The Theatre Royal is an art-deco theatre in Norwich, Norfolk, England. It celebrated its 250th anniversary on the 31st of January 2008 and is one of the country's oldest established theatres. Many well known acts have played here over the years, including Debbie McGee, Ching Lau Lauro, William Charles Macready, Charles Kean , Tom Thumb and his spouse (Mr and Mrs Stratton), Paganini, Donald Sinden, Bernard Cribbins and The Bolshoi Ballet.It hosts a large range of touring productions. The theatre had a £10m refurbishment in 2007, designed by Tim Foster Architects.In 2015, plans were launched for the new £15m Stage Two building under the direction of the then CEO Peter Wilson MBE. The new building was to house one of europe's most technically advanced arts education facilities, and a new 200 seat auditorium. In 2016, it was announced that Peter was to depart the Theatre Royal, after 25 years at the helm. It was later announced that the new auditorium would be named the Peter Wilson Studio. In mid 2016, Stephen Crocker, a former deputy CEO of The Lowry theatre was announced as the new Chief Executive. In 2019, Norwich Theatre Royal was rebranded to become the Norwich Theatre group alongside Norwich Playhouse.

The Forum is a community building in Norwich, Norfolk in England. It stands opposite St Peter Mancroft Church. Built on the site of the previous Norwich Library which burnt down in 1994, the Forum was designed by Michael Hopkins and Partners, and built as a millennium project for the East of England, being finished in October 2001. The Forum is part of Norwich 12, a collection of notable buildings in Norwich spanning the Norman, medieval, Georgian, Victorian and modern eras. It is visited by more than 2.5 million people every year.The majority of the public area of the building is occupied by the Norfolk & Norwich Millennium (NML) library, which spans across all three floors and has been regularly named as the most popular library in the UK. The building was also home to the local Tourist Information Centre, which has now been replaced with a citizens' advice centre, and currently houses the BBC East offices and studios, where the regional television news bulletin BBC Look East and local radio station BBC Radio Norfolk are based. An open mezzanine looks out across the floor and the glass front of the building, and currently houses a Pizza Express restaurant. The amphitheatre-like steps at the front have provided a venue for functions such as amateur theatrical performances, outdoor opera, musical competitions, art exhibitions, processions, and celebrations. Because the Forum is funded partly by lottery grants, they hold certain events which are free of charge for people to attend. The Forum is commonly used as a meeting place, and the plaza area attracts skateboarders and free runners.

A mass grave, highly probable to have been created during the historically attested episode of antisemitic violence in Norwich on 6 February 1190 CE, existed in a medieval well in the Chapelfield area of the city underneath what is now the Chantry Place shopping centre. It contained seventeen individuals, of which eleven were children. At least five of the individuals were related to each other. All of the genetically-sequenced individuals were Ashkenazi Jews. The well was discovered in September 2004 during excavation of the area for the shopping centre, and an investigation took place in 2011. The bones were reburied in Earlham Road Cemetery in 2013. The results of further DNA sequencing and analysis of six of the individuals were published in 2022.

Greater Norwich is a planned unitary authority in Norfolk, England. It will be formed from the City of Norwich, 19 parishes from Broadland and 16 parishes from South Norfolk. It will be centred on Norwich, which will be its largest settlement and will include the outlying towns of Costessey, Sprowston and Thorpe St Andrew, It will border the other districts in the county, West Norfolk to the west and East Norfolk to the east. The area has a population of 278,285.

The Great Blow was a pro-royalist riot and resultant explosion that took place on 24 April 1648 in Norwich during the Second English Civil War. 98 barrels of gunpowder were detonated in Committee House, causing the largest explosion recorded in 17th century England. The riot can be attributed to many complex causes including excise tax, strict policies upon churches, and impressment. The inciting incident, however, was an 18 April 1648 petition which accused Norwich Mayor John Utting of helping royalists into local power and requested that he should be taken in custody to the House of Commons in London. A counter-petition from Utting encouraged a royalist riot which spread from the city's market and Chapel Field to the houses of the mayor's supporters and the gunpowder stores in Committee House, eventually leading to the accidental explosion due to an unknown direct cause. Contemporary estimates of deaths varied between 80 to 200. 40 buildings were destroyed, amounting to £20,000 of damage, and the windows of two nearby churches were shattered by the blast. 8 men were executed for their apparent roles in the riot of the 108 who stood trial; 26 of the others were fined £30, 7 were imprisoned and 2 were whipped. The explosion and its context were named a 'mutiny', 'blow' or 'crack' by its contemporaries.

Bethel Hospital is a former hospital and Grade II* listed building in Norwich, United Kingdom. Opened in 1713 on Committee Street (now Bethel Street), it began as the first purpose-built lunatic asylum in Britain. It became part of the National Health Service and thus an annexe to Hellesdon Hospital in 1948, and in 1974 became an outpatient unit for children needing psychiatric treatment before closing by 1995.

St Stephen's Church, Norwich is a Grade I listed parish church in the Church of England in Norwich.

St Peter Mancroft is a parish church in the Church of England, in the centre of Norwich, Norfolk. After the two cathedrals, it is the largest church in Norwich and was built between 1430 and 1455. It stands on a slightly elevated position, next to the market place.St Peter Mancroft is a member of the Greater Churches Group.

Norwich City Hall is an Art Deco building completed in 1938 which houses the city hall for the city of Norwich, East Anglia, in Eastern England. It is one of the Norwich 12, a collection of twelve heritage buildings in Norwich deemed of particular historical and cultural importance. It is Grade II* listed.

The Bethel Street drill hall office is a former military installation in Norwich, Norfolk. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Norwich War Memorial (also known as Norwich City War Memorial or Norwich Cenotaph) is a First World War memorial in Norwich in Eastern England. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the last of his eight cenotaphs to be erected in England. Prior to Lutyens' involvement, several abandoned proposals had been made for commemorating Norwich's war dead, and by 1926 the newly elected lord mayor was determined to see the construction of a memorial before he left office. He established an appeal to raise funds for local hospitals in memory of the dead as well as a physical monument. He commissioned Lutyens, who designed an empty tomb (cenotaph) atop a low screen wall from which protrudes a Stone of Remembrance. Bronze flambeaux at either end can burn gas to emit a flame. Lutyens also designed a roll of honour, on which the names of the city's dead are listed, which was installed in Norwich Castle in 1931. A local disabled veteran unveiled the memorial on 9 October 1927. It was moved from its original location to become the centrepiece of a memorial garden between the market and the City Hall in 1938. The structure on which the garden is built was found to be unstable in 2004 and the memorial was closed off pending repairs which began in 2008. The work was completed in 2011, during which time the memorial was restored, having fallen into disrepair while it was closed off, and rotated to face the city hall rather than the market place. It was rededicated on Armistice Day 2011 and is today a grade II* listed building. In 2015, it became part of a "national collection" of Lutyens' war memorials.

Chantry Place, formerly Intu Chapelfield and before that Chapelfield, is a shopping centre in Norwich city centre, on a site previously occupied by the Caleys (later Rowntree Mackintosh and Nestlé) chocolate factory. As Chapelfield, the centre opened in 2005. It adopted Intu branding in 2013 following the renaming of its parent Capital Shopping Centres to become Intu Properties in line with most of the company's centres. Intu entered administration in June 2020 and Chapelfield transferred to new ownership in October that year, being renamed Chantry Place.
