Pontrobert

Dolobran, in the county of Montgomeryshire (now Powys) in Wales, is a historic estate which was the earliest known seat of the expansive Lloyd family, prominent Quakers, of which in the 18th century a junior branch, the Lloyd family of Birmingham, seated at Farm, Bordesley, became prominent in and around Birmingham as iron-founders and founded Lloyds Bank, today one of the largest banks in the United Kingdom. The grade II* listed manor house known as Dolobran Hall about 8 miles north-west of the town of Welshpool, is situated in the parish of Meifod to the west of the village of Meifod and to the east of the village of Pontrobert. One of the family historians, Humphrey Lloyd (1975), estimated the historic estate of Dolobran to have comprised about 1,000 acres. In 2015 Dolobran Hall and its 70-acre estate are used for farming and industrial training by the J.M. Evans Partnership. John Meirion Evans (1926–2015) of Dolobran Hall by his wife Edith was father to Maurice, Keith and Robert. In 2008 former farmer Rob Evans founded a company to train construction workers in the use of plant and machinery called "Training For The Future", based at "The Brick Barn Dolobran Hall".

Pentre Camp is an Iron Age hillfort, near the hamlet of Llangynyw and about 2.5 miles (4 km) north-east of Llanfair Caereinion, in Powys, Wales. It is a scheduled monument.

Llangynyw (also Llangyniew) is a hamlet and community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, mid Wales. It is located on a hill inside a bend in the River Banwy, approximately two miles north-east of Llanfair Caereinion. The community includes the hamlet of Pontrobert. The focus of the hamlet is the Parish Church of St. Cynyw, which dates from between 1450 and 1500 and is a Grade II* listed building.The parish of Llangynyw had a population of 551 when the 1801 census was taken, 430 in 1901, and 295 in 1971, increasing back to 582 at the 2011 census. Pentre Camp, an Iron Age hillfort, is near the hamlet.

Caereinion (fort of Einion) was a medieval cantref in the Kingdom of Powys, or possibly it was a commote (cwmwd) within a cantref called Llŷs Wynaf. It was divided into the manors of Uwch Coed and Is Coed.It lay towards the south of the kingdom, bordering with the commote of Mochnant Uwch Rhaeadr of the cantref of Mochnant and the cantref of Mechain to the north, the commotes of Ystrad Marchell and Llanerch Hudol in the cantref of Ystlyg to the east, the cantrefi of Cedewain to the south and Cyfeiliog to the west.It roughly corresponds to the later hundred of Mathrafal.Castle Caereinion, Caereinion Fechan, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanerfyl, Llangadfan, Llangyniew and part of Berriew are within the territory of this cantref.

Mathrafal near Welshpool, in Powys, Mid Wales, was the seat of the Kings and Princes of Powys probably from the 9th century until its destruction in 1213 by Prince Llywelyn the Great.

Heniarth Halt railway station is an unstaffed halt on the narrow gauge Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway serving the hamlet of Heniarth. This station is a request halt and lies 6+3⁄4 miles (10.9 km) from Welshpool's Raven Square terminus. Alighting passengers are required to step down onto the grass as there is no platform. The railway crosses the River Banwy Bridge 200 yards to the east of the halt. Opened as Heniarth Gate on 6 April 1903 the station was renamed 'Heniarth' on 1 February 1913.Originally the halt had a loop which catered for farm and timber traffic. The Great Western Railway withdrew passenger services on 9 February 1931. and the line closed completely on 3 November 1956. By 1963 the line had a passenger service restored by the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway.

The River Banwy is a river about 19 miles (31 km) long in Powys, Wales. It is a tributary of the River Vyrnwy. The Banwy rises in the hills near the pass which takes the A458 road between Mallwyd and Welshpool. The river is called Nant Cerrig-y-groes at its source near Moel y Llyn. Then flowing east, it joins a number of lesser streams before reaching Pont Twrch near the village of Y Foel, at its confluence with the river Twrch. Two miles further on, it is joined by the river Gam, which flows down from the Nant yr Eira, between Y Foel and Llangadfan. After flowing past the small village of Llanerfyl, the river meanders between hills of moderate altitude to reach a bridge at Llanfair Caereinion. For the last 5 miles (8.0 km) of its course it turns northwards through a narrow valley. 'Yr Hafesb' is its local name here. It passes Mathrafal, the seat and court of the kings of Powys. Its confluence with the Vyrnwy is near Newbridge.

Llanfair Caereinion railway station located in Llanfair Caereinion is the Western terminus of the 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. The locomotive running shed and workshops are located here, along with a tea room and gift shop. The original corrugated iron booking office and waiting room survive and have been restored for use as the registered office of the company.Llanfair Caereinion station lies 8 miles (13 km) from Welshpool's Raven Square terminus. The station was opened on 6 April 1903. The station stands at 400 feet (120 m) above sea level. The Great Western Railway withdrew passenger services on 9 February 1931. and the line closed completely on 3 November 1956. By 6 April 1963 the line had a passenger service restored by the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway.

The Plynlimon and Hafan Tramway was a 2 ft 3 in (686 mm) gauge narrow gauge railway in Cardiganshire (now Ceredigion) in Mid Wales. It ran from Llanfihangel station (later renamed Llandre station) on the Cambrian Line, through the village of Tal-y-bont and the valley of the Afon Leri, into the foothills of Plynlimon Fawr. It was built to serve the lead mines at Bwlch Glas and stone quarries around Hafan and opened in 1897, closing just two years later. The line was a little over 7 miles (11 km) long and, despite running a short-lived passenger service, it served no communities of more than 100 people.

Caereinion High School (Welsh: Ysgol Uwchradd Caereinion) is an 11–18 mixed, bilingual community secondary school and sixth form in Llanfair Caereinion, Powys, Wales. It was established in 1894.Spanish and French are offered up to A-Level, and A-Level students are also given the option of learning either Italian, German, Russian or Mandarin through the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification scheme, a qualification which is designed to enhance Welsh pupils' key skills and appreciation of the country's heritage and history. 54% of the pupils are fluent Welsh speakers according to the latest Estyn inspection report.The school closed in August 2022 and reopened as Ysgol Bro Caereinion, a new 3-18 school.

The Battle of Maes Moydog took place at the field of Moydog (Welsh: Maidog, also Meidiog) on 5 March 1295 during the revolt of Madog ap Llywelyn and others against English rule, near the modern-day town of Llanfair Caereinion in Powys, Wales.

Llanfair United are an amateur football team who are from Llanfair Caereinion, Powys, Wales. They play in the Ardal Leagues North East whilst their reserve side play in the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Division 1. They play their games at Mount Field which is situated in the town itself. The club’s most successful periods were in the 1970s and 1980s when they won numerous Montgomeryshire Amateur League championships. The club is also the only club to win the Emrys Morgan Cup 5 times. In 2012, the club set up a Ladies team and a Youth Team (under 19's). In 2013–14 the club had arguably their most successful season to date. The first team won the Central Wales Cup, the Reserve side won the Montgomeryshire Amateur League, the Ladies won the North Powys league and league cup whilst the Youths won the Mid Wales Youth League. In 2014–15, the first team won the Mid Wales League and the Montgomeryshire Challenge Cup, both for the first time in the club's history. Llanfair won the 2018–19 Mid Wales Football League to gain promotion to the newly created second tier FAW Championship North & Mid. Llanfair now play in the Ardal Leagues North East.
