Grimsbury Castle

Hermitage railway station was a railway station on the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway which served the villages of Hermitage and Oare in Berkshire. The station closed in 1962. The station house remains and is occupied by a scaffolding company. The adjacent site became a light industrial site and was occupied by the Arena Seating Company. The Arena Seating site was subsequently re-developed for housing in 2006–07. The residential development is named Hermitage Green.

Pinewood Halt railway station was a station on the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway in England. It served the northern parts of Hermitage and Oare both in Berkshire. The halt was opened on 11 September 1933 in the hope of increasing passenger traffic. It closed in 1962.

The Order of Silence (also known as The White Ladies) was a small Christian community based in Cold Ash, Berkshire between 1912 and 1921.Members of the order were exclusively women, who were required to dress simply, often in white veils and robes. This led to members of the order becoming known as The White Ladies. Twenty-five members of staff worked at the community. Visitors were able to attend lectures on mysticism for a small fee.The organisation was focused on self-sufficiency, with members spending time gardening and cooking as well as making clothes. They were expected to be guided by the Bible in their day-to-day activities, as well as maintaining silence.

Cold Ash Quarry is a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) geological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Newbury in Berkshire. It is a Geological Conservation Review site.The quarry is unique in Britain for the collection of fossil plants and insects which occur in a layer of silt and clay within the Reading Beds. The fossils date to about 60 million years ago. The fossil flora consists of well-preserved angiosperm leaves, in some of these fossils there is evidence of the activity of contemporary leaf-miner insects. This is the only location in Britain at which fossil leaf-miner activity have been discovered.The site is private land with no public access.
