Newmarket Workshops in Auckland was a major New Zealand Railways Department facility, one of 13 workshops nationwide. It was one of two main railway workshops of Auckland, used mainly for maintenance; the older facility at Newmarket was replaced in 1929 by Otahuhu Workshops.

Newmarket (Māori: Niumākete) is an Auckland suburb to the south-east of the central business district. With its high building density, especially of retail shops, it is considered New Zealand's premier retailing area, and a rival of local competitor Auckland CBD. While as early as 1873, Newmarket has been referred to as a 'suburb' of Auckland, in fact until the amalgamation of the borough councils into Auckland City Council in 1989, local governance was by the Newmarket Borough Council, with its own Mayor. The borough, while one of the smallest in the Auckland Region, was also one of the busiest. This is especially true of Broadway, the main street, which has large shopping centres and smaller retail tenancies (with a total of over 400 stores as of mid-2010), two movie theatres, and numerous restaurants, bars and cafés.

Westfield Newmarket is a shopping centre in Newmarket, a central suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. The centre initially opened in the 1980s; in early 2018, the centre closed for a major re-build and expansion; it re-opened in August 2019 after an 18 month closure. The centre is located at 277 Broadway and, since expansion, 309 Broadway; it was often referred to simply as 277 prior to refurbishment.

Southern Cross Auckland Surgical Centre is a private day-stay hospital in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. It is run by the Southern Cross group. It was established as a private hospital in 1987 (New Zealand's first facility purpose-built for such a use) and was taken over by Southern Cross in 2005.It has 4 operating theatres, two recovery rooms and a 10-bed overnight stay facility. It employs around 90 staff and services 6,000 patients a year. Several specialists also have consultation rooms at the centre.

The Newmarket Viaduct is a seven-lane state highway viaduct in Auckland, New Zealand. The 700 m long viaduct, which is up to 20 m high, carries the Southern Motorway over the Newmarket suburb.

Highwic is a 19th-century house in Auckland, New Zealand, which is listed by Heritage New Zealand as a Category I structure. The house was built in 1862 for Alfred Buckland, a wealthy colonial settler and landowner. The building sits in an elevated position above Newmarket.

The Bassett Road machine-gun murders were the murders of two men with a .45 calibre Reising submachine gun on 7 December 1963, at 115 Bassett Road, in the Auckland suburb of Remuera in New Zealand. The crime received considerable media attention and captured the public imagination for many years. Although the weapon was set to single and not rapid-fire for the killings, word spread quickly of a "Chicago-style" gang murder previously unheard of in New Zealand.

St. Michael's Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. It is known for its heritage parish church completed in 1933. The parish also operates St Michael's Catholic School, an integrated primary school established in 1916.

ACG Parnell College is an independent co-educational facility and is part of ACG Schools, whose New Zealand schools are members of the Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ). The school is located in the suburb of Parnell in Auckland, New Zealand. The school offers the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and International Baccalaureate. The school is also a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in New Zealand. ACG Parnell College is split up into four campuses - Early Learning School on 110 Park Road, Primary School Campuses on 39 George Street, Middle School Campus on 2 Titoki Street (Main ACG Parnell College building) and a Senior Campus on 9 Davis Crescent.

Newmarket Park is an approximately 6 ha large park in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located in the triangle between three suburbs, northeast of the Newmarket, southeast of Parnell and northwest of Remuera. It is located partially on a higher, man-made plateau, with the remainder of the park dropping steeply down towards Newmarket Stream running to Hobson Bay along the eastern edge of the park. In the early 2010s, a major remediation and upgrade of the park occurred.

Kaitiaki is a public sculpture located in the Auckland Domain in Auckland, New Zealand, created by New Zealand sculptor Fred Graham. The 11.8 metres (39 ft) tall piece depicts a kāhu pōkere (harrier hawk), a bird that features as a guardian in Ngāti Whātua and Tainui oral histories. Developed as a part of the Auckland Domain Sculpture Walk, the sculpture was unveiled in 2004.

The Parnell Tunnel is a railway tunnel under Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand. It is 344.5 metres (1,130 ft) long, and is on the Newmarket Line. The tunnel allows the Western, Southern and Onehunga lines coming from the Newmarket Train Station to Britomart Transport Centre to pass under the Parnell Ridge before dropping to harbour level. There are two Parnell Tunnels, an older now unused single-track tunnel and a newer double-track tunnel which superseded it. The older tunnel was closed off and has not been in use for most of the last century. The older tunnel, originally intended in part to provide a connection to Drury for the New Zealand Wars, has been lauded as having enabled the first public railway line in Auckland, and opening the city up to the wider New Zealand.
