Hempton Priory

Hempton is a village and a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, along the course of the River Wensum. Hempton is 0.8 miles (1.3 km) south-west of Fakenham and 33.9 miles (54.6 km) north west of Norwich.

Fakenham West railway station was a station in Norfolk. It was built as part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway main line that ran from Saxby and Peterborough North to Yarmouth Beach, with branches to Norwich City and Cromer. The station was opened by the Lynn and Fakenham Railway on 16 August 1880, when it was originally named Fakenham Town, and was renamed Fakenham by 1910. Following railway nationalisation, it was renamed again to become Fakenham West by British Railways on 27 September 1948. The station was closed on 2 March 1959. Part of a platform from the station survives outside the car park of the Jewson builder's merchant, and the trackbed south of the platform is visible as a roadway. Fakenham was also served by another railway station, Fakenham East railway station, on the Wymondham to Wells Branch of the Great Eastern Railway. This line was unconnected to the Midland and Great Northern line through Fakenham West, which it passed over on a bridge about one mile east of Fakenham West, quarter a mile southeast of Fakenham East. Currently there are no railway links to Fakenham; however, the Norfolk Orbital Railway proposes to build a new station close to the site of Fakenham East in the future.

Toftrees is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Dunton, in the North Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. The hamlet is 2.3 miles south west of Fakenham, 27.3 miles north west of Norwich and 113 miles north north east of London. The nearest railway station is at Sheringham for the Bittern Line which runs between Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich. The nearest airport is Norwich International Airport. The village is situated on the north west side of the A1065 Fakenham to Swaffham road. In 1931 the parish had a population of 72.

Pudding Norton is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 2.30 sq mi (6.0 km2) and (including Testerton) had a population of 267 in 126 households at the 2001 census, falling to 252 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of North Norfolk. The village's name means "north farm/settlement". The origins of the affix "Pudding" are obscure. Pudding Norton civil parish contains the villages of Pudding Norton and Testerton, both of which became largely deserted by the post-medieval period. Pudding Norton village sits at the centre of the parish, and earthworks to the south and east show the previous medieval extent of the village.

Beacon Hill, Colkirk, Norfolk is a high point, once the site of a beacon forming part of a chain from the North Norfolk Coast to London. The approximate location of the beacon is two kilometres to the west of the village of Colkirk, N52:48:15 E0:49:29.

The Corn Exchange is a commercial building in the Market Place, Fakenham, Norfolk, England. The structure, which is currently used as a cinema, is a Grade II listed building.

Fakenham Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located south of Fakenham, Norfolk, England. King Charles III is patron.

The Fakenham Academy (formerly Fakenham Grammar School and Fakenham High School and College) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located at Field Lane Fakenham, Norfolk, England. The school offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study. Pupils in the sixth form can choose to study from a range of A Levels and BTECs.

Fakenham ("Fearknum"; "Fearkenham") is a market town and civil parish in Norfolk, England. It is situated on the River Wensum, about 25 miles (40 kilometres) north-west of Norwich. The town is at the junction of several local roads, including the A148 from King's Lynn to Cromer, the A1067 to Norwich and the A1065 to Swaffham. The civil parish has an area of 3.49 sq mi (9.0 km2). In the 2001 census, it had a population of 7,357 in 3,292 households; this increased to 7,617 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, the parish lies within the district of North Norfolk. and within the County of Norfolk. Fakenham has been a market town since 1250, known particularly for its corn, barley and wheat trading; in the 19th century, it became noted for its printing. Fakenham Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue to the south of the town. The town has a long name of Fakenham Lancaster which derives from the ownership of the manor in 1377 being transferred to John of Gaunt, the Duke of Lancaster. The name continues to be used today, including on recently placed history trail plaques around the town; it is also used to name the town's two wards, for the purpose of electing councillors to North Norfolk District Council: Lancaster North and Lancaster South. The town is part of the County Division of Fakenham and the Raynhams for the purpose of electing a county councillor to Norfolk County Council.

Sculthorpe is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village is some 4 km (2.5 mi) north-west of Fakenham and 5 km (3.1 mi) south-east of South Creake. The village's name means 'Skuli's outlying farm/settlement'. The civil parish has an area of 8.52 km2 (3.29 sq mi) and in 2001 had a population of 744 in 312 households, the population increasing to 751 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of North Norfolk. The former water mill, about a mile south of the parish church, is now a pub and restaurant, but some of the workings remain visible. The large airfield of RAF Sculthorpe lies immediately to the west of the village. Sculthorpe Moor Community Nature Reserve lies to the south of the village in Turf Moor Road The Village also has a second pub called The Sculthorpe Aviator.

Shereford is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Dunton, in the North Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. It is located about 4 kilometres (2 mi) west of the market town of Fakenham. It lies on the east bank of the River Wensum facing Dunton across the river. In 1931 the parish had a population of 97. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Dunton. The villages name means 'Bright/clear ford'. Shereford St. Nicholas is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk.

Fakenham East railway station was a railway station in the market town of Fakenham in the English county of Norfolk. The station was opened by the Norfolk Railway on 20 March 1849 and was originally named Fakenham. Following nationalisation, it was renamed Fakenham East by British Railways on 27 September 1948; it was closed to passengers on 5 October 1964 and completely in 1980. This station is one of the possible sites protected in local plans, if needed as part of the Norfolk Orbital Railway's long-term plans to return trains to Fakenham. Any replacement station would be built on the throat of the original site, as sheltered housing has been built on the main station site. Other developments north of the former station make further extension impractical; instead the 'Norfolk Orbital' scheme proposes reopening towards the North Norfolk line at Holt and the Mid-Norfolk line at County School. The railway formation south of the station, as far as the three-arch viaduct over the River Wensum, is now owned by the Norfolk Orbital Railway. There was also a Fakenham West railway station, on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway between King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth, which closed in 1959.
