Oldendorf, Melle

Melle (German: [ˈmɛlə] ) is a city in the district of Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany. The city corresponds to what used to be the district of Melle until regional territorial reform in 1972. Since then Melle is the third largest city in Lower Saxony in terms of surface area.

The Meller Möbelfabrik GmbH, Melle (MMM) was a manufacturer of high-quality home and office furniture in Melle, Germany founded in 1870 as J.H. Krumnack, Möbelfabrik, Dampfsägewerk und Holzhandlung and liquidated in 1975 after a chequered history. With up to 200 employees at times, the owner-managed, medium-sized company was an important part of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe furniture industry. Some of the buildings are now listed and well preserved.

Violenbach is a river of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The violenbach springs south of Borgholzhausen. It is a right tributary of the Else east of Melle.

Hunte is a 189-kilometre (117 mi) long river in north-western Germany (Lower Saxony), a left tributary of the Weser. The Hunte rises in the Wiehen Hills. In the North German Plain it flows through lake Dümmer. It flows generally northwards through the towns Bad Essen, Diepholz, Wildeshausen and Oldenburg. It flows into the Weser in Elsfleth. The part between Oldenburg and the Weser is navigable for coastal cargo ships. The Küsten Canal, suitable for inland navigation only, links the Hunte in Oldenburg to river Ems near Papenburg.

Westerhausen is a railway station located in Westerhausen, Germany. The station is located on the Löhne-Rheine railway. The train services are operated by WestfalenBahn.

The TERRA.vita Nature Park (German: Naturpark TERRA.vita) is located in the German states of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia and is divided into northern and southern areas. The park is also known as the Osnabrück Land Nature Park and sometimes by its old name of North Teutoburg Forest-Wiehen Hills Nature Park. The woodlands of the Nature Park comprise about 70% of its total area.

Steinbach is a small river of Lower Saxony and of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Laerbach, which itself is a tributary of the Else.

Gesmold is a town and former municipality, now part of Melle, in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is placed between the Wiehengebirge and the Teutoburg Forest. It features Gesmold Castle, a Renaissance building. Another interesting place is the Church of St. Peter.

The Else is a left tributary of the river Werre in the northeast of North Rhine-Westphalia and in southern Lower Saxony. The Else is a distributary of the river Hase and begins at a river bifurcation near Melle.

Wellingholzhausen is a village, now part of the municipality of Melle, in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 25 km southeast of Osnabrück and 25 km northwest of Bielefeld.

Schloss Ledenburg (Ledenburg manor) is a moated Schloss in Bissendorf-Nemden, Osnabrück district, Lower Saxony, Germany, which probably dates from the 15th century. Originally built with four wings, it was reduced to two wings during restoration after a fire in 1618. It belonged to many noble families. It housed what is called now the Ledenburg Collection, an 18th-century collection of poems by Eleonore von Grothaus and a music collection, where music by Georg Philipp Telemann, Carl Friedrich Abel and others was rediscovered in 2015 and subsequently published.

The Protestant Church (Evangelische Kirche or. Ev. Kirche) in Borgholzhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is the church of the Lutheran parish there, which belongs to the Halle district of the Evangelische Kirche von Westfalen. The building dates back to the 14th century. It features a unique carved stone altarpiece from 1501.
