Teufelsloch (Teufelsbäder)

The Große Schweimke is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is 3.2 km (2.0 mi) long and a tributary of the Kleine Steinau, north of Herzberg am Harz in the district of Göttingen. It rises at about 602 m above sea level and 1 km (0.6 mi) south of the Schindelkopf and roughly 600 m (2,000 ft) north of the Weinbergstraße road on the ridge known as Auf dem Acker. It flows initially in a southwesterly direction before swinging west and discharging into the Kleine Steinau.

The Teufelsbäder ("Devil's Baths") is the name of a moor landscape near Osterode am Harz in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. It lies within the nature reserve of the same name southeast of Augustental on the B 243 federal road.

Kleine Steinau is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a 9.1-kilometre-long (5.7 mi) tributary of the Sieber, north of Herzberg am Harz in the district of Göttingen. The Kleine Steina rises at about 690 m (2,260 ft) between the Schindelkopf mountain and the Spießerklippe crags on the ridge of Auf dem Acker. It initially flows in a westerly direction, but later swings south before emptying into the River Sieber near the small settlement of Aschenhütte, not far from the mouth of the Große Steinau. In the upper reaches of the Kleine Steinau it is also called the Schindelgraben, although it is not clear from the maps at which point the name changes.

Elbingerode is a municipality in the district of Göttingen, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

The Söse Dam is a dam in the Lower Saxon part of the Harz mountains near Osterode in the German state of Lower Saxony. It was the first modern dam and reservoir complex (German: Talsperre) to be built in the Harz and was constructed by the Harzwasserwerke between 1928 and 1931. It is used for flood prevention, electricity generation, supplying drinking water and for raising water levels during times of low water. The construction of the dam cost 14.7 million Reichsmarks at the time. The Harzwasserwerke still operate the dam today. In 1933 construction began on a long-distance water pipe from the Söse reservoir, whose northern branch goes as far as Bremen. Today it mainly supplies towns and communities in the Hildesheim and Hanover areas. Since 1980 the town of Göttingen has also been supplied with drinking water from the reservoir.
