Fourth Avenue Methodist Church

The Board of Extension of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, later known as Methodist Center Building is a historic building at 1115 S. 4th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The building was constructed in 1915 in a Classical Revival style and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.It was designed by architect Brinton B. Davis (1862-1952).

Walnut Street Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist, Christian former megachurch in Louisville, Kentucky. It is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Kentucky Baptist Convention, and the Long Run Baptist Association.

Louisville Memorial Auditorium, located at 970 South Fourth Street, is a concert venue of Greek Revival design. It was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1929, as a memorial to the people of Louisville who served in World War I. In 1954, the ceiling was lowered and the side balconies were closed off reducing the seating capacity from 2,349 to 1,742 to improve the acoustics. Memorial Auditorium is home of the world's largest Pilcher organ and the largest operating pipe organ in the region. The instrument is sometimes referred as an orchestral pipe organ, as it includes sounds such as a French Horn, Tuba, a Cor Anglais which you often see in a symphonic orchestra. The organ contains a Tibia, which would be recognized as a large flute, which are usually found in Theater Organs. This historic four-manual instrument with 5,288 pipes has been in operation since opening. The acoustic renovation all but completely closed off the pipe chambers from the renovated hall. It has been designated a landmark by the Louisville Metro Landmarks Commission and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it is now used mainly by organizations for recitals, graduations, etc., it hosted many rock concerts in the 1960s and 1970s, including The Rolling Stones, Chicago, Bruce Springsteen, and Kiss.

During the American Civil War, Taylor Barracks was a military induction center in Louisville, Kentucky, for African-American troops, and after the war it was a United States Army base for both black and white troops during Reconstruction.

The Porter–Todd House, an Italianate house at 929 S. 4th St. in Louisville, Kentucky, was built in 1869. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.It is a white-painted brick building with two front porches that are "among a very few fine examples of decorative Victorian cast iron work remaining in Louisville."The house was built for Charles C. Porter, a milliner, sometime during 1869–1875, but Porter had to mortgage the house by 1876. The mortgage-holder, James Todd, eventually acquired the property at a bankruptcy auction, and descendants of Todd seem to have owned and rented out the house until 1929.In 1979 it was the home of the American Saddle Horse Breeders Association. The house may have been moved or destroyed.

The Filson Historical Society, founded in 1884, is a privately supported historical society located at 1310 South 3rd Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The Filson is an organization dedicated to continuing adult education through a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal, Ohio Valley History, a quarterly magazine, The Filson, weekly lectures, historical tours, and exhibits.The Filson's mission is to collect, preserve, and tell the stories of Kentucky and Ohio Valley history and culture. In 2017, the Filson began a new initiative to document, preserve, and study the history of Jewish life and experience in Louisville and the Ohio Valley region, establishing the Jewish Community Archive. The Filson hosts programs and exhibitions that engage critically and honestly with the past with topics such as: Commemorating Juneteenth, David Blight's talk on Frederick Douglas, Christina Snyder's discussion of Great Crossings: Indians, Settlers, and Slaves in the Age of Jackson, Alaina Roberts I've Been Here All the While: Black Freedom on Native Land, and Dan Gediman's presentation on reckoning with slavery in Kentucky. In the summer of 2020, Filson published a list of historical resources on racial inequality in Louisville and issued a community response to racism.

Presentation Academy, a college-preparatory high school for young women, is located in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky, United States, just north of Old Louisville in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville. Founded in 1831 by Mother Catherine Spalding, foundress of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, it is the oldest school in continuous operation in Louisville.

First Christian Church (Immanuel Baptist Church) is a historic church building at 850 S. 4th Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The Beaux Arts building was designed by McDonald & Dodd and built in 1910. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.In 2015, the building was purchased by Immanuel Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church, and a complete renovation project was begun in May 2016.

The historic Calvary Episcopal Church was established in 1857 and is located at 821 South 4th Street Louisville, Kentucky. This stone gothic church was built in Old Louisville in 1888 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The church is a member parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. It has a Latin Cross plan. The NRHP nomination document describes its front as:The main facade consists of a central gable pierced by a massive equilateral arch window, and two flanking towers of differing shapes and heights. These elements of the exterior announce the three-part division of the interior. A modest porte-cochere is attached to the square tower at the southwest corner where a spire achieves a height of 250 feet. The entrance occupies a centered position, and its arched portion is enveloped by a rather plain accolade, as is the entrance to the square tower.
