Redhills, County Cavan

Finn Bridge, also known as Annaghmullin Bridge, is a bridge built in 1856 that connects County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland to County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. It spans the Finn River (a tributary of the River Erne which is not to be confused with the River Finn in County Donegal). The bridge is close to Laurel Hill, a crossroads in the west of County Monaghan that is near the villages of Scotshouse (in County Monaghan) and Redhills (in County Cavan). Finn Bridge is a border crossing between the Republic and the North. It was used by Gardaí, RUC and also the Irish and British armies during "The Troubles". The bridge was closed to vehicles in the 1970s, when the British Army fixed concrete pillars onto the middle of it. This was intended to prevent the IRA from moving easily between the two areas. The only way across was by walking through the gaps between the pillars. Since the Northern Ireland peace process, the bridge has been reopened to vehicular traffic. The bridge is on one of a small number of road routes used to access Drummully (also known as Coleman's Island or 'the Sixteen Townlands'), a pene-enclave of County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland which is accessible by road only via County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland.

Castle Saunderson (Irish: Caisleán Shandarsan) is a castle near Belturbet in County Cavan, Ireland. It was the former family seat of the Saunderson family, and is now in ruins. The Finn River flows along the north-eastern edge of the Castle Saunderson Demesne, where the river enters a narrow channel of Upper Lough Erne. The castle is about a half a mile west from Wattlebridge, a small hamlet in the south-south-east of County Fermanagh.The Castle Saunderson International Scouting Centre is a Scouting Ireland facility, opened in 2012 within the grounds of the castle. The centre provides indoor accommodation and campsites covering 34 acres (14 ha). It is open to Scouts year round, as well as to non-Scouts for most of the year. It currently acts as a World Scouting Centre for the Scouts, alongside Cairo International Scout Centre in Egypt and others.

Wattlebridge (Irish: Droichead na nGad), sometimes written as Wattle Bridge, is a small hamlet in the south-south-east of County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. The hamlet is located almost 3½ miles (around 5.5 kilometres) south of the village of Newtownbutler. The hamlet is in a region known unofficially as South Ulster. Wattlebridge is very close to Fermanagh's boundary with both County Cavan and County Monaghan, the hamlet being just north of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The Finn River flows through the hamlet, the river entering Upper Lough Erne a short distance to the west of Wattlebridge. The Wattlebridge Road (the B533), part of the main road between Cavan Town and Lisnaskea, runs via Wattlebridge. This road joins the Cavan Road (often known locally as 'the Concession Road'), part of the A3, at a junction on the southern edge of the hamlet. The A3 becomes the N54 at the townland of Leggykelly in County Cavan, this townland being very close to Wattlebridge. The Cavan Road, or 'the Concession Road', part of the N54 / A3, is the main Cavan Town to Clones road.Immediately to the east and north-east of Wattlebridge is Drummully, a small district also known as 'the Sixteen Townlands' or 'Coleman's Island'. Drummully is a 'pene-enclave' of County Monaghan, being almost completely surrounded by County Fermanagh. The N54 / A3 passes through Drummully.Around half a mile to the west of Wattlebridge is Castle Saunderson, a now ruined country house in County Cavan. The 'castle' is located on the Castle Saunderson Demesne and is separated from County Fermanagh by the Finn River. The current Castle Saunderson was largely built in the late 1770s or early 1780s, being expanded and heavily remodeled in the 1830s.The hamlet straddles two townlands: Edergool, which lies on the northern bank of the Finn River, and Annaghmore Glebe, which lies on the southern bank of the Finn River. Edergool townland is usually known locally as Wattlebridge townland.

