Great Milton

Great Haseley is a village and civil parish in South Oxfordshire, England. The village is about 4.5 miles (7 km) southwest of Thame. The parish includes the hamlets of Latchford, Little Haseley and North Weston and the house, chapel and park of Rycote. The parish stretches 6 miles (10 km) along a northeast — southwest axis, bounded by the River Thame in the north, Haseley Brook in the south and partly by a boundary hedge with Little Milton parish in the west. The 2011 Census recorded a parish population of 511.

Wells Farm is a 64-hectare (160-acre) nature reserve on the eastern outskirts of Little Milton in Oxfordshire. It is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.This is a working farm which grows wheat and barley. The fields have six metre wide margins which have been sown with wildflower seeds. There are also areas of wetland, grassland and woods. Birds include yellowhammer, grey partridge and red kite.There is a footpath through the farm.

Oxford services is a motorway service station next to junction 8A of the M40 motorway at Waterstock near Wheatley in Oxfordshire, several miles to the east of the city of Oxford. It is named after the nearby city of Oxford. The services are owned by Welcome Break and opened in the summer of 1998. It was the third of four service stations to open on the M40. There is also a Ramada hotel on the site. There is also a Welcome Break area at the Peartree Roundabout. It is one of four services along the 89-mile M40 motorway; the others are Beaconsfield, Cherwell Valley and Warwick. It is also known as "Rippy Fountain" services, due to the water displays outside the park which are similar to the now defunct Ripsaw ride at Alton Towers.

Little Milton is a village and civil parish in Oxfordshire, about 6 miles (10 km) southwest of Thame and 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Oxford. The parish is bounded to the west by the River Thame, to the south by Haseley Brook (a tributary of the Thame), to the north by field boundaries and to the east by an old track between Great Milton and Rofford that is now a bridleway. Little Milton village is on raised ground above the River Thame floodplain, about 250 feet (76 m) above sea level. The A329 road between Thame and Shillingford via Stadhampton passes through the village. In the centre of the village is the Grade II listed Milton Manor, parts of which date back to the 15th century. The Church of England parish church of Saint James is a Gothic Revival building designed by John Hayward and built in 1844. Hayward also designed the west tower, which was added in 1861.

Tiddington railway station was on the Wycombe Railway and served the village of Tiddington, Oxfordshire. On 24 October 1864 the Wycombe Railway opened an extension from Thame to Oxford. The line passed just south of Tiddington, although Tiddington was not provided at first with a station, the station being opened and appearing on timetables for the first time on 1 June 1866. The station building being constructed in timber with a small canopy over part of the platform. A signal box was provided in 1892 but was downgraded to a ground frame by 1907. On 7 January 1963 British Railways withdrew passenger services between Princes Risborough and Oxford, closed all intermediate stations including Tiddington, and dismantled the track between Thame and Morris Cowley.

Tiddington is a village in the civil parish of Tiddington-with-Albury, in the South Oxfordshire district, in Oxfordshire, England. It is about 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) west of Thame, on the A418 road between Thame and Oxford. The 2011 Census recorded Tiddington-with-Albury's population as 683. Tiddington is on the county boundary with Buckinghamshire. It was a manor and hamlet of the parish of Albury, although for most of its history it has been a larger place than Albury. In 1866 Tiddington became a separate civil parish, on 1 April 1932 the parish was merged with Albury to form "Tiddington with Albury". In 1931 the parish had a population of 163.

Waterperry Gardens are gardens with a museum in the village of Waterperry, near Wheatley, east of Oxford in Oxfordshire, England.

Waterperry is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Waterperry with Thomley, in the South Oxfordshire district, in Oxfordshire and close to the county boundary with Buckinghamshire, England. It is beside the River Thame, about 7 miles (11 km) east of Oxford. The Church of England parish church of Saint Mary the Virgin is partly Saxon and has notable medieval stained glass, sculptural memorials, Georgian box pews and memorial brasses. In 1961 the parish had a population of 161. On 1 April 1994 the parish was abolished and merged with Thomley to form "Waterperry with Thomley".The 2011 Census combined data for the village with Waterstock, due to the small population of the village.Waterperry House is a 17th-century mansion, remodelled early in the 18th century for Sir John Curson and again around 1820. It is now a house of seven bays and three storeys with a balustraded parapet and Ionic porch.The house has extensive grounds, and until 1971 housed the Waterperry School of Horticulture under Beatrix Havergal. Since 1971 the house has been owned and used as a country retreat by the School of Economic Science. The gardens are now a horticultural business and visitor destination, Waterperry Gardens. The 8 acres (3 ha) of gardens include rose and alpine gardens, a formal knot garden, trained fruit and nursery beds and a riverside walk. The grounds also have nurseries, orchards, plant centre and teashop. Gardening courses are still taught here. The grounds host the annual Art in Action festival of art and craft each July.

Hormer was an ancient hundred of Berkshire, England. It consisted of the area immediately west of Oxford within the bend of the River Thames, all of which was transferred to Oxfordshire on 1 April 1974 in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972. It included the ancient parishes of Abingdon Besselsleigh Cumnor North Hinksey South Hinksey Radley Seacourt Sunningwell Wootton Wytham St. Helen (part)The hundred also included the almost uninhabited extra-parochial area of Bagley Wood, which became a civil parish in 1858 and was joined to Radley in 1900.The name of the hundred is derived from what was presumably its original meeting place, an unidentified Horningamere "pool of the Hornings". The Hornings were the people who lived in the "horn", the angle of land in Berkshire enclosed by the bend of the Thames.The hundred came into existence before the time of the Domesday Book in 1086, when it had the same area except for the parish of Besselsleigh, which joined the hundred by 1321. In 1086 the entire hundred belonged to Abingdon Abbey. The court of the hundred met at Bagley Wood, and later at Cumnor.

Tiddington-with-Albury is a civil parish in South Oxfordshire. It includes the village of Albury (Ordnance Survey grid reference SP655051), the larger village of Tiddington (OS Grid ref. SP649051) and the hamlet of Draycot (Ordnance Survey grid reference SP6460). It was formed by a merger of the civil parishes of Albury and Tiddington in 1932 and in 2011 had a population of 660 across an area of 4.4 km².

Draycot is a hamlet on the River Thame, in the civil parish of Tiddington-with-Albury, in the South Oxfordshire district, in the county of Oxfordshire, England. It is situated approximately 4½ miles to the west of Thame. In 1881 it had a population of 17.The name derives from Old English dræg (a slipway or drag, a sledge, or a dray), with cot (a cottage or shelter).After the Norman Conquest the lord of the manor was Richard, son of Rainfrid de Bretteville whilst Milo of Wallingford was tenant-in-chief. In 1086, the Domesday Book recorded Draycot as having seven households (five villager and two slave). There were two ploughlands, one lord's plough team, one men's plough team, and a ten acre meadow.In 1886 the hamlet was incorporated into Waterstock civil parish, and subsequently in 1954 transferred to Tiddington-with-Albury, reducing Waterstock to 903 acres.

Waterstock is a village and civil parish on the River Thame about 4.5 miles (7 km) west of the market town of Thame in Oxfordshire. The parish is bounded to the north and west by the river, to the south largely by the A418 main road, and to the east largely by the minor road between Tiddington and Ickford Bridge across the Thame. On the north side of the parish, the river forms the county boundary with Buckinghamshire as well as the parish boundary with Ickford and Worminghall. Waterstock village is on a minor road north of the A418 and is surrounded by open farming land. In the village are about 50 houses and a farm along one main street.
