Tyne Dock

Jarrow is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Kate Osborne of the Labour Party.The seat was created in the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885.

John Readhead & Sons was a shipyard on the River Tyne in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England founded in 1865.

Tyneside is a built-up area across the banks of the River Tyne in northern England. Residents of the area are commonly referred to as Geordies. The whole area is surrounded by the North East Green Belt. The population of Tyneside as published in the 2011 census was 774,891, making it the eighth most-populous urban area in the United Kingdom. In 2013, the estimated population was 832,469.Politically, the area is mainly covered by the metropolitan boroughs of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside. The boroughs on the Tyne are joint with Wearside which is in both the counties of Durham (Chester-le-Street) and Tyne and Wear.

Simonside is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the suburb of West Harton, South Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 17 March 2008.

The Port of Tyne comprises the commercial docks on and around the River Tyne in Tyne and Wear in the northeast of England.

Tyne Dock is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving South Tyneside Hospital and the suburb of Tyne Dock, South Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 24 March 1984, following the opening of the fifth phase of the network, between Heworth and South Shields.

Tyne Renewable Energy Plant (or Tyne REP) is a proposed biomass power station, to be built on the north bank of the River Tyne at North Shields. The plant has been developed by MGT Power, along with their similar project, the Teesport Renewable Energy Plant on Teesside. It is expected to have a generating capacity of 295 megawatts, enough to power around 600,000 homes, making it one of the biggest of its kind in Europe. It is hoped the plant will be opened in 2014, costing £400 million.The plant would be built on a 14 acres (5.7 ha) industrial site at the Port of Tyne in North Shields adjacent to the proposed North Shields Bio Diesel Plant on the north bank of the River Tyne. The construction of the plant would create around 600 jobs, as well as 150 full-time jobs once the plant was completed, and 300 to 400 indirect jobs in the supply chain. There would be an annual spend of £30 million in the local economy.

South Shields power station supplied electricity to the borough of South Shields and the surrounding area from 1896 to 1958. It was owned and operated by South Shields Corporation until the nationalisation of the British electricity supply industry in 1948. The power station was redeveloped several times to meet increasing demand It was decommissioned in 1958.

West Harton is an area of the town of South Shields, in Tyne and Wear, England. It is primarily a residential area, with several schools and leisure facilities, including St Wilfrid's College and Brinkburn Recreation Ground. South Tyneside District Hospital is also situated in the area. It is served by Tyne Dock Metro station on the Tyne and Wear Metro.

The Customs House is an arts venue in South Shields, South Tyneside, North East England. It is the only non-amateur theatre in the borough, the local arts development agency, the largest gallery and, until recently, the only cinema.

High Shields railway station served the suburb of High Shields, South Tyneside, England, from 1842 to 1981 on the Brandling Junction Railway.

Royal Quays is an area of North Shields, North Tyneside, England, beside the River Tyne. Built on the site of former docks, and containing the pre-existing North Shields International Ferry Terminal, the area was renamed Royal Quays in 1990 and redeveloped with housing, a shopping centre, Brewers Fayre restaurant, large public parks and a water park known as Wet n Wild. A Premier Inn hotel, sports centre, ten-pin bowling complex and a trampolining centre are also part of the development.
