Strain is an unincorporated community in Richland Township, Washington County, Arkansas, United States. It is located between Fayetteville and Elkins. The community consists of a small number of homes located around a road junction near the Middle Fork White River. A post office called Strain was established in 1884, and remained in operation until 1888.

Harris is an unincorporated community in Elkins Township, Washington County, Arkansas, United States. It is located east of Fayetteville and within the city limits of Elkins near Arkansas Highway 16.A post office was established at Harris in 1888, and remained in operation until 1957.

Carter (1960–2018) was an unincorporated community in Washington County, Arkansas, United States. It is located on Arkansas Highway 74 between Arnett and Sulphur City. At times it was also known as Carter's Store, Carter Store, and Hicks. A post office, for all these names at different times existed from 1875 to 1953. The community has the name of John C. Carter, first postmaster.

The Adrian Fletcher Residence was a historic house at 6725 Washington (East Huntsville) Road in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It was a single-story stone and wood structure with a shallow-pitched gable roof, set near the north side of an 80-acre (32 ha) parcel of land on the south side of East Huntsville Road. It was divided roughly into three sections, consisting of the main house, an open breezeway, and a carport. Built in 1957, it was a significant early work of E. Fay Jones, a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright; it was his first commission completed after official recognition as an architect, and it became a showcase of his work, being written up and photographed for several magazines.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.Bill Clinton lived there in the mid-1970s while he was a law professor at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The house burned down on June 8, 2017, and was declared a total loss. It was delisted from the National Register in 2021.

A combination of the former unincorporated communities of Harris and Hood, Elkins was established in 1964. Located immediately east of Fayetteville in the Northwest Arkansas metropolitan statistical area, Elkins has been experiencing rapid growth in recent years, doubling in population between the 2000 and 2010 censuses.

Baldwin is a former unincorporated community in Fayetteville Township, Washington County, Arkansas, United States. It has since been annexed by Fayetteville. It is located in east Fayetteville along Huntsville Road near Lake Sequoyah toward Elkins.

The Goff Farm Stone Bridge is a historic bridge in eastern Fayetteville, Arkansas. It carries Goff Farm Road (County Road 170) across an unnamed creek just north of Stonebridge Meadows Golf Club. The bridge is a single-span stone arch with a span of 20 feet (6.1 m) and a total bridge length of 150 feet (46 m). The bridge's builder is unknown, and its design suggests it was built circa 1860, when the road it carries was a major east–west thoroughfare connecting Fayetteville and Huntsville. It is believed to be the oldest masonry bridge in the state, and is one of the state's small number of surviving 19th-century stone bridges.The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

It is one of ten public high schools in Washington County, Arkansas and the sole high school administered by the Elkins School District. The high school's attendance boundary includes the majority of Elkins.

The White River Bridge in Elkins, Arkansas is a historic structure carrying County Road 44 over the White River in eastern Washington County. The bridge is a patented closed-spandrel arch design called the Luten arch, owned by the Luten Bridge Company of Knoxville, Tennessee, which emphasized strengthened piers and abutments, resulting in a reduced need for material. This bridge has three arches, with a total length of 192 feet (59 m). After construction in 1921, farmers in southeast Washington County were better able to bring their products to market in Elkins.The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Stokenbury Cemetery is a historic cemetery on Arkansas Highway 16 in Elkins, Arkansas. Established c.1846, it is the best-preserved property representing the early settlement of Elkins (now a bedroom suburb of Fayetteville). The cemetery is 1.2 acres (0.49 ha) in size, and contains 153 marked and identified graves, 49 graves denoted by unmarked stones, and at least 16 unmarked or illegible burials. It contains several examples of high-style Victorian funerary art.The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Mineral Springs Community Building is a historic multiuse civic building on County Road 34 (Green Road) in rural Washington County, Arkansas east of West Fork. It is a modest single-story wood-frame structure, with a gable roof, clapboard siding, and a stone foundation. It was builtin 1915 and enlarged in 1947, giving it its present T shape. The building served the local community as a school, town meeting hall, and church, with the use as a school ending in 1946. The building is a significant example of a surviving one-room schoolhouse in the county.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
