Towner's was a station on the Harlem Line of the New York Central Railroad (now Metro-North Railroad). It was 58 miles from Grand Central Terminal. The station dates as far back as December 31, 1848 and was closed when the New York Central merged into Penn Central in 1968. No station structures remain at the site. Towners Station was located off New York State Route 164 just north of a bridge that carries the former New York and New England Railroad main line (now the Metro-North Beacon Line) over the tracks. The Beacon Line had a separate station nearby.

Patterson is a town in Putnam County, New York, United States. The town is in the northeastern part of the county. Interstate 84 passes through the southwestern section of the town. The population was 11,541 at the 2020 census. The town is named after early farmer Matthew Paterson. The reason Patterson was spelled with two "t"s was due to the looseness with which Paterson spelled his own last name.

The station is the first/last station in the Zone 8 Metro-North fare zone. It is the northernmost station on the line in Putnam County, and the first station beyond the end of electrification. Contrary to the Metro-North website, Patterson station is farther west of New York State Route 22, and closer to New York State Route 311, which is just to the north.

Thunder Ridge is a small ski area located in Patterson, NY. Because it is located just 75 minutes from New York City, the mountain attracts skiers and snowboarders from across the New York area. While it does not receive a lot of snowfall, Thunder Ridge does have snowmaking capabilities which can cover 95% of the mountain. Because it is open at night, Thunder Ridge is a haven for high school ski racing. The mountain hosts part of Hudson Valley League racing.

Lake Carmel is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Kent in Putnam County, New York, United States. The home of over half of the town of Kent's population of 8,282, the hamlet is centered around Lake Carmel, a 1.6 mile long manmade lake in the southeastern corner of the township and just north of hamlet of Carmel within the town of Carmel. The lake and surrounding community was developed by the Smadbeck brothers, who excavated and dammed a swamp in the 1920s and sold lots through the now-defunct New York Daily Mirror. The hamlet is the seat of the volunteer Lake Carmel Fire Department; its fire district covers the eastern half of the township, and of the Kent town government.

Doanesburgh is an extinct locality in Putnam County, in the U.S. state of New York.A post office called Doanesburgh was established in 1839, and remained in operation until 1855. The community was named after Benjamin Doane, an early settler.
