Pootatuck River, a mill pond, and a hydroelectric power generation facility. The site's industrial history begins about 1850, when the dam was built. The Goodyear Rubber Packing Company, headed by Josiah Tomlinson, brother-in-law of Charles Goodyear, started operations on the site at that time, but the company went bankrupt in 1856. The New York Belting and Packing Company bought the premises in that year. One of the buildings burned down that year, and the company built the present factory building on that site, as well as another further upstream (no longer extant), where it operated until 1917. The property was then acquired by a subsidiary of the United States Rubber Company (later known as Uniroyal), which leased the premises to the Fabric Fire Hose Company until 1977. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The complex was renovated into an office building in 1980 named Rocky Glen Mill. A notable occupant in the late 1980s was Stepstone, which created the Objective-C programming language. The building was renovated again in 2000.

Newtown High School is an accredited public high school in Newtown, Connecticut, United States. As of the 2018–2019 school year, the school serves 1,571 students in grades 9–12 and employs 141 faculty members. It is the only high school of the Newtown Public Schools. Newtown High has been accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges since 1948 and was awarded the Blue Ribbon Award for Schools of Excellence in 2000.In 2021, U.S. News & World Report ranked Newtown High School 21st out of all public high schools in Connecticut. Newtown was also ranked 1,219th in the country, out of almost 24,000 public high schools nationwide.
