UIC College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Chicago is one of the oldest pharmacy schools in the US, and oldest unit of the University of Illinois system.

Polk is an 'L' station on the Pink Line of the Chicago Transit Authority. It is adjacent to Rush University Medical Center within the Illinois Medical District in the Near West Side community area.

West Side Park was the name used for two different baseball parks that formerly stood in Chicago, Illinois. They were both home fields of the team now known as the Chicago Cubs of the National League. Both parks hosted baseball championships. The latter of the two parks, where the franchise played for nearly a quarter century, was the home of the first two world champion Cubs teams (1907 and 1908), the team that posted the best winning percentage in Major League Baseball history and won the most games in National League history (1906), the only cross-town World Series in Chicago (1906), and the immortalized Tinker to Evers to Chance double-play combo. Both ballparks were what are now called "wooden" ballparks.

The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry evolved from the Columbian Dental College, founded in Chicago in 1891. The college informally affiliated with the University of Illinois in 1901, and was chartered as an official college of the university in 1913.

Roosevelt, originally 12th, was a rapid transit station on the Chicago "L"'s Douglas Park branch between 1896 and 1952. Constructed by the Metropolitan West Side Elevated Railroad, it was one of the first stations opened on the branch in April 1896. One of the busiest stations on the branch for the first decades of its existence, its ridership became lackluster in the 1920s and started declining precipitously in the latter half of that decade. Although several other stations were closed in a December 1951 service revision to the branch, Roosevelt was spared that fate; instead, its service and facilities were drastically reduced and it became a "partial-service" station. This proved short-lived, however, and the station closed altogether in 1952.

The University of Illinois at Chicago's School of Public Health is public health school recognized by the Council on Education for Public Health that awards undergraduate and graduate degrees in public health and health administration. Located on UIC's West Campus:, the School of Public Health was founded in 1970 as an expansion of the University of Illinois Medical Center. It later, along with rest of UIMC, was consolidated into the University of Illinois at Chicago. Now constituting one of the 15 colleges of UIC. The school is ranked seventeenth in public health programs in the U.S. News and World Report rankings.

Rush Medical College is the medical school of Rush University, located in the Illinois Medical District, about 3 km (2 miles) west of the Loop in Chicago. Offering a full-time Doctor of Medicine program, the school was chartered in 1837, and today is affiliated primarily with Rush University Medical Center, and nearby John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. In 2021, Rush Medical College was ranked 64th among research institutions in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report.

The Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center (RADC) is a research center located in Rush University Medical Center. The Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center is one of 29 Alzheimer's centers in the U.S. designated and funded by the National Institute on Aging.The RADC is a leader in research into the causes and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. One of its earliest research projects was the Religious Orders Study. An important influence on the development of the Religious Orders Study was the Nun Study founded by Dr. David Snowdon. The Religious Orders Study was initially funded by the National Institute on Aging in 1993. It is a study utilizing volunteers in the religious community, including priests, nuns, and brothers, who agree to donate their brains to the RADC after they die, providing doctors with an opportunity to look for postmortem correlations between lifestyle and Alzheimer’s disease. Scientists at the RADC use the brains to study a broad range of factors relating to Alzheimer's disease and other common diseases of age, and share tissue samples from those brains, as well as data, with other medical institutions around the country.The RADC's Memory and Aging Project (MAP) followed in 1997 and uses volunteers from the community. The study design is similar to the Religious Orders Study and enrolls volunteers without dementia who agree to annual clinical evaluation and organ donation.Both studies are ongoing, and have created research opportunities at Rush University, including the Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay MIND diet research, Minority Aging Research Study (MARS), which is a study of decline in cognitive function and risk of Alzheimer's disease in older African Americans, with brain donation after death added as an optional component, the Latino CORE study, relating to older Latino adults, and a study newly-funded by NIA to study Alzheimer's disease in Brazil.The RADC also sponsors an array of community outreach and education programs.

The Chicago Dental Infirmary was the first dental school in Chicago. It only accepted students that already possessed Doctor of Medicine degrees, making it a post-doctorate school. Training consisted of two courses of lectures in dentistry. A year after opening, the school changed its name to the Chicago College of Dental Surgery.

The John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County (formerly Cook County Hospital) is a public hospital in Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is part of the Cook County Health and Hospital System, along with Provident Hospital of Cook County and several related centers, which provides public primary, specialty, and tertiary healthcare services to residents of Cook County, Illinois. Cook County Hospital was founded 1832, and became an innovative teaching hospital. In 2001-2002, it moved into new quarters adjacent to its historic Beaux-Arts complex in the Illinois Medical District and was renamed for hospital board president John Stroger Jr.

Rush University Medical Center (Rush) is a nationally ranked academic medical center in the Illinois Medical District neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It is the flagship hospital for the Rush University System for Health, which includes Rush Oak Park Hospital and Rush Copley Medical Center, and serves as the primary teaching hospital in affiliation with Rush University.
