St Gregory's Church, Fledborough

Fledborough is a hamlet in Nottinghamshire, England. Although now redundant, the Anglian parish church of St Gregory's, earned the hamlet the nickname of "the Gretna Green of the Midlands" in the 18th century, due to the ease in which couples could obtain a marriage licence from the Reverend W. Sweetapple.The Bassett family effectively owned Fledborough from the fourteenth century to the seventeenth.

Ragnall is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England. At the time of the 2001 census it had a population of 102, increasing to 146 at the 2011 census. It is located on the A57 road one mile west of the River Trent. The parish church of St Leonard was extensively rebuilt in 1864–67. Ragnall Hall at the south end of the village is a 19th-century replacement of an early 17th-century hall, the main parts of the earlier hall surviving as barns.The village is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Ragenehil. The name is derived from two elements: one is the Old Scandinavian personal name Ragni; the other element is the Old English hyll, meaning "hill". Thus, Ragenehil represents "Hill of a man called Ragni".[1] The hamlet of Fledborough is one mile south of Ragnall. The church of St Gregory at Fledborough has some 14th-century stained glass in the east window of the north aisle, restored in 1852–57.

Fledborough Viaduct is a former railway viaduct near Fledborough, Nottinghamshire which is now part of the national cycle network.

High Marnham Power Station was a coal fuelled power station in Nottinghamshire, to the west of the River Trent, approximately 0.5 miles (0.8 km) north of the village of Marnham. Construction began in 1954, power generation commenced in 1959, and the station became fully operational in 1962. The plant operated until 2003 when it was decommissioned, though the cooling towers weren't demolished until 2012. High Marnham was the most southerly of three power stations which lined the River Trent, known locally as Megawatt Valley, the others being West Burton and Cottam. It was the first 1000 MW [946 MW net] power station built and commissioned in Europe; it operated at higher boiler pressure and temperatures than earlier plant.

North Clifton is a village and civil parish about 12 miles north of Newark-on-Trent, in the Newark and Sherwood district, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. In 2011, the parish had a population of 216. The parish touches Thorney, Fledborough, Newton on Trent, South Clifton and Ragnall.

Dunham-on-Trent is a village and civil parish in Nottinghamshire, England. It is located on the A57 road, about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) west of Dunham Bridge, a toll bridge crossing the River Trent. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 351, falling slightly to 343 at the 2011 Census.The earliest part of the Grade I listed parish church of St Oswald is the tower, dating from the 15th century and Perpendicular in style. The rest is mostly Victorian, built 1861–62 by T.C. Hine, father of George Thomas Hine, though the south nave wall remains from an earlier reconstruction completed in 1802.The site of Whimpton Village, a deserted medieval village, is about 1.25 miles (2.0 km) west of Dunham.

Dunham Bridge is a toll bridge across the River Trent in England. It spans the border between Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire to the west and east respectively. It forms part of the A57 road, in the section between the Great North Road and Lincoln. It takes its name from the nearby village of Dunham-on-Trent. The General Estates Company, which also runs the Bathampton and Whitchurch toll bridges, has a stake in the ownership of Dunham Bridge.
