Hare Warren is a hamlet in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. At the 2011 Census the population of the hamlet was included in the civil parish of Ecchinswell, Sydmonton and Bishops Green. Its nearest town is Whitchurch, which lies approximately 4.5 miles (7.0 km) south-west from the hamlet. The hamlet is situated in the North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Ashley Warren is a hamlet in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. The settlement is within the civil parish of Ecchinswell, Sydmonton and Bishops Green, and is located approximately 7.3 miles (11.7 km) south of Newbury.

Cole Henley is a hamlet in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Whitchurch, which lies approximately 3.1 miles (5.0 km) south-east from the hamlet, just off the A34 road.

St Mary's Church, Laverstoke is a parish church in the Church of England in Laverstoke, Hampshire. The church is to the east of Laverstoke village, near the small village of Freefolk. It was built in 1896 to designs of the architect John Loughborough Pearson. It was constructed in flint with Bath stone dressings. It has a steeple on the south side containing a chapel.Pevsner is fairly scathing about the design by Pearson, saying "not a church to do him much credit...Nothing is vaulted, and the only a little more than humdrum feature inside is the wall-passage or detached shafting in the chancel's wall."

Freefolk is a village in Hampshire, England. It lies to the west and almost directly alongside the village of Laverstoke; the two villages are separated by the River Test. It is about 1.5 miles (2 km) east of Whitchurch and 1 mile (2 km) west of Overton on the B3400 road between Basingstoke and Andover. In the village is an inn named the "Watership Down", known locally as "the jerry". Built in 1840, it was called the Freefolk Arms but was renamed in honour of local author Richard Adams and his book Watership Down, which took its name from the down about 5 miles (8 km) to the north of the village. The village name was brought to many people's attention by the "Forever Freefolk" garden at the 2016 Chelsea Flower Show, sponsored by Brewin Dolphin and designed by Rosy Hardy of local nursery Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants. The garden highlighted the fragility of England's chalk streams, and won a silver medal.

Laverstoke Mill is a former paper mill located on the River Test in Laverstoke near Overton, Hampshire, England. The mill complex contains three Grade II listed buildings: the Mill House, Mill Cottages, and the Glazing House. After a major refurbishment between 2011 and 2013, the mill is now the distillery and visitor centre for Bombay Sapphire gin.

St Nicholas Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Freefolk, Hampshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands to the south of the B3400 road and the River Test, some 2 miles (3.2 km) east of Whitchurch.

Laverstoke ( LAV-ər-stohk) is a village in north west Hampshire, England. On the other side of the River Test there is the settlement at Freefolk which is included in the Laverstock census return. In the early 18th century, Laverstoke Mill was purchased by the Portals, a family of Huguenot immigrants from Languedoc who were establishing a successful paper making business. Henry de Portal was naturalised in 1711 and had the mill rebuilt in 1719. In 1724 he won the contract to make Bank of England notes and pioneered the use of the watermark in paper currency. Henry Portal's son Joseph went on to become High Sheriff of Hampshire and purchased the Laverstoke estate adjoining the mill. Following generations prospered further, becoming major land owners. By the 1790s they also owned the Manor at Freefolk Priors and Ashe Park House. Jane Austen and her family were acquainted with the Portals and two of her brother Edward's sons went on to marry members of the Portal family. In 1796 the Portals had the old Laverstoke House demolished and a new house erected in neo-classical style by John Bonomi. It is this house that still stands today (although no longer owned by the Portals and not open to the public). The Bombay Sapphire gin distillery has been located in the old paper mill since late 2014.

Wells-in-the-Field is a hamlet in the civil parish of Laverstoke situated in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Whitchurch, which lies approximately 1.2 miles (1.9 km) south-west from the hamlet.

Ladle Hill is a 10.5-hectare (26-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest west of Kingsclere in Hampshire. It is also a Scheduled Monument.

Litchfield is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Litchfield and Woodcott, in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. It is closely bypassed by the A34 trunk road between Newbury and Whitchurch, which follows the course of the former Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway. Litchfield railway station, which closed in 1960, was on this line. The station is a private house, not owned by C.A.H Wills who owns Litchfield farms estate and lives in the village. The station was sold by Hampshire County Council in 1978 and has been restored. The approach road is now a private drive to the property. In 1976 the Litchfield - Whitchurch bypass was opened and made use of the DN&SR trackbed south of Litchfield towards Whitchurch for a distance of one mile. In 1931 the parish had a population of 88.

Watership Down is a hill or a down at Ecchinswell in the civil parish of Ecchinswell, Sydmonton and Bishops Green in the English county of Hampshire, as part of the Hampshire Downs. It rises fairly steeply on its northern flank (the scarp side), but to the south the slope is much gentler (the dip side). The summit is 237 m (778 ft) above sea level, one of the highest points in Hampshire. The Down is best known as the setting for Richard Adams' 1972 novel about rabbits, also called Watership Down. The area is popular with cyclists and walkers. A bridleway, the Wayfarer's Walk cross county footpath, runs along the ridge of the Down which lies at the south-eastern edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Natural Beauty. Other nearby features include Ladle Hill, on Great Litchfield Down, immediately to the west. Part of the hill is a 10.37-hectare (25.6-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, first notified in 1978. The hill has a partially completed Iron Age hill fort on its summit, and the surrounding area is rich in Iron Age tumuli, enclosures, lynchets and field systems. Further to the west lies Beacon Hill. Watership Down is accessible via the large village of Kingsclere. Watership Down Stud is a horse-breeding establishment owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber and his wife Madeleine Gurdon, a former eventer, who live nearby at Sydmonton Court.
