Little Italy is a neighborhood located in the North End of Bridgeport, Connecticut on Madison Avenue, near the Fairfield County Correctional Facility and Central High School, with a high Italian-American population.

Bridgeport Correctional Center is a high-security state jail for men in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was built in 1958 and received its first inmates the same year. It houses both pre-trial defendants and sentenced offenders for the courts of Ansonia, Derby, Milford, Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk, and Stamford.

Bridgeport is the most populous city and a major port in the U.S. state of Connecticut. With a population of 148,654 in 2020, it is also the fifth-most populous in New England. Located in Fairfield County at the mouth of the Pequonnock River on Long Island Sound, it is 60 miles (97 km) from Manhattan and 40 miles (64 km) from The Bronx. It is bordered by the towns of Trumbull to the north, Fairfield to the west, and Stratford to the east. Bridgeport and other settlements in Fairfield County make up the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk-Danbury metropolitan statistical area, the second largest metropolitan area in Connecticut. The Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk-Danbury metropolis forms part of the New York megacity. Showman P. T. Barnum was a resident of the city and served as the town's mayor in the late 19th century. Barnum built four houses in Bridgeport and housed his circus in town during winter. The first Subway restaurant opened in Bridgeport's North End in 1965. The Frisbie Pie Company was founded in Bridgeport, and the city is credited as the birthplace of the Frisbee. After World War II, industrial restructuring and suburbanization caused the loss of many jobs and affluent residents, leaving Bridgeport struggling with poverty and violent crime. Since the beginning of the 21st century, Bridgeport has begun redevelopment of its downtown and other neighborhoods.

The Grand Street Bridge was a double-leaf deck-girder bascule bridge in Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States, that spanned the Pequonnock River and connected Grand Street and Artic Street. It was one of three movable bridges planned by the City of Bridgeport in 1916 at the request of the War Department during World War I. Construction was completed in 1919, but the delays surrounding the construction went to the Connecticut Supreme Court in case of Edward DeV. Tompkins, Inc. vs. City of Bridgeport, Connecticut. The court ruled in favor of Tompkins and awarded damages equal to the contract. In 1936, the bridge had excessive settling and required the replacement of its southeast pier. As part of the repairs, a new floor and electrical system were installed. In 1965, the floor was replaced with a steel grate on I-beam floor. In 1984, the eastern approach span was replaced and the northwest trunnion post was reconstructed. The bridge was closed in the 1990s and dismantled in 1999.

John F. Kennedy Stadium is a 12,000-seat lighted stadium located at Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The stadium is designed for use for football, soccer, lacrosse games and track and field meets.The stadium was built along with the current high school, which was completed in 1964, and named for the recently assassinated President John F. Kennedy. In addition to being home to the CHS Hilltoppers, it was home to the University of Bridgeport's football program until it was disbanded in 1975. The final game of the minor league Atlantic Coast Football League was held at the stadium, when the New England Colonials defeated the Bridgeport Jets by 41-17 in the ACFL championship game. 10,176 fans attended the contest on November 23, 1973 -- ten years and a day after President Kennedy died, in a stadium named after him. In recent years, the stadium served as the site of the Eastern Marching Band Association and Musical Arts Conference marching band field show finals in early November. In 2001, the stadium was the host to the first Major League Lacrosse championship weekend.

The East Washington Avenue Bridge refers to the bridges that have connected East Washington Avenue over the Pequonnock River in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Records state that a bridge was first constructed on the site in 1836, but no description of the bridge has been found. The second bridge was a truss swing design and underwent heavy repair and modernization in 1893. The third design was a movable Strauss underneath-counter weight deck-girder bascule bridge. The plans were drafted by James A. McElroy, using Joseph B. Strauss's design in 1916. However, construction was delayed for years because of a dispute with the contractor and a lack of funds. The bridge was completed by Bridgeport Dry Dock and Dredging when the State of Connecticut appropriated $350,000 to erect the bridge. Completed in 1925, the bridge underwent several modifications throughout its service life. On July 26, 1983, the bridge was closed after it was found to be in danger of collapse. It reopened after repair, but was closed in the 1990s before being replaced with a modern bascule bridge in 1998. In 2010, the report listed the deck and superstructure conditions as "Good" and the substructure condition as "Satisfactory".

Central High School is a high school in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut in the United States. It was founded in 1876 as Bridgeport High School. In 2003 the school held 2,217 students and 152 teachers. Ethnically the students were 41% African-American, 41% Hispanic, 13% white and 4% Asian, with .1% marked as unknown.The current school building was constructed in 1963–4, and was dedicated on October 25, 1964. The school is under renovation scheduled to be complete in 2021.

The Sterling Hill Historic District in Bridgeport, Connecticut is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. The district is a two-block area of 43 urban residential structures dating as far back as 1821. Most of the buildings are from later in the 19th century when the neighborhood was largely occupied by Irish working-class residents. Most of the early buildings are vernacular wood-frame structures with modest Federal, Greek Revival, or Gothic Revival details, while the later additions include multiunit tenement-style buildings. The area includes the oldest urbanized part of the city.

The Palace and the Majestic are a pair of historic performance and film venues at 1315-1357 Main Street in downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut. Built in 1921-22 by Sylvester Z. Poli in a single building that also housed a hotel, they were in their heyday a posh and opulent sight, designed by noted theater architect Thomas W. Lamb. The building has stood vacant and decaying since the 1970s, despite repeated attempts to restore its grandeur. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Golden Hill Historic District encompasses a well-preserved formerly residential area on the northwest fringe of downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut. Located mainly on Lyon Terrace, Gold Hill Street, and Congress Street, the district includes 11 formerly residential buildings now mainly in commercial use, which were built between about 1890 and 1930. It also includes Bridgeport City Hall (a 1916 high school building which has been repurposed), and the Golden Hill United Methodist Church. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The East Bridgeport Historic District encompasses one of the best-preserved 19th-century neighborhoods of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Bounded by Arctic Street, East Main Street, the railroad tracks, and the Pequonnock River, this area was a planned development of Bridgeport promoter P.T. Barnum and landowner William H. Noble. Its development prompted the significant growth of industry and economic activity east of the Pequonnock River. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

St. Augustine Cathedral, located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States, is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport.
