The Arad Wood House is an historic house in Cranston, Rhode Island. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1858 for N. Thornton, and is one Cranston's finest Italianate houses. Although it was built as a farmhouse, it was acquired in the 1890s by Arad Wood, one of Cranston's wealthiest businessmen, who operated a gentleman's farm of several hundred acres. The house was also later the first home of the Cranston chapter of the American Red Cross.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Reservoir Avenue Sewage Pumping Station is an historic wastewater pumping facility on the south side of the junction of Reservoir and Pontiac Avenues in southern Providence, Rhode Island. From the street it looks like a single-story brick structure with a hip roof, and metal doorways on its north and east elevations. This building stands atop a substantial concrete substructure, which houses a dry well and wet well. The dry well, on the eastern side, houses the pumps, while the wet well, occupies the western two-thirds of the facility. The floor of the interior includes glass blocks for viewing the facilities below, as well as metal trapdoors for accessing the pumps. Manual gate valves on the west side are used to control sewage flow through the west well. This facility is used to pump raw sewage eastward and uphill to a gravity conduit in Rutherglen Avenue. This conduit carries the sewage to the Field's Point treatment facility. The pumping station was built by the city of Providence in 1931, and is now owned by the Narragansett Bay Commission, which operates the region's wastewater treatment facilities. The facility was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Roger Williams Park Botanical Center is located in Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island. It opened in March 2007. It includes two connected greenhouses filled with plants, fountains, a fish pond and a small waterfall. It is the largest indoor garden open to the public in New England, encompassing approximately 12,000 square feet of indoor gardens.The Botanical Center includes two greenhouses: The Conservatory and the Mediterranean Room. There are over 150 different species and cultivars of plants including 17 different types of palms. All the plants, with the exception of the large palm trees, were installed by park personnel. Many of the plants were saved from the old greenhouse displays and replanted, specifically most of the Cacti, Agave and Aloe.

The neighborhood is bounded to the northwest by Interstate 95, to the northeast by Broad Street and Verndale Avenue, and on all other sides by the municipal boundary with Cranston. The population of the neighborhood, as of 2000, was 2,184. The neighborhood is 38.9% Non-Hispanic White, 7.6% Asian or Pacific Islander, 18.2% African-American, and 32.9% Hispanic. The median household income is $36,868, and the median family income is $42,896. 15.4% of families live below the poverty line.

Roger Williams Park is an elaborately landscaped 427-acre (173 ha) city park in Providence, Rhode Island and a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is named after Roger Williams, the founder of the city of Providence and the primary founder of the state of Rhode Island.

The Roger Williams Park Zoo of Providence, Rhode Island, contains more than 150 animals from around the world in natural settings. In 1986, it became the first zoo in New England to earn accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Founded in 1872, it is the third oldest zoo in the nation.

Cranston Stadium is a multi-use stadium complex located in Cranston, Rhode Island. It consists of Magciacomo Field, a baseball field, as well as Stebbins Field, an athletic field suitable for playing football, soccer, field hockey or lacrosse. The five-sided block is bounded by Peerless Street (northwest); Crescent Avenue (northeast); Midwood Street (east); Flint Avenue (south); and Jordan Avenue (southwest). The ballpark occupies the north portion of the complex, and the football stadium most of the south portion. There are also adjacent basketball and tennis courts.

Mashapaug Pond is the largest freshwater pond in the city of Providence, Rhode Island. Over the past four hundred years, Mashapaug Pond has been a site of indigenous settlement and displacement, deforestation and agriculture, urban and industrial development, remediation and activism. The pond was a significant site to Indigenous people for centuries before and after 1636, when the Europeans settled in Rhode Island. After King Philip's War a large number of the Narragansett people were either killed or driven out of the region. One of the small surviving communities happened to be the native community at Mashapaug, which transformed into the West Elmwood neighborhood.Over the next couple of centuries, the West Elmwood neighborhood became the city's first racially integrated neighborhood. In the 1960s, the redevelopment agency of Providence partook in the nation's claimed that areas around Mashapaug Pond, including the West Elmwood neighborhood, was blighted and substandard. As a result, the West Elmwood neighborhood was eliminated and the area surrounding Mashapaug Pond was renamed the Reservoir neighborhood. During the 19th century, the Gorham Manufacturing Company built its 37-acre plant on the shore of the pond. From 1890-1967 Gorham played a vital role in the development of the city of Providence and of the American decorative arts but also poisoned Mashapaug Pond. Today, due to surface water run-off and industrial discharges, Mashapaug Pond is extremely toxic. The former Gorham location, which includes the pond's cove, are contaminated with toxic metals, solvents and combustion waste products. In an effort to raise awareness about the pond and its condition, a nonprofit called the Urban Pond Procession (now UPP Arts) was established. UPP Arts used the arts and the humanities to advocate for environmental issues in Rhode Island and particularly in Mashapaug Pond.
