Virginia's 10th congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is represented by Democrat Jennifer Wexton, who was first elected in 2018.The district includes all of Rappahannock County, Fauquier County, and Loudoun County, parts of Fairfax County and Prince William County, as well as the independent cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. The district closely matches Virginia's voting patterns in statewide races.Beginning when it was re-created in 1952, the 10th district was in Republican hands for 60 of 66 years, including long stints in office by Joel Broyhill (1953–74) and Frank Wolf (1981–2014). Barbara Comstock, a former aide to Wolf, succeeded him after the 2014 election. Wexton defeated Comstock in the 2018 midterms, becoming only the second Democrat to win the district.The modern 10th congressional district was formed in 1952. For the next two decades, it consisted of Arlington, Alexandria, and most of Fairfax County. As a result of redistricting following the 1970 census, it lost Alexandria and was pushed westward to take in Loudoun County. Virginia's 10th congressional district used to be a Republican stronghold, having once voted by double-digit margins for Republican candidates. In 2000, ten-term incumbent Republican Congressman Frank Wolf won over 80% of the vote and did not face a Democratic opponent. Two years later, Wolf defeated his Democratic challenger John Stevens by 43 points. In 2004, President George W. Bush won the district by 11 points. In recent years, the district has become much friendlier to Democrats due to population growth in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. In 2012, Mitt Romney narrowly carried the district by a point, while in 2016, Hillary Clinton won the district by 10 points.In 2017, Democrats scored major gains in the state legislative elections, leaving Comstock as the only elected Republican above the county level in much of the district. Ralph Northam also easily carried the district in the gubernatorial race. This proved to be a precursor to Comstock's defeat by Wexton a year later. As of 2022, VA-10 is the third-wealthiest congressional district in the country, with a median household income of $140,889.

Trans World Airlines Flight 514, registration N54328, was a Boeing 727-231 en route from Indianapolis, Indiana and Columbus, Ohio to Washington Dulles International that crashed into Mount Weather, Virginia, on Sunday, December 1, 1974. All 92 aboard, 85 passengers and seven crew members, were killed. In stormy conditions late in the morning, the aircraft was in controlled flight and impacted a low mountain 25 nautical miles (46 km; 29 mi) northwest of its revised destination. The accident was one of two crashes involving Boeing 727 aircraft in the United States that day, the other being the crash of Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 6231 later that evening near Haverstraw, New York.

Trapp is an unincorporated community on the eastern flanks of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western Loudoun County, Virginia.

Myrtle Hall Farm, also known as Meadow Farm, is a historic plantation house and farm located near Bluemont, Loudoun County, Virginia. The original section of the house was built about 1813, and consists of a two-story, brick main block with a smaller two-story service wing and single story kitchen addition. A two-story library addition was built in about 1850. The house is in the Federal style. Also on the property are the contributing stone springhouse (c.1813), The Mordecai Throckmorton Family Cemetery, wood shed (c. 1850), stone-lined well (c. 1813), tenant house (1949), two-story guest house (1930, 1949), tennis court (c. 1949), and stone entry (c. 1949).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Bear's Den Rural Historic District is a national historic district located at Bluemont, Clarke County and Loudoun County, Virginia. It encompasses 152 contributing buildings, 12 contributing sites, 8 contributing structures, and 1 contributing object. The district includes a collection of late-19th- and early-20th-century dwellings that were constructed primarily as summer homes by wealthy Washingtonians who were attracted by the mountain's cooler summer climate. Their architecture reflects a number of popular styles, primarily American Craftsman / Bungalow, Colonial Revival, and Queen Anne styles. Other contributing buildings include: farm outbuildings such as barns and stables; domestic outbuildings such as spring houses, meat houses, guest cottages, root cellars, and garages; a former school; and a former church. The contributing sites include the ruins of buildings; including picnic shelters, above-ground cisterns, an old road bed; and the contributing object is a county boundary marker.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center is a government command facility in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia, used as the center of operations for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Also known as the High Point Special Facility (HPSF), its preferred designation since 1991 is "SF".The facility is a major relocation site for the highest level of civilian and military officials in case of national disaster, playing a major role in continuity of government (per the U.S. Continuity of Operations Plan).Mount Weather is the location of a control station for the FEMA National Radio System (FNARS), a high frequency radio system connecting most federal public safety agencies and the U.S. military with most of the states. FNARS allows the president to access the Emergency Alert System.The site was brought into the public eye in 1974 by The Washington Post and the Associated Press, which mentioned the facility following the crash of TWA Flight 514, a Boeing 727 jetliner, into Mount Weather on December 1 of that year.

