Belmont is a primarily residential neighborhood in the Bronx in New York City. Its boundaries are Fordham Road to the north, Bronx Park to the east, East 181st Street to the south, and Third Avenue to the west. These boundaries give the neighborhood a crescent-like shape. Mario's is an Italian-American restaurant on Arthur Avenue in Belmont, Bronx. in 2000, the James Beard Foundation named it an America's Classic.

On the night of December 28, 2017, a fire tore through an apartment building in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City. Thirteen people died, and fourteen others were injured. At the time, it was the city's deadliest fire in 25 years, being surpassed a little over four years later by another apartment fire in the Bronx that killed seventeen people.As a result of the fire, the New York City Council passed ordinances mandating self-closing doors and child-safety knobs in apartments, as well as better communication about fire safety between the New York City Fire Department and families with children.

The 183rd Street station was a local station on the demolished IRT Third Avenue Line in the Bronx, New York City. It was opened on July 1, 1901, and was one of three stations built when the line was extended to Fordham Plaza. It had three tracks and two side platforms. The station was located near what is today Saint Barnabas Hospital Pediatrics, and was five blocks east of the former New York Central Railroad station of the same name along the Harlem Line. The next stop to the north was Fordham Road–190th Street. The next stop to the south was 180th Street. The station closed on April 29, 1973. This station was very famous for Dondi's "Children of the Grave: Part II"

Belmont Preparatory High School, or Belmont Prep is a small school located within the Theodore Roosevelt Educational Campus, across the street from Fordham University, in the Belmont section of the Bronx, New York City. As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 418 students and 30.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.9:1. There were 323 students (77.3% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 33 (7.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Tierney Hall is one of the three residential colleges on the Rose Hill campus of Fordham University, in the Bronx, NY. It is home to about 150 students each semester. Tierney is described by the school as a "warm environment of a close-knit community." Tierney Hall was renovated in the summer of 2007.
