Summit railway station (Snowdon Mountain Railway)

Snowdon () or Yr Wyddfa (pronounced [ər ˈʊɨ̞̯ðva] (listen)) is the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands. It is located in Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri) in Gwynedd (historic county of Caernarfonshire). It is the busiest mountain in the United Kingdom and the third most visited attraction in Wales; in 2019 it was visited by 590,984 walkers, with an additional 140,000 people taking the train. It is designated as a national nature reserve for its rare flora and fauna. The rocks that form Snowdon were produced by volcanoes in the Ordovician period, and the massif has been extensively sculpted by glaciation, forming the pyramidal peak of Snowdon and the arêtes of Crib Goch and Y Lliwedd. The cliff faces on Snowdon, including Clogwyn Du'r Arddu, are significant for rock climbing, and the mountain was used by Edmund Hillary in training for the 1953 ascent of Mount Everest. The summit can be reached by a number of paths (there are six main paths) and by the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a rack railway opened in 1896 which carries passengers the 4+3⁄4 miles (7.6 kilometres) from Llanberis to the Summit station. The summit building, called Hafod Eryri, houses a cafe and is open only when the railway is operating; it opened in 2009 to replace one built in the 1930s. The railway generally operates from March to the end of October, with trains running to the summit station from May. The daily running schedule depends on weather and customer demand. Snowdon is one of three mountains climbed as part of the National Three Peaks Challenge.

Garnedd Ugain, often referred to as "Crib-y-Ddysgl", is a pyramidal mountain in Wales that forms part of the Snowdon Massif. It is the second-highest peak in Wales, and lies just under one kilometre north of the summit of Snowdon itself. It is part of the Snowdon Horseshoe route, being linked to Crib Goch via the col at Bwlch Coch, and to Snowdon summit via the col at Bwlch Glas. It is also linked to Cwm Glas to the northeast via a steep arete called Clogwyn y Person, which joins the main Crib y Ddysgl ridge about 500 metres (1,600 feet) east of the summit.

Llechog is a top of Garnedd Ugain on the Snowdon massif in Wales. It is the top of a long crest of cliffs that start in Llanberis and finishes on Garnedd Ugain. The nearby Clogwyn Station is a stop of the Snowdon mountain railway. The summit is a rocky peak sitting out from cliffs which fall steeply down to the Nant Peris valley. The viewpoint is commanding, where the full prominence of Glyder Fawr, Y Garn, Elidir Fawr and Crib Goch can be admired.A second top of the same name can also be found about 1/2 mile to the south-west of Snowdon summit, overlooking Cwm Clogwyn.

Glaslyn (Welsh: Blue lake) is a lake in the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, north-west Wales.

The Afon Colwyn (English: River Colwyn) is a small river in Gwynedd, north-west Wales, a tributary of the Afon Glaslyn. It has its source on the south-western flank of Snowdon. It first flows west to cross the A4085 Caernarfon to Beddgelert road at Pont Cae'r Gors just south of Rhyd Ddu, then flows south parallel to the A4085 to Beddgelert. On the way it is joined by two tributaries, Afon Cwm-du and Afon Meillionen. At Beddgelert it joins the Glaslyn, to then flow south to Tremadog Bay near Porthmadog.The Colwyn is a short and fast-flowing river. It generally carries less water than the Glaslyn, but water levels can rise very rapidly when there is heavy rain. The river is popular with whitewater kayakers and anglers.

Clogwyn is an intermediate station on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. It is located on an exposed ridge overlooking the Llanberis Pass and Clogwyn Du'r Arddu cliffs, a popular climbing spot. The line starts in the valley bottom at Llanberis at an altitude of 353 ft (108 m), Clogwyn station stands at 2,556 ft (779 m).The summit station stands at 3,493 feet (1,065 m), 68 feet (21 metres) below the summit of the mountain. The station opened with the railway on 6 April 1896, but both closed the same day following an accident. They reopened on 9 April 1897 without mishap and have operated since except during wartime. The station has one platform.

