Alderminster

Ettington Park, Ettington, Warwickshire, England is a 19th-century country house with earlier origins. The historic home of the Shirley family, whose ownership dates from the time of the Domesday Book, the house was remodelled between 1858 and 1862 for Evelyn Shirley. Shirley's architect was John Prichard, although the involvement of Prichard's long-time partner John Pollard Seddon is disputed. The Grade I listed building, described by Chris Pickford and Nikolaus Pevsner as "the most important and impressive High Victorian house in the county", is now a hotel.

Newbold on Stour is a village in Warwickshire about 6 miles (10 km) south of Stratford upon Avon. Population details are included within Tredington. The Church of England parish church of Saint David was built in 1833. It was restored in 1884-89 and the spire was removed in 1948. St. David's parish is now part of the Benefice of the Stourdene Group, which also includes the parishes of Alderminster, Butlers Marston, Ettington, Halford and Pillerton Hersey. Newbold has a village store and a public house: the White Hart.

Armscote is a small village some three miles north of Shipston-on-Stour in Warwickshire, England. It is a mile off the A429 road, which is the modern line of the Fosse Way Roman road. A major event of interest in the history of the village was the visit of George Fox, the Quaker founder. It was here in 1673 that he preached and was then arrested.

RAF Atherstone was a former Royal Air Force station located 2.25 miles (3.62 km) south of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England, 7.5 miles (12.1 km) north-west of Shipston on Stour. The airfield opened in 1941 when it was used by No. 22 Operational Training Unit RAF as a satellite from RAF Wellesbourne Mountford. Through its life the airfield was home to a number of units before closing in 1945. However local sources state that the airfield was wrongly sited because it was directly on the flightpath from Wellesbourne and also the whole airfield was on hill, the main runway having quite a steep slope. Atherstone had its name changed during operations when, in May 1942, it became RAF Stratford.

Alscot Park is an English Grade I listed Georgian country house in Preston on Stour, some 3 miles (5 km) south of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. It was built in a Rococo Gothic style for James West in the early 18th century.The house itself is built of limestone ashlar to a T-shaped plan with a hipped slate roof and has a two-storey frontage of 7 bays. It stands in 4000 acres of park and farmland, which is Grade II listed and bisected by the River Stour. Several other associated buildings, such as stables and entrance lodges, are also listed. A number of former features of the estate, such as pleasure grounds, an obelisk and a Chinese pavilion have since been lost.

On 2 November 2007 a major fire occurred at a warehouse near the village of Atherstone on Stour in Warwickshire, England. Four firefighters from the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were killed whilst tackling the blaze. This was the largest loss of life for a fire brigade in the United Kingdom for 35 years. In 2012, three of their commanding officers were acquitted of manslaughter charges and Warwickshire County Council was fined for failing to ensure safety at work.

Halford is a village and civil parish about 3 miles (5 km) north of Shipston-on-Stour in Warwickshire, England. The village is where the Fosse Way Roman road (now the A429 road) crosses the River Stour. The 2011 Census recorded the parish's population as 341. By the river are the earthworks and buried remains of Halford Castle, a motte castle believed to be the predecessor of the present manor house.
