Navestock

Navestock Side is a hamlet near the A128 road, in the Navestock civil parish of the Brentwood District, in the county of Essex, England. It is about three miles from the town of Brentwood. It has a small country house called Abbotswick.

St Nicholas Church is the Church of England parish church in the Essex village of Kelvedon Hatch. It was first recorded around 1254, when the rectory of the church of (Magdalen) Lever was valued at 6 marks, rising to 10 marks in 1291 and £12 in 1535. The original medieval parish church was fully rebuilt in the early 1750s, retaining a 15th-century bell and the octagonal font, which probably also dates to the 15th century. £380 was spent restoring it in 1873; but by 1893 the main population centre of the village had shifted elsewhere, and it was decided to build a new church nearer to that centre. Costing £2000, designed by the local architect John Thomas Newman and using a site originally intended as a new village cemetery, the new redbrick church was consecrated in 1895 and included many fittings from the medieval and Georgian building, including the font, the 1460–1480 bell and the 19th-century seating. It was restored in 1927 and is a Grade II listed building.The old church was allowed to fall into disrepair and also damaged by a vengeance weapon in 1945. Some medieval floor slabs and 16th-to-18th-century wall monuments survived in the old church until at least 1956, including some for the Wrights of Kelvedon Hall, on whose estate it stood, and the Luther family of Moyses's, who probably gave the church its 1674 silver cup and paten, which bear their family coat of arms.

The Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker at Kelvedon Hatch, in the Borough of Brentwood in the English county of Essex, is a large underground bunker maintained during the Cold War as a potential regional government headquarters. Since being decommissioned in 1992, the bunker has been open to the public as a tourist attraction, with a museum focusing on its Cold War history.

In 2019 the built up area had an estimated population of 2,434. The parish had a population of 2,563 in 2001, reducing to 2,541 at the 2011 Census and climbed back up to 2,631 in 2021.It is home to the Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker, the largest and deepest cold war bunker open to the public in South East England. The Coppice, Kelvedon Hatch, is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The Coppice, Kelvedon Hatch is a 9.4-hectare (23-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Kelvedon Hatch in Essex.The site is an ancient semi-natural wood in the valley of a small tributary of the River Roding. It is base-rich alder on the valley floor, and oak and hornbeam in other areas. The geology is complex, with areas of Claygate Beds and Bagshot Beds. The shrub layer is sparse, but the stream provides an additional habitat.There is no public access, but a footpath runs along the western boundary.

Weald Country Park is a 700-year-old, 500 acre (2 km²) country park in South Weald in the borough of Brentwood in the English county of Essex. It is on the north-east fringe of Greater London. Weald manor, parts of which dated to the 16th century, was bought by Sir Anthony Browne in 1547 and he died at Weald Hall in 1567. In 1685, Erasmus Smith bought it from Sir William Scroggs. The current layout is largely the result of landscaping carried out in the naturalistic manner of Capability Brown for Hugh Smith, lord of the manor from 1732 to 1745. In 1752, the estate was sold to Thomas Tower of Iver in Buckinghamshire, a lawyer and MP for Wareham in Dorset. Christopher Tower succeeded as the owner in 1778 and immediately commissioned Robert Adam to design a new dining room. On his death in 1810, his son, Christopher Thomas Tower, succeeded until 1867; he enlarged the estate and enclosed some commons as "waste". The park is now managed by Essex County Council.

Kelvedon Hall is a country house in the village of Kelvedon Hatch, near Brentwood, Essex, England. Originally the site of an important medieval manor, the current house was built in the mid-18th century by a family of Catholic landowners, the Wrights, who had bought the manor in 1538. The last of the Wrights to live at the house died in 1838 and it was then let, before being sold to a school. In 1937 the hall was bought by Henry “Chips” Channon, a wealthy Anglophile socialite. Kelvedon appears repeatedly in Channon's diaries, an intimate record of his social and political life from the 1920s to the 1950s. The hall remains the private home of the Channon family. It is a Grade I listed building.
