St Mary's Church, Garthorpe

Garthorpe is a village and civil parish (sometimes called Garthorpe and Coston) in Leicestershire, England, in the Melton district. It is about five miles east of Melton Mowbray. The parish includes the villages of Garthorpe and Coston, and is near Saxby (in Freeby parish), Wymondham, Buckminster and Sproxton. The village's name means 'farm/settlement with an enclosure'. The village is positioned at the confluence of two watercourses, therefore another suggestion is 'farm/settlement on a triangular piece of land'. The civil parish had a population of 418 at the 2011 census. St Mary's Church is a redundant Church of England parish church in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The building is Grade I listed.

Saxby railway station was a station serving the villages of Saxby and Freeby, Leicestershire. It was located between the two villages.

Wymondham Rough is a 6.0 hectares (15 acres) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) east of Stapleford in Leicestershire. The SSSI is part of the 12.5 hectare Wymondham Rough nature reserve, which is managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust. This clay grassland has a rich flora, dominated by common bent, Yorkshire fog, false oat-grass and cock's foot. A poorly drained area has plants such as water avens, and there are drier soils in the west of the site. There is access from a gate north of the level crossing.

Stonesby is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Sproxton, within the Melton borough of Leicestershire, England. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) northeast of Melton Mowbray, and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southeast of Waltham on the Wolds. In 1931 the parish had a population of 140. Stonesby broadly consists of a small number of limestone habitats concentrated around the local parish church, set amongst a broad area of arable land.

Stapleford Park is a Grade I listed country house in Stapleford, near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, England, which is now used as a hotel. It was originally the seat of the Sherard and Tamblyn families, later the Earls of Harborough and, from 1894, of the Gretton family, who would become the Barons Gretton.

The Waltham transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility at Waltham-on-the-Wolds, 5 miles (8 km) north-east of Melton Mowbray. It sits inside the Waltham civil parish near Stonesby, in the district of Melton, Leicestershire, UK. It has a 315 metres (1,033 ft) guyed steel tubular mast. The main structure height to the top of the steelwork is 290.8 metres (954 ft), with the UHF television antennas contained within a GRP shroud mounted on top.

In 1931 the parish had a population of 145. On 1 April 1936 the parish was abolished and merged with Freeby. The village is the site of the large Stapleford Park. The historic Stapleford Miniature Railway runs in the park. It has a church called St Mary Magdalene's Church.

Stapleford Miniature Railway is an historic steam locomotive-hauled 10+1⁄4 in (260 mm) gauge railway at Stapleford Park, Stapleford near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, England. Considered one of the finest examples of its type, the railway is now private but still attracts thousands of visitors from the UK and abroad during its two public charity events each year.
