Federal Land Office (Steubenville, Ohio)

The Congress Lands was a group of land tracts in Ohio that made land available for sale to members of the general public through land offices in various cities, and through the United States General Land Office. It consisted of three groups of surveys: Ohio River Base Congress Lands East of Scioto River Congress Lands North of Old Seven Ranges Congress Lands West of Miami River Northwest Ohio North and East of the First Principal Meridian South and East of the First Principal Meridian

Fort Steuben was a fortification erected in Feb. 1787 on the Ohio River in eastern Ohio Country at the northern end of the Seven Ranges land tract to be surveyed. It was at the location of the modern city of Steubenville, Ohio. The fort was built by Major John Hamtramck and named for Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, a Prussian army officer who had served under General Washington. The original purpose was to provide protection from Indians for the first surveyors to venture into the Northwest Territory.

Steubenville Female Seminary, also known as Beatty's Seminary for Young Ladies or Steubenville Seminary, was a female seminary in Steubenville, Ohio. It was founded by Presbyterian minister Charles Clinton Beatty in 1829. Beatty served as Superintendent and his wife, Hetty Elizabeth Beatty, served as principal. The school had 7 students during the first year. The campus was located on South High Street between Adams and South Streets with a view of the surrounding hills.In 1856, control went to Dr. and Mrs. A.M. Reid. In 1863, they were succeeded by Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Wightman. At its peak, the school educated 150 students at a time. The faculty was usually between 10 and 12 teachers. Many of the students became missionaries. It closed in 1898. Over the life of the institution, the school educated 5,000 women.Following its closing the buildings were used for a variety of purposes, including apartments. They were demolished in 1953 to make way for the High Street Thoroughfare, today known as State Route 7.

Steubenville is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. Located along the Ohio River 33 miles (53 km) west of Pittsburgh, it had a population of 18,161 at the 2020 census. The city's name is derived from Fort Steuben, a 1786 fort that sat within the city's current limits and was named for Prussian military officer Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben. It is a principal city of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area, which had a 2020 population of 116,903 residents. Steubenville's nickname is the "City of Murals", after its more than 25 downtown murals. The campuses of Franciscan University of Steubenville and Eastern Gateway Community College are in Steubenville. Historically, it was known as the birthplace and home town of Edwin Stanton, Secretary of War during the American Civil War. It is known as the city where legendary entertainer Dean Martin of the Rat Pack was born and raised. It has recently attracted attention for the Steubenville Nutcracker Village, an annual Christmastime event.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is a historic Greek Orthodox church building near downtown Steubenville, Ohio, United States. Constructed for a large Methodist Episcopal congregation in the early twentieth century, it was acquired by the present occupants in 1945. Featuring Neoclassical elements such as a large dome and a prominent colonnade, it has been named a historic site.

Holy Name Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral and parish church in Steubenville, Ohio, United States. It is the seat of the Diocese of Steubenville.

The Market Street Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting Market Street in Steubenville, Ohio and West Virginia Route 2 in Follansbee, West Virginia over the Ohio River. As a project of the Steubenville Bridge Company, it was constructed in 1905 by the Ohio Steel Erection Company, the framework was created by the Penn Bridge Company, and the original steel was done by Jones and Laughlin Steel Company and Bethlehem Steel. The bridge spans a length of 1,794 feet (547 m) with a width of 20.7 feet (6.3 m). As of 2002, the average daily traffic was estimated around 15,000 vehicles. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

Steubenville High School is a public high school in Steubenville, Ohio, United States. It is the only secondary school in the Steubenville City School District.

East Steubenville is an unincorporated community in Brooke County, West Virginia, United States. It lies across the Ohio River from Steubenville, Ohio. East Steubenville is the site of the East Steubenville Panhandle Archaic Site, discovered by the West Virginia Archaeological Society in 1938. The site consists of the remains of an ancient Native American encampment perched 300 feet above the Ohio River on a ridgetop.

Coketown is an unincorporated community on the Ohio River in Brooke County, West Virginia, United States. Coketown lies north of Follansbee along West Virginia State Route 2.

WSTV (1340 AM) was an American broadcast radio station licensed to Steubenville, Ohio, serving the Northern Ohio Valley. The station was owned and operated by Keymarket Communications and the broadcast license was held by Keymarket Licenses, LLC. Due to a dispute in regard to the land where the broadcast tower is located, the station was forced to go silent on December 5, 2011.

WOGH (103.5 FM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, United States. It serves Western Pennsylvania including part of Greater Pittsburgh, as well as the West Virginia Panhandle and Eastern Ohio. It is owned by Forever Media and airs a country radio format known as "Froggy". WOGH has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 19,500 watts. The transmitter is on Burr Avenue in Mingo Junction, Ohio, near the Ohio River. It shares a tower with WTOV-TV.
