Kelston Girls’ College (KGC) is a single-sex girls state secondary school in Kelston, a suburb in West Auckland, New Zealand. It was created in 1963 when the roll of Kelston High School (formed in 1954) became too large for the site on the corner of Archibald and Great North Roads. The boys moved to a new site further down Archibald Road and the original site became the home of Kelston Girls' High School (now Kelston Girls' College).

Ko Taku Reo: Deaf Education New Zealand is located in Archibald Road, New Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand. It is a residential special school for deaf children, as well as a resource centre providing services and support for mainstream students, students in provisions and the teachers in New Zealand. The Kelston School for the Deaf was established in 1958, as the Kelston School for Deaf Children. It replaced the schools for the deaf at Mount Wellington and Lopdell House in Titirangi. It changed its name to Kelston Deaf Education Centre in 1991 to better reflect the wide range of services it provided. At the start of the third term of 2020 the school merged with the Van Asch Deaf Education Centre to form Ko Taku Reo, a national school for Deaf Education.

Croydon Road railway station was a train station in Auckland, New Zealand. It opened circa December 1911. It was on the Western Line and was between Fruitvale Road station and Glen Eden station. The station closed at the same time as the St George's Street and Westbrook stations, also on the Western Line, on a six-month trial basis on 18 August 1980, with the closure being made permanent on 16 August 1981.

Great North Road is a major thoroughfare in Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand. It runs from the fringe of the Auckland CBD to West Auckland. The road is the second longest in Auckland, after its counterpart, Great South Road, and is named after the Great North Road in Britain. In the days before the Auckland Harbour Bridge, Northern Motorway and Northwestern Motorway were built, it was the main road route from central Auckland to the areas north of the Auckland isthmus. In the 1960s, it carried 25,000–30,000 vehicles a day.It begins as a continuation of Karangahape Road from the latter's terminus with Ponsonby Road and Newton Road, and passes through the western suburbs of Arch Hill, Grey Lynn, Western Springs, Point Chevalier, Waterview, Avondale, New Lynn, Kelston, Glendene and Henderson before becoming Swanson Road at the intersection with Lincoln Road. Contrary to its name, the road actually heads west for most of its route, turning to a more north-westerly direction at Kelston. Located on or within walking distance from Great North Road are notable Auckland attractions such as the Museum of Transport and Technology and Auckland Zoo, as well as two major shopping malls, LynnMall and Westfield WestCity. The road is served by several bus routes linking Auckland with these attractions and the suburbs of west Auckland.

Kelston is a residential suburb of West Auckland, New Zealand. Originally a ceramics manufacturing centre, the area is now mostly residential, including a number of schools. Kelston is located in, and its name has been given to, the Kelston parliamentary electorate.

Kelston Boys' High School ("KBHS") (Māori: Te Kura Tuaruā o ngā Tamatane o Kerehana) is an all-boys state secondary school in Kelston, a suburb in the Waitakere region of Auckland, New Zealand. It was created in 1963 when the roll of Kelston High School (formed in 1954) became too large for the site on the corner of Archibald and Gt North Rds. The boys moved to a new site further down Archibald Road, leaving the original site to be the home of Kelston Girls High School (now Kelston Girls' College). Although the school is known for the strength of its various sports teams, it has also had some notable achievements in music, dance and theatresports and produced some outstanding academic results. The school has consistently had strong rugby teams in the top Auckland division, producing several All Blacks and international players. Kelston Boys have won the National top 4 rugby tournament five times (1989, 1995, 1996, 1999, and 2011) sharing the most wins with Wesley College. Kelston Boys have also won the Condor National sevens tournament five times (2002, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013). The former All Black coach Graham Henry is a former headmaster. The previous principal, who retired in April 2011, Stephen Watt played for the Auckland regional team in the 1970s (where he was affectionately nicknamed 'The Kicking Prop' for his unusual goalkicking prowess). Brian Evans was the former principal; he coached the women's Black Ferns national side to rugby world cup victory in 2010. Currently, the principal of Kelston Boys' High School is Adeline Blair, who became the first woman to head a state boys' school in Auckland. Adeline Blair has been teaching at Kelston Boys' High School since 2002 but began teaching English for adults in the school's community education division in 1996.Long-standing Member of Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives Jonathan Hunt taught history at Kelston Boys'.

Te Toi Uku – Crown Lynn & Clayworks Museum is a community focused museum located in New Lynn, Auckland. The museum focuses on sharing West Auckland's ceramic history and preserving the history of New Zealand ceramics manufacturer, Crown Lynn.

Glen Eden railway station is located on the Western Line of the AT Metro rail network in Auckland, New Zealand. The station house is a local historical landmark that was restored in 2001. A cafe is located in the old station building.

The Whau Local Board is one of the 21 local boards of the Auckland Council. It is the only local board overseen by the council's Whau Ward councillor. The Whau board, named after the Whau River estuary which runs through the board area, covers the suburbs of Avondale, Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay, Kelston, New Lynn and New Windsor.The board consists of seven members elected at large. The inaugural members were elected in the nationwide 2010 local elections, coinciding with the introduction of the Auckland Council.

Waitākere Ranges Local Board is one of the 21 local boards of the Auckland Council, and is one of the two boards overseen by the council's Waitākere Ward councillors. The board's administrative area includes the suburbs of Titirangi, Glen Eden and Konini and the towns of Te Henga (Bethells Beach), Piha, Karekare, Huia and Laingholm, and covers the area from Waitākere Ranges to O'Neill Bay. The total population residing in the board's area, in the 2013 New Zealand census, was 48,396.The board is governed by six board members elected at-large. The inaugural members were elected in the nationwide 2010 local elections, coinciding with the introduction of the Auckland Council.

New Lynn is a residential suburb in West Auckland, New Zealand, located 10 kilometres to the southwest of the Auckland city centre. The suburb is located along the Whau River, one of the narrowest points of the North Island, and was the location of Te Tōanga Waka, a traditional waka portage between the Waitematā and Manukau harbours. The settlement developed in the early 20th century due to the brick and pottery industry, and in 1963 became a major commercial centre for Auckland with the opening of LynnMall, the first American-style shopping centre in New Zealand. Since 2010, New Lynn has been the focus of large-scale urban development, with the introduction of medium and high density housing close to the town centre and train station.

New Lynn War Memorial Library (Māori: Te Pātaka Kōrero o Te Rewarewa) is a public library located in New Lynn, West Auckland, New Zealand. Opening in 1956 as part of a planned community centre precinct and World War I memorial, the original library was demolished and redeveloped in 2005. Memorial Square at the entrance to the museum was redeveloped in 1998 to a design by landscape architect Megan Wraight. The square incorporates brick columns and a sunken waka sculpture, added in 2000 and designed by Te Kawerau ā Maki carvers Sunnah Thompson and Rewi Spraggon.
