New Parks

Allexton & New Parks Football Club is a football club based in Leicester, England. They are currently members of the Midland League Division One and play at New College Leicester, Leicester.

Dane Hills is a large area on the western side of the English city of Leicester, consisting of the smaller areas of Newfoundpool, Western Park, and New Parks, which is bounded by Glenfield to the west. A cave in this area was known as Black Annis's Bower, the cave being reputed to be the lair of a witch or hag of that name.

New College Leicester (formed in 1999/2000 in a merger between New Parks Community College, Alderman Newton's School, and Wycliffe Community College) is a coeducational foundation secondary school and sixth form, located in the New Parks area of Leicester in the English county of Leicestershire.New College Leicester became a foundation school in June 2010. As a foundation school it is administered by a trust which includes Leicester City Council, Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College and the CfBT Education Trust.The school offers GCSEs, BTECs and ASDAN qualifications as programmes of study for pupils; those in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels and further BTECs.

The A563 is the designation for the ring road of Leicester, England. It forms a near-complete circuit except for a gap of around 2.2 miles (3.5 km) in the east of the city. An indirect route linking the gap involves the (A47) A6030, and A6. The A563 was formerly referred to as the Outer Ring. If the outstanding section were completed, the road would have a circumference of about 19 miles (31 km) and an average distance from Town Hall Square of around 3 miles (4.8 km).

The Orchards is a 6.6 hectares (16 acres) Local Nature Reserve in Leicester. It is owned by Leicester City Council and managed by Groundwork and volunteers.This site was formerly allotments. It has diverse habitats of damp and dry grassland, mature trees, scrub, and a pond which has many newts, frogs and toads.There is access from Groby Road.

The Western Park Open Air School, situated in Western Park, was the first open air school in Leicester, for children with respiratory problems. It opened on 7 November 1930 and closed in 2005. In 1937, it was chosen by the Royal Institute of British Architects to illustrate its Modern Schools Exhibition. It is Grade II listed with Historic England.

Glenfield Hospital, formally known as Glenfield General Hospital, is situated near Glenfield, on the outskirts of Leicester. It is one of England's main hospitals for coronary care and respiratory diseases. It is a tertiary referral university teaching hospital, with a strong international reputation for medical research in cardiac and respiratory health. It is managed by the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

Western Park is a park and surrounding suburb located in West End of Leicester. It is also a ward of the City of Leicester whose population at the 2011 census was 10,609.The park itself was bought for £30,000 in 1897 and at 178 acres (0.72 km2) is the biggest in Leicester. While the park has a "blend of meadows, mature woods and hedgerows" the park also contains a large number of sporting facilities including a BMX track, a skate ramp, a baseball field, two bowling greens, five football pitches, six cricket pitches (all with associated changing facilities) and six tennis courts. Until the 1950s the Park's tennis courts, then located to the far west of the Park, were the home of Westcotes Church Tennis Club and then Westfields Lawn Tennis Club. The club later moved to a site on the nearby Eastfield Road; the courts on Western Park are now open to the public. Since 2008, the full-sized baseball field at the southwest end of park has been home to the Leicester Blue Sox Baseball Club. The Blue Sox have been British Baseball Federation national baseball champions in 2009 and 2012. The club has adult and youth teams and is open to players of all ages and abilities. Until May 2013 the former park warden's lodge was home to the environmental charity Groundworks Leicester & Leicestershire, formerly known as Environ. This building was called the "Eco House" after being converted as a show house, used to demonstrate ways of making homes more environmentally friendly. It was open to the public and held one-off events as well as receiving visits from local schools. The Eco House and the neighbouring recycling centre were part of the larger Groundwork UK network.A voluntary group, The Friends of Western Park, works with the city council to "improve the park for everyone".The area of Leicester sharing the park's name is a generally affluent area to the South and East of the park. The suburb also contains Dovelands Primary School which caters for 550 3–11-year olds, including nursery school children. St. Anne's Parish Church, and the aforementioned Westfields Tennis Club. The club has four floodlit courts and caters to both children and adults from the local area and beyond. Christ the King Roman Catholic primary school, rated "outstanding" by Ofsted hosts two sites, the infant site at the top of Western Park and the junior site further down on Glenfield Road.

Goss Meadows is a 2.8 hectares (6.9 acres) Local Nature Reserve on the north-western outskirts of Leicester. It is owned and managed by Leicester City Council.This is a long narrow strip along the western side of Anstey Lane. It is woodland and grassland, which has some uncommon wild flowers, such as spiny restharrow.There is access from Anstey Lane.

Leicester West is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2010 by Liz Kendall of the Labour Party. Along with the other two Leicester seats, it was held by Labour at the 2017 general election. Since its creation in 1918 the seat has sided with parties from the left wing of politics.

English Martyrs Catholic School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form located in Leicester, England. The school's new buildings had their official opening in May 2015.

Beaumont Leys School is a co-educational comprehensive secondary school in Leicester, England, which caters for students aged between 11 and 16. The school has one of Leicester's four Learning Support Units and one of two City Learning Centres. Rebuilt to the cost of £14,000,000 just over 10 years ago in the Building schools for the future project it is in the heart of Beaumont Leys, the school serves some of the city's most economically and educationally deprived areas, and although GCSE performance was poor in the past, the school is improving with a 2007 Ofsted inspection rating the school as Grade 2 Good overall. The new building and improving image of the school has seen not only GCSE results rise every year (68% grade A*-C in 2010) but a 2010 ofsted inspection rated the school as 'Good with outstanding elements'.
