West Hyde Park

The Hyde Park Historic Districts are U.S. Historic Districts (designated as such on March 4, 1985) located in Tampa, Florida. They are bounded by the Hillsborough River, Hillsborough Bay, Howard Avenue, and Kennedy Boulevard. They contain 1,264 buildings, including the Hutchinson House and the Anderson-Frank House.

The Leiman House is a historic home in Tampa, Florida. It is located at 716 South Newport Avenue. On September 9, 1974, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. A "good example" of a fully developed Prairie style house, the building's architect was M. Leo Elliott. It has two stories, is of frame construction with a stucco exterior, and includes a hipped roof with eaves and front walls that enclose a raised patio. The home belonged to Henry Leiman (1857-1931), a manufacturer of cigar boxes.

Bayshore Boulevard is a waterfront road on Hillsborough Bay in South Tampa, Florida. Located south of downtown Tampa, its sidewalk, at 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long, is 10 feet (3.0 m) wide and is the longest continuous sidewalks in the United States. The 3-mile (4.8 km) bike lane, a linear park, and the Bayshore Greenway Trail provide scenic views of urban Tampa and the water. The sidewalk's conveniences include benches, a water fountain, bicycle parking, a city marina, and workout stations.

Dobyville was a historic black neighborhood in what is now West Hyde Park, Tampa, Florida. It was named for Richard Cornelius (properly, Curtis) Doby, a resident philanthropic black businessman and community leader.Dobyville encompassed the area from North B Street on the north to Swann Avenue to the south, from Albany Avenue on the west to Willow Avenue on the east. The neighborhood's modest homes, warehouses and supporting businesses lined each side of the railroad tracks that pass diagonally thru the area from northeast to southwest. By the turn of the 20th century, Jim Crow segregation relegated the majority of Tampa's black population to a handful of racially delineated neighborhoods including "the Scrub" (in Tampa's Central Avenue district), West Tampa, Ybor City, Dobyville, and College Hill.

Gorrie Elementary School (1889), originally the Hyde Park School, is a historic building in Tampa, Florida. It was renamed in 1915 to honor John Gorrie. It is a two story brick building the St. Petersburg Times called a "jewel". Singer and actress Mary Hatcher attended the school.

Spanishtown Creek, sometimes written Spanish Town Creek, was a stream that emptied into the Hillsborough Bay section of Tampa Bay a half-mile west of the Hillsborough River in the area now known as Hyde Park. Spanish-speaking fishermen built a village called Spanishtown near where the creek emptied into the bay during the era of Spanish control of La Florida before Fort Brooke was established. The A historical marker on Bay Street commemorates the history. Spanishtown is believed to have been established in the mid to late-18th century. Levi Collar, the first known Anglo settler arrived in the area of the Hillsborough River's west bank ca. 1820. Florida was transferred from Spain to the United States in 1821. The Burgert Brothers photographed a bridge being built over the creek in 1906.

Bern's Steak House is a steak restaurant in the Hyde Park district of Tampa, Florida, founded in 1956. It is known for having one of the largest wine collections in the world.

SoHo Tampa, short for "South Howard Avenue (Tampa)" is a residential district within the Hyde Park neighborhood of Tampa. Some of the main cross streets are Kennedy Boulevard (SoHo's starting point), Cleveland Street, Platt Street, and Swann Avenue. The area has historic architecture and is within walking distance of Bayshore Boulevard where it terminates (two miles away from the entertainment district). The much praised Bern's Steak House is located in the district. Other high-end restaurants and nightlife venues are located here. Other offerings are high-end locally owned clothing boutiques, art galleries, dessert cafes, and a Starbucks. One of only three Publix GreenWise Markets is also located in the district. As of 2009, small companies have sprung up utilizing NEVs to shuttle clubgoers between core neighborhoods including SoHo and Channelside.In 2009, a small park dedicated to Bern Laxer, late founder of Bern's Steakhouse, opened at the southern part of the district. At the center of the park is the "Three Graces" sculpture and a lighted fountain that is the first in Tampa to use reclaimed water.
