Tuxeck

At 2,304 metres (7,559 ft), the Treffauer is the third highest mountain in the Kaisergebirge range of the Alps. It lies in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The Sonneck is a 2,260-metre-high (7,410 ft) mountain in the Kaisergebirge range of the Northern Limestone Alps in Austria. On its broad peak stands a solid summit cross, the panorama is comprehensive and there are particularly good views of the Ellmauer Halt, the highest mountain in the range, the Treffauer and Lake Hinterstein.

The Kaiser Mountains (German: Kaisergebirge, meaning Emperor Mountains) are a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps and Eastern Alps. Its main ridges – are the Zahmer Kaiser and south of it the Wilder Kaiser. The mountains are situated in the Austrian province of Tyrol between the town of Kufstein and the town of St. Johann in Tirol. The Kaiser Mountains offer some of the loveliest scenery in all the Northern Limestone Alps.

The Ellmauer Halt (2,344 m) is the highest peak in the mountain massif of the Wilder Kaiser in the Kaiser range (Northern Limestone Alps) in the Austrian state of Tyrol. To the east is the summit of the Kapuzenturm, a striking and isolated rock pinnacle. In 1883 the first summit cross was erected on the mountain top. The base camp for climbing tours on this mountain is the Grutten Hut mountain hut on its southern flank, at a height of 1,620 m. There is also the unoccupied, tiny Babenstuber Hut, immediately below the summit. This shelter and emergency refuge has stood on the Ellmauer Halt since 1891, but is not weatherproof. In any case the peak should only be climbed in good weather with dry conditions by experienced climbers with secure footwear, no fear of heights and climbing agility. Due to the popularity of the Ellmauer Halt there is a high risk of falling rocks, especially on the normal path, the Gamsängersteig. A helmet and even a Klettersteig set are therefore recommended.

The Hans Berger Haus is a refuge hut belonging to the Kufstein section of the Austrian Friends of Nature, located in the Kaisergebirge mountains in Tyrol. The tenants run a well-known climbing school here.

The Anton Karg Haus, formerly the Neue Hinterbärenbad Hut, is an Alpine club hut belonging to the Kufstein Section of the Austrian Alpine Club in the Kaisergebirge mountains in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The hut is named after the co-founder of the Kufstein Section, Anton Karg, who was the manager of the hut from 1888 and, from 1890 to 1919, the chairman of the Kufstein Branch of the Alpine Club.

The Hackenköpfe are a row of peaks in the western Kaisergebirge range in Austria. Their maximum height is 2,126 metres (6,975 ft). They are located in the ridge running west from the Sonneck between the Treffauer and Scheffauer. To the north their rock faces, up to 800 metres high, drop into the Kaisertal valley; to the south they present steep, craggy rock flanks. They are most usually scaled either over the arête from the Sonneck or along the one from the Scheffauer. Both normal routes include sections of UIAA grade II climbs and are not signed or secured. The popular, but challenging crossing of the crest running from the Scheffauer to the Sonneck from the base at Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser also involves the Hackenköpfe.

Ellmau is a municipality in the district of Kufstein in the Austrian region of Sölllandl. It lies 12 km southeast of Kufstein and 9 km west of Sankt Johann in Tirol. It is located at an elevation of 820 m above sea level. It was mentioned for the first time in the records in 1155 and is nowadays part of the Ski Welt skiing area. Ellmau is in very picturesque alpine countryside famed for its proximity to the Wilder Kaiser mountains and the steep wooded and meadowed hills to the south. The village is a very popular holiday resort both in winter and summer. In winter a variety of winter sports are possible on the local pistes and, in summer, the area is ideal for walking, mountain biking and climbing.

Sölllandl (also Söllandl or Sölland) is a valley and geographical region located in Tyrol, Austria that covers the villages of Söll (Tirol), Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser, Ellmau, and Going am Wilden Kaiser in the Tyrolean Unterland between Wörgl and St. Johann in Tirol. The Sölllandl includes the watersheds near Söll between the rivers Inn and Großache on one side and part of the Kitzbühler Ache on the other. Sölllandl divides the limestone alps of the Pölven and the Wilder Kaiser to the north from the slate mountains of the greywacke zone of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Salve away to the west. The river Weißache, which rises south of Ellmau, drains the central region of the Sölllandl, turns shortly before Söll, accompanied by the Eiberg road, then to the north towards the Inn. The western part is drained by the Luecher Bach before it joins the Brixentaler Ache above Wörgl. The Reither Ache, coming from the south and fed by the Goinger Hausbach, which descends from the Wochenbrunner Alp, flows to St. Johann into the Großache in the Leukental. The landscape is an important east-west link, through which the Loferer Bundesstraße (federal road) runs.

The Scheffauer is a 2,111 m-high mountain in the Kaiser mountain range of the Northern Limestone Alps. It forms the western buttress of the Wilder Kaiser and is one of the most frequented summits in the Kaiser.

Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser is a municipality in the district Kufstein in the Austrian region of the Sölllandl. It is located 8.50 km southeast of Kufstein and 13 km northwest of Kitzbühel and has three subdivisions. The main source of income is summer tourism. The village has a public swimming area. Located just outside Scheffau is the Hintersteiner See, the largest lake in the Wilder Kaiser valley.
