The University of Otago School of Biomedical Sciences (formerly Otago School of Medical Sciences) is one of seven component schools in the University of Otago Division of Health Sciences (which also comprises Otago Medical School; Faculty of Dentistry; School of Pharmacy; School of Physiotherapy; University of Otago, Christchurch; and University of Otago, Wellington).The School of Biomedical Sciences is based in Dunedin, New Zealand, and comprises five departments: Department of Anatomy Department of Biochemistry Department of Microbiology and Immunology Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Department of PhysiologyIn addition to conducting teaching and research in the above fields, the School of Biomedical Sciences contributes to the teaching of the second- and third-year medical students at the University of Otago Medical School.

Dunedin Hospital is the main public hospital in Dunedin, New Zealand. It serves as the major base hospital for the Otago and Southland regions with a potential catchment radius of roughly 300 kilometres, and a population of around 300,000.

The Hanover Street Baptist Church was the first Baptist church in Dunedin, New Zealand. It is no longer used for worship and has been renamed Hanover Hall. The present building, the second for the congregation, was designed by Edmund Anscombe (1874–1948) and completed in 1912. As its name suggests, it is located in Hanover Street, 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) northeast of the city centre, close to the medical school. Initially Dunedin Baptists worshipped with other Free Church groups until they established themselves in a building of their own. The church and its Sunday school were founded in 1863. A Superintendent of Otago Thomas Dick (1823–1900) was one of the initial trustees. Dr William Purdie, an Edinburgh graduate and an early and distinguished medical practitioner in Dunedin, was a founding father. A number of notable politicians and other well-known New Zealanders have been connected with the church including Dame Silvia Cartwright, a former Governor-General of New Zealand, who spent most of her younger years in Dunedin.The congregation moved to another site in 1996. The building was unoccupied for a couple of years before being turned into a series of short lived restaurants and nightclubs. The structure is a fine design and was provided with good stained glass windows, some of which were removed when it was converted from a church to a bar. The present floor is apparently built some three feet above the original. While the overhead balcony pews appear to be intact they do not seem to be in good condition. One of the most interesting features is a pipe organ, which is believed to be only the second of its kind in New Zealand. (The other is at the Dunedin Town Hall.) The instrument has not been serviced for some time and it is uncertain whether it is in working condition. There is a bell tower, a prominent feature of the locality. The building has been classified a Category I historic place by Heritage New Zealand, with registration number 4792. It needs attention to restore its original character. Until the mid-2010s it was occupied by a business called The Monkey Bar, and bore related signage until October 2018. In 2016 it was purchased by a local couple for the purpose of housing the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra and was officially reopened for this purpose and renamed "Hanover Hall" in November 2018 by the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.

Knox Church is a notable building in Dunedin, New Zealand. It houses the city's second Presbyterian congregation and is the city's largest church (in terms of building size, rather than congregation size) of any denomination.Situated close to the university at the northern end of the CBD on George Street it is visible from much of the central city.

The Centre City Mall is the oldest existing and second largest shopping complex in Dunedin, New Zealand. Located in the central city, it is bounded by Great King Street and Castle Street in the block between St. Andrew's Street and Hanover Street, immediately to the south of Dunedin Hospital. The mall, built in the late 1970s, contains 20 shops, with the key tenant being Dunedin's largest supermarket, Centre City New World. Other shops include several clothing retailers, chemists, a cafe, a musical instrument retailer, a health food store, craft shops, and a florist. The design of the centre (excluding New World) is roughly square and single-storeyed, with a block of shops in the centre of a corridor loop, with the other shops to the outside. The New World supermarket extends from the southeastern end of this square along Castle Street. To the north is the mall's car park, which also has a subterranean level beneath the mall itself. A walkway, Albion Place, links Centre City with Dunedin's largest mall, the Meridian Mall.

Cumberland College is a residential college in Dunedin, New Zealand for the University of Otago. Cumberland College was established as a hall of residence in 1989. It is located in the former Dunedin Hospital Nurses' Home, built in 1916, across the road from Dunedin Hospital and the Queen Mary Maternity Hospital. Cumberland College is linked by tunnels to both Dunedin Hospital and Hayward College (formerly the maternity hospital). Over 7000 students have spent time living in Cumberland College since its establishment.Cumberland has a social program that includes floor events, inter-college competitions, regular sports events, ski trips, and the annual ball. Cumberland also provides tutorials in a number of university subjects for its residents, along with floor based Study Groups that have additional tutorial support. Cumberland is one of the few Residential Colleges to allocate bedrooms by course of study as part of its academic program.The current Warden at Cumberland College is Luke Morrison, alongside Deputy Wardens, Brian Satake & Jenna Lockhart, and Assistant Warden Zoey Taylor.

The Playhouse Theatre is a theatre in Dunedin, New Zealand. It was converted from a lodge into a 100-seat theatre by the Southern Comedy Players in 1962. Since the late 1960s it has been home to the Dunedin Repertory Society, who regularly perform youth productions for children.

The Meridian Mall is a large shopping complex in Dunedin, New Zealand designed by ASA Crone Architects, an Australian development company. At 16,000 m2 (172,222.6 sq ft) it is the largest retail mall in the southern South Island, and one of the largest in the South Island as a whole.

George Street is the main street of Dunedin, the second largest city in the South Island of New Zealand. It runs for two and a half kilometres north-northeast from The Octagon in the city centre to the foot of Pine Hill. It is straight and undulates gently as it skirts the edge of the hills to its northwest. South of The Octagon, Princes Street continues the line of George Street south-southwest for two kilometres.

Tūhura Otago Museum is located in the city centre of Dunedin, New Zealand. It is adjacent to the University of Otago campus in Dunedin North, 1,500 metres northeast of the city centre. It is one of the city's leading attractions and has one of the largest museum collections in New Zealand. Natural science specimens and humanities artefacts from Otago, New Zealand and the world form the basis for long-term gallery displays. An interactive science centre within the museum includes a large, immersive tropical butterfly rainforest environment. In February 2022 the museum was gifted the name Tūhura, meaning "to discover, investigate and explore" by local rūnanga, changing the official name to Tūhura Otago Museum.

Carrington College is a residential college of the University of Otago. This complex of buildings has accommodation for 243 students and was opened in 1945. It was the first university hall of residence in Australasia to accept both male and female students. It is named for G.W. Carrington, a former head of the Otago Education Board. The current Warden is Ali Norton. The College was known as Carrington Hall until 2006. The students at Carrington have a history of academic achievement across all fields of study, and there is a prevalent musical tradition within the College. Traditionally, Carrington has been known for its 'work hard, play hard' mentality, with students encouraged to make the most of every academic, social, sporting and cultural opportunity available to them.