Cleremont Farm is a historic home and farm located near Upperville, Loudoun County, Virginia. The original section of the house was built in two stages between about 1820 and 1835, and added onto subsequently in the 1870s. 1940s. and 1980s. It consists of a stone portion, a log portion, and a stone kitchen wing. It has a five bay, two-story, gable-roofed center section in the Federal style. A one-bay, one-story Colonial Revival-style pedimented entrance portico was built in the early 1940s. Also on the property are the contributing original 1+1⁄2-story, stuccoed stone dwelling (1761); a stone kitchen from the late 19th or early 20th century; a stuccoed frame tenant house built about 1940; a stone carriage mount; and a series of five stone walls.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Snickers Gap, originally William's Gap, is a wind gap in the Blue Ridge Mountain on the border of Loudoun County and Clarke County in Virginia. The gap is traversed by Virginia State Route 7. The Appalachian Trail also passes across the gap. Bear's Den and Raven Rocks are adjacent to the gap. During the autumn bird migration the gap is a favored spot for birdwatchers to count and study the many raptors that follow the ridge on their way south.

Horse Shoe Curve is an unincorporated community in Clarke County, Virginia, United States. The community is located on a horseshoe curve on Route 679 7 miles (11 km) east-southeast of Berryville and has had a tavern since the early 1900s.

Bluemont is an unincorporated village in Loudoun County, Virginia located at the eastern base of Snickers Gap in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The village's center is located along Snickersville Turnpike (Virginia Route 734), 4 miles (6.4 km) west of the incorporated town of Round Hill. The village borders Virginia's fox hunting country and is within 1 mile (1.6 km) of the Appalachian Trail and the Bears Den and Raven Rocks formations in the Blue Ridge.Originally named Snickersville, the village renamed itself to Bluemont to help it attract visitors from Washington, D.C. when a predecessor of the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad extended its line westward from Round Hill in 1900. As of 2010, the Bluemont postal area had a population of 2,834. At 700 feet (210 m), it is the highest community in Loudoun County. Every fall it is home to the Bluemont Fair. A nearby landmark is Mount Weather, an operations and training facility above ground for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and is rumored to contain an underground facility designed to house or replace the U.S. government in the event that it is destroyed in an emergency (such as nuclear warfare).

The Bluemont Historic District comprises the historic core of Bluemont, Virginia. The town is located on the eastern side of Snickers Gap, with the majority of the district fronting on the Snickersville Turnpike, also designated Virginia State Route 734. The district includes 43 buildings, of which 36 are houses, five are commercial structure, a church and a community center. The oldest structure in Bluemont is Clayton Hall (1797), a large stone house. The Amos Clayton farm was located at the junction of Routes 734 and 760, now in the center of town. Relatively few pre-Civil War structures remain in Bluemont. Apart from Clayton Hall, the most significant is the Bluemont Methodist Church (circa 1851).Most of the district's houses date from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The completion of the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad line in 1900 to Bluemont brought prosperity and growth to the town. Two hotels, the Loudoun House Hotel (1900) and the Blue Ridge Inn (1904), served summer visitors to the mountaintop town.The Bluemont Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 23, 1984.

Rock Hill Farm is a historic home and farm located near Bluemont, Loudoun County, Virginia. The original section of the house was built about 1797, and has undergone at least four additions and renovations about 1873, 1902, 1947, and 1990. It is two-story, stuccoed stone, Quaker plan, Federal style dwelling with a gable roof. Also on the property are the contributing two-story, wood-frame bank barn (c. 1797); one-story, pyramidal-roofed, stucco-finished smokehouse (c. 1797); a two-story, gable-roofed, stucco and frame garage (c. 1797); one story, gable-roofed, wood-frame corncrib (c. 1873); one-story, gable-roofed, wood-frame office/dairy (c. 1873); a fieldstone run-in shed (c. 1873); a one-story, gable roofed, wood-frame stable (c. 1950); the remains of a formal boxwood garden (c. 1950); several ca. 19th-century, dry-laid, fieldstone fences (contributing); and a cemetery (c. 1820).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