The Snowdon Massif or Yr Wyddfa massif is one of the three mountain groups in Snowdonia (Eryri), north Wales, to include mountains over 3,000 feet (914 m) high. It occupies the area between Beddgelert, Pen-y-Pass and Llanberis. It is surrounded by the Glyderau to the north-east, Moel Siabod to the east, the Moelwynion to the south, Moel Hebog, the Nantlle Ridge and Mynydd Mawr to the west, and by flatter land leading down to Caernarfon and the Menai Strait to the north-west. The Snowdon Horseshoe is the name given to the semi-circular ring of ridges and peaks on Snowdon's (Yr Wyddfa) eastern side, i.e. facing down Dyffryn Mymbyr towards Capel Curig. The peaks in the Horseshoe are those of Y Lliwedd, Snowdon, Garnedd Ugain and Crib Goch.

Clogwyn Du'r Arddu (Welsh pronunciation: [ˈklɔɡwɨ̞n ˈdɨːr ˈarðɨ̞], translates as the "black cliff of the black height"), or "Cloggy", is a north-facing rhyolite set of cliffs located on the northern flank of Snowdon mountain. Cloggy is considered to be one of the best traditional climbing areas in Britain, and has been called "The shrine of British climbing", and a "crucible for the development of most of the finest climbers in Britain and the scene of many of their finest achievements".

Indian Face is a 45-metre (148 ft) rhyolite rock climbing route on the "Great Wall" of the East Buttress of Clogwyn Du'r Arddu, in Wales. When English climber Johnny Dawes completed the first free ascent of the route on 4 October 1986, it was graded E9 6c (5.13a X), the first-ever E9-graded route, and was considered one of the hardest traditional climbing routes in the world.Indian Face is still considered one of the world's most intimidating traditional climbs, and even decades after its first ascent, it is rarely repeated. The ascent was an historic moment in the transition from traditional climbing as the dominant form of extreme rock climbing (in Britain, and elsewhere), to the safer form of sport climbing, which became the main focus for the leading climbers.

Rocky Valley Halt is an intermediate station on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. It consists of a narrow platform sheltered by the rocky outcrop of Llechog to the east. Immediately beyond the platform the line joins the exposed ridge on which it runs for about half a mile. The line starts in the valley bottom at Llanberis at an altitude of 353 ft (108 m), Rocky Valley Halt stands at 2,330 ft (710 m).The summit station stands at 3,493 feet (1,065 m), 68 feet (21 metres) below the summit of the mountain. The halt is a later addition to the line, opening after the Second World War. Trains do not normally stop at the halt, but may terminate there if Clogwyn and the summit are considered too windy. The station has one platform.

Y Lliwedd is a mountain, connected to Snowdon in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. Its summit lies 898 metres (2,946 ft) above sea level. The eastern flanks are steep cliffs rising above Glaslyn and Llyn Llydaw. Y Lliwedd is the most conspicuous of the peaks for those who approach Snowdon via the Miners' and Pyg tracks. Few that summit Snowdon continue over to Y Lliwedd as the challenge of Wales' highest peak is enough, leaving Y Lliwedd quiet and peaceful even when queues are forming at the summit of Snowdon. Hikers and mountaineers often pass over Y Lliwedd when walking the Snowdon Horseshoe. The noted British climber George Mallory undertook many of his early climbs here. It was also the site of considerable training activity for the 1953 British Everest Expedition. The north face of Y Lliwedd was explored in the late 19th century and in 1909 was the subject of the first British climbing guide, The Climbs on Lliwedd by J. M. A. Thomson and A. W. Andrews. Two subsidiary peaks of Y Lliwedd are listed as Nuttalls: Lliwedd Bach 818 metres (2,684 ft): SH628532 and Y Lliwedd East Peak 893 metres (2,930 ft): SH623532.

Y Lliwedd East Peak is the twin top of Y Lliwedd in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. It is only 5 metres shorter than the main summit of Y Lliwedd. The summit marked by a small pile of stones, the views being similar to Y Lliwedd, except for Gallt y Wenallt being in view.
