Collairnie Castle

The Secret Garden is an outdoor nursery school in Letham, Fife, Scotland, for children aged 3–7 years. It is a forest kindergarten in which children walk to a woodland every day, in almost any weather. They use the natural resources they find there rather than modern toys (although with some additional equipment) to learn according to the government educational framework under the heading "Nature as Teacher". The Secret Garden was started in 2008 by Cathy Bache, a drama and primary teacher and parent of three. Before opening this, she provided childcare to a smaller number of children, and developed her ideas during this time. Forest kindergartens were started in the 1950s and became popular in Germany in the 1990s.

Letham is a small village in Fife, Scotland, located just off the A92, around 5 miles from Cupar. According to the 2001 Census, Letham has 138 residents, although this has without a doubt increased in the previous years. Its school, Letham Primary School, educates around 35 pupils, between the ages of 5 and 12. The school building itself is over 130 years old, and built mainly from sandstone which was quarried only 200 metres away from the school. Cunnoquhie House is a late 18th-century classical mansion located just north of Letham. It was built for George Paterson of Cunnoquhie, and is a category A listed building.

Parbroath Castle is a ruined castle which was the former seat of Clan Seton near Parbroath farm, Creich, Fife, Scotland. Only a portion of a vault standing in a field still exists.The building was designated a Category C listed building in 1984.In March 1512 James IV of Scotland granted Parbroath to John Seton and Alexander Seton of Parbroath and his daughter Jonet. The lands had been held by the crown for the previous fifty years.David Seton of Parbroath was comptroller of the Scottish exchequer for James VI and Chamberlain of Dunfermline for Anne of Denmark in 1590.

Fernie Castle is an enlarged sixteenth-century tower house in north-east Fife, Scotland. Originally built in an L-plan layout, it was later extended to include a three floor block which included a round tower at one of the corners. Situated just east of the village of Letham, the castle is now primarily used as a hotel which also caters to weddings.When the Chinese real state company MDJM Ltd completed its acquisition on 26 June 2023, it was announced that the 14th century tower house had undergone a renovation process and got the chance to offer weddings with 180 guests.

Norman's Law is a prominent hill at the far eastern end of the Ochil Fault, Scotland. It sits above the south bank of the River Tay, around four miles north west of Cupar. Around the summit cairn of Norman's Law are the remains of an Iron Age hill fort and settlement, owing to the hill's commanding views over the surrounding countryside and the defensive advantage provided by the steep slopes surrounding the summit. The hill fort is a designated scheduled monument.The summit of Norman's Law is easily accessible; the shortest ascent is from NO310209, about a mile west of the village of Brunton; a waymarked path to the summit starts in the village of Luthrie NO331196. There are extensive views of Central Scotland and the Grampian Mountains. On a clear day, one can see as far as Lochnagar to the north, Ben More (Crianlarich) to the west and the Moorfoot Hills to the south. The Norman's Law hill race is held annually by Fife AC and begins at the nearby village of Luthrie.

Dunbog is a parish in the county of Fife in Scotland which is now (since 1983) united with the neighbouring parish of Abdie, Dunbog kirk closing at that time. The name of the parish possibly derives from the Scottish Gaelic, Dùn Bolg, meaning "bag fort" or "bag-like, rounded hill" although no fortification has been identified on Dunbog Hill. The parish is of entirely rural character, with small hamlets of houses at Dunbog and Glenduckie. These were formerly the settlements of farm workers, but the current inhabitants have many occupations. Dunbog parish is bounded on the north by the River Tay, on the south by Monimail, on the east by Flisk and Creich, and on the west by Abdie. The Barony of Denboig/Dunbog was established in 1687. The nearest town of any size is Newburgh. It has a small primary school with approximately fifty children, and a village hall owned by a community trust which also owns the park and playing field next door. In 1577 Jane de la Ramvell, Lady Creich, the mother of Mary Beaton one of the Four Maries who attended Mary Queen of Scots, died at the "Place of Dunbog". Anne of Denmark rode from Falkland Palace and stayed on 20 August 1599.The remains of Collairnie Castle which belonged to the Barclay family are also in Dunbog parish.

The Palace of Monimail, also known as Monimail Tower, was a Renaissance palace in Fife, Scotland. A residence of the Archbishops of St Andrews from the 13th century, in the early 17th century Monimail became a chief seat of the Melville family. Lord Monimail is one of the subsidiary titles of the Leslie-Melville Earls of Leven. It was abandoned in the late 17th century and subsequently most of the palace was demolished. One tower remains standing in the grounds of Melville House near the village of Monimail, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of Ladybank.

Melville House is a 1697 house that lies to the south side of the Palace of Monimail near Collessie in Fife, Scotland. It has been a school and a training base for Polish soldiers who had arrived in Scotland after the 51st Highland Division had been forced to surrender at Saint-Valery-en-Caux in 1940.The building was the most expensive building in Britain ever reclaimed by a bank.

Mount Hill rises from the rolling farmland about three miles north west of Cupar in North East Fife, Scotland. On its summit stands the 29-metre (95 ft) high Hopetoun Monument, which is visible for many miles around. The Hopetoun Monument was erected by the people of Cupar in 1826 in memory of the British soldier John Hope, 4th Earl of Hopetoun (1765–1823). The monument takes the form of a giant Roman Doric column, and is protected as a category B listed building. The inscription on the monument reads: "To perpetuate the memory of John 4th Earl of Hopetoun who died 16 August 1823, this memorial is erected by the inhabitants of Fife MDCCCXXVI" Prior to succeeding to the earldom, John Hope served at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801 and, later, in the Peninsular War (1808–1814) where he was knighted for his heroic deeds at the Battle of Corunna. There is another similar Hopetoun Monument on Byres Hill near Haddington in East Lothian which was built in 1824.At present the summit of Mount Hill affords an excellent panorama due to the felling of the forestry plantation around the monument. The monument is easily accessible by forest tracks. David Lyndsay of the Mount gains his epithet from the farm on the eastern slopes.

Luthrie is a village in the parish of Creich in Fife, Scotland. A small stream shown on maps as Windygates Burn (but known locally as Luthrie Burn) flows through the village and occasionally floods.

Cairnie Hill lies at the eastern end of the Ochil Hills, above the village of Collessie Scotland. It is the highest point of a small upland area between Collesie Den and Collairnie Farm. The northern and western slopes of Cairnie Hill are quite steep and are used for rough grazing and forestry. To the south the land rises gradually from the flat Howe of Fife and is used predominantly for arable farming. Cairnie is a common place name in Fife, possibly originating from the Pictish Carden or thicket, with the addition of the Gaelic ending aigh. It is also Scots for 'hillock'. An easy route to the summit starts at NO 273153, on the B937 about 2 km south of Lindores. From here a track leads up onto the summit area, from where several paths lead to the summit.

Collessie is a village and parish of Fife, Scotland. The village is set on a small hillock centred on a historic church. Due to rerouting of roads, it now lies north of the A91. Though a railway embankment was constructed through the middle of the village in the 19th century, it retains many of its traditional 17th–18th century houses. In recent years some of the older houses have been re-roofed in traditional thatch.
