The Ore Mountain Mining Region (officially Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region; German: Montanregion Erzgebirge, Czech: Hornický region Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří) is an industrial heritage landscape, over 800 years old, in the border region of the Ore Mountains between the German state of Saxony and North Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It is characterised by a plethora of historic, largely original, monuments to technology, as well as numerous individual monuments and collections related to the historic mining industry of the region. On 6 July 2019, the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, because of its exceptional testimony to the advancement of mining technology over the past 800 years.

The Blatenský vrch (German: Plattenberg) is one of the mountains over 1,000 metres high in the Ore Mountains of Central Europe in the immediate vicinity of Horní Blatná (Platten mining town).

Horní Blatná (German: Bergstadt Platten) is a town in Karlovy Vary District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants. The town is historically associated with tin mining and is located in the Ore Mountain Mining Region, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone.

Merklín (German: Merkelsgrün) is a municipality and village in Karlovy Vary District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 900 inhabitants.

The Božídarský Špičák (German: Gottesgaber Spitzberg) is the third highest mountain of the Ore Mountains. It lies in the Czech Republic near the highest town in Central Europe, Boží Dar.

Neurohlau (Czech: Koncentrační tábor Nová Role) was a subcamp of Flossenbürg concentration camp, mainly for women prisoners of several European nationalities including Czech, Soviet, Yugoslavian, Belgian, Polish, and German. It was located on the edge of the municipality Neurohlau (now Nová Role) in the historical territory of Sudetenland (in the present-day Czech Republic). The Germans founded the camp in the autumn of 1942 and closed it in April 1945. Its main purpose was providing workers for the nearby Bohemia porcelain factory. At least 41 prisoners died in the camp (unearthed from the mass grave in June 1945); about 500 died during the death march out in April 1945; an unknown number died after their deportation back to the mother camps (Ravensbrück and Flossenbürg); and some others were burnt in the camp in Karlovy Vary. After World War II, the camp served as a collecting camp for prisoners of war before their removal to Germany.

Nová Role (German: Neurohlau) is a town in Karlovy Vary District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 4,200 inhabitants.
