31 and 33 Dee Banks is a pair of semi-detached houses in Chester, Cheshire, England. The houses are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. The historical importance of the houses, in addition to their listing, is that they were designed by the Chester architect John Douglas, who lived in No. 33 for 20 years.

Walmoor Hill is a large house in an elevated position overlooking the River Dee on the west side of Dee Banks, Chester, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The authors of the Buildings of England series describe it as a "house of considerable size and panache".

The Chester Raft Race is an annual charity event taking place every July on the River Dee in Chester, organised by Chester Round Table The rafts race against the clock over a quarter mile (400 m) course, starting by the rowing club, and passing under pedestrian suspension bridge. Until 2013 it continued down the weir and finished on the south bank above the road bridge. Although the race is over at this point, the remnants of the rafts and crew then had to retrace their route back up the weir and return to the site assembly/parking area (The Meadows). No races were held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Uffington House is in Dee Hills Park, Chester, Cheshire, England. It was built in 1885 for Thomas Hughes, the author of Tom Brown's School Days, and designed by Edward Ould. It is constructed in red brick with stone and terracotta dressings and a red tile roof. The house is in three storeys with cellars and an attic. Its architectural features include turrets surmounted by spires with lead finials. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Chester Castle is an area around the castle in Chester. It was historically an extra-parochial area and today remains a civil parish, albeit with no inhabitants. The parish is bounded by Castle Drive to the south, Grosvenor Street (the A483) to the west, and Castle Street and St Mary's Hill to the east. Apart from the castle/prison, the parish also includes the courthouse for the Crown Court , County Hall, and the Cheshire Military Museum. In April–May 1966, the infamous Moors murders case was tried at Chester Assizes held in the courthouse which is now the Chester venue for the Crown Court. It was part of the Chester Rural District, despite being in the middle of the city, and did not form part of Chester County Borough. This meant that County Hall was in the administrative county of Cheshire which it administered. The Local Government Act 1972 saw it become part of Chester District, along with the rest of Chester Rural District. Since April 2009 County Hall has been the headquarters of the Cheshire West and Chester Council. In 1891 it had a population of 249, which had declined to 8 by 1971. According to the 2011 Census it had no inhabitants at all. Chester Castle is the smallest civil parish by area in the United Kingdom.

Chester was a non-metropolitan local government district of Cheshire, England from 1974 to 2009. It had the status of a city and a borough, and the local authority was called Chester City Council. Apart from Chester itself, which was the principal settlement, the district covered a large rural area. Other settlements included Malpas and Tarvin.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and, before its closure, was an Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of that diocese. In the series Buildings of England, the architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner stated that he regarded it as "the boldest of Douglas' church designs".It ceased to be a church in 2016, when it was closed by the Diocese, as it was found to be in very bad repair. It was named by the Victorian Society as one of the Top Ten Heritage Buildings at Risk for 2016.

Great Boughton is a civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It includes the villages of Boughton Heath and Vicars Cross. It had a population of 2,627 according to the 2011 census. It is sometimes confused with the separate settlement of Boughton, which lies just to the west, within the boundaries of the city of Chester. In the 1870s, Great Boughton was described as: a township and a district in Cheshire. The township is in St. Oswald parish, and partly within Chester city; and lies on the Chester and Crewe railway, 1 mile E of Chester.Great Boughton is a parish that comprises the villages of Boughton Heath, Caldy Valley, Vicars Cross and a section of Huntington. Attractions include the Sandy Lane Aqua Park with ferry to Meadows, Caldy Nature Reserve and Boughton Hall Cricket Club. Great Boughton came into the news when a controversial development at the disused Saighton Camp caused the remodelling of a roundabout. The new design features a hamburger roundabout which has also proved controversial and the roundabout now creates delays especially on the A41 where tailbacks frequently reach 2 miles.