Drummully or Drumully (Irish: Droim Ailí; "rocky ridge") is an electoral division (ED) in the west of County Monaghan in Ireland. Known as the Sixteen Townlands to locals and as Coleman's Island or the Clonoony salient to the security forces, it is a pene-enclave almost completely surrounded by County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. Since the Partition of Ireland in the 1920s, the Fermanagh–Monaghan border has formed part of the international border between the United Kingdom and what is now the Republic of Ireland, leaving Drummully as a practical enclave, connected to the rest of the republic only by an unbridged 110-metre (360 ft) length of the Finn River. The area is accessed via the Clones–Butlersbridge road, numbered N54 in the Republic and A3 in Northern Ireland. The civil parish of Drummully includes the Monaghan ED and the surrounding parts of Fermanagh; the townland of Drummully, with the ruins of the medieval parish church, lies in the Fermanagh portion of the parish. The two county Fermanagh EDs separating Drummully from the republic are Clonkeelan to the east and Derrysteaton to the southwest. The Connons is a name given sometimes to Drummully ED, and sometimes to the entire district between Clones and Redhills, County Cavan, encompassing Clonkeelan, Drummully, and Derrysteaton. Connons Catholic church and Connons community hall are in Drummully ED.

The Ulster Canal is a canal running through part of County Armagh, County Tyrone and County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland and County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland. The Ulster Canal was built between 1825 and 1842 and was 74 km (46 mi) long with 26 locks. It ran from Charlemont on the River Blackwater to near Wattlebridge on the Finn River, south-east of Upper Lough Erne. It was an ill-considered venture, with the locks built narrower than the other Irish waterways, preventing through trade, and an inadequate water supply. It was an abject failure commercially, and contributed to the collapse of the Lagan Navigation Company, who took it over from the government but were then refused permission to abandon it when they could not afford the maintenance costs. It finally closed in 1931. Waterways Ireland started work on rebuilding the canal at its southern end in 2015.

The Finn River (Irish: An Fhinn or Abhainn na Finne), also known as the River Finn, is a small river that flows through parts of County Fermanagh and parts of County Monaghan in the south of Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. In certain places, the river forms part of the boundary between County Fermanagh, which is part of Northern Ireland, and County Monaghan, which is part of the Republic of Ireland. Two very short stretches of the river, just north of Redhills and at Castle Saunderson, near Belturbet, also form part of the boundary between County Fermanagh and County Cavan (part of the Republic of Ireland). This means that some stretches of the river form part of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, these short stretches also forming part of the external border of the European Union. Some stretches of the river flow entirely within County Fermanagh, while other stretches flow entirely within County Monaghan. The river eventually flows into Upper Lough Erne, entering the lough very near Castle Saunderson. The Finn River should not be confused with the better known and much longer River Finn, which mainly flows through County Donegal in the west of Ulster.

Scotshouse (Irish: Teach an Scotaigh) is a small agricultural village in the parish of Currin in County Monaghan, Ireland. It is roughly three miles east of where the counties of Cavan, Fermanagh and Monaghan meet. Scotshouse is about 7 kilometres (4 mi) from Clones, 18 km (11 mi) from Cavan town and 27 km (17 mi) away from Monaghan town. Scotshouse is in the townland of Aghnahola (Irish: Achadh na hAbhla, meaning 'field of the apples'). Finn Bridge, a border crossing on the Finn River, is west of Scotshouse.

Newtownbutler railway station was on the Dundalk and Enniskillen Railway in Northern Ireland. The Dundalk and Enniskillen Railway opened the station on 26 June 1858.It closed on 1 October 1957.

Newtownbutler or Newtown Butler is a small village in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It is in the southeast corner of the county, near Lough Erne, the border with County Monaghan, Republic of Ireland, and the town of Clones. It is surrounded by small lakes and bogland. In the 2011 census it had a population of 989 people.

The Battle of Newtownbutler took place near Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, Ireland, in 1689 and was part of the Williamite War in Ireland between the forces of William III and Mary II and those of King James II.

Magheraveely (from Irish Machaire Mhílic) is a small village in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census, it had a population of people 254. It is within the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area.

Clones Market House (Irish: Teach an Mhargaidh Cluain Eois), also known as Clones Town Hall (Irish: Halla an Bhaile Cluain Eois) is a municipal building at The Diamond in Clones, County Monaghan, Ireland. It is currently used by Monaghan County Council as a venue for the delivery of local services.
