Humberston Academy

Humberston is a village and civil parish south of Cleethorpes in North East Lincolnshire, England.

Humberston Abbey was an abbey in Humberston, Lincolnshire, England. The Benedictine Abbey of Saint Mary and Saint Peter was founded in 1160 by William son of Ralf, son of Drogo, son of Hermer, as an abbey of the Tironensian Order. In 1305 the monastic buildings were destroyed by fire, and the brethren were obliged to beg alms and sell the advowson of one of their churches to the prior of Holy Trinity, Norwich before they could rebuild them. It adopted Benedictine orders sometime after 1413, as the Bishop of Lincoln in 1422 said that the monks of Humberston took their origin from St. Mary's, Hamby in the Diocese of Coutances. The abbey was never taken into the king's hands as an Alien house.The abbey was dissolved in 1536. The abbey buildings were located to the south of St Peter's Church in Humberston.

Cleethorpes Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, based in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, England. The school opened in September 2010, on the site previously occupied by the Lindsey School and Community Arts College. Cleethorpes Academy is owned and operated by Tollbar MAT, an educational trust formed in May 2012 as a group of schools in the Lincolnshire LEA. The decision to close the Lindsey School and open Cleethorpes Academy, came after the former was placed in special measures by Ofsted, the Government appointed schools inspectorate.

The Sports Ground is a cricket ground in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1961, when Lincolnshire Colts played Derbyshire Juniors.In 1969, Lincolnshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match at the ground against Staffordshire. From 1969 to present, the ground has hosted 25 Minor Counties Championship matches and 6 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the last of which came in 2002 when Lincolnshire played the Leicestershire Cricket Board.The ground has hosted a number of first-class matches, the first of which came in the 1980 County Championship when Nottinghamshire played Worcestershire. A combined Minor Counties team played a single first-class match at the ground in 1985 against the touring Zimbabweans. Between 1980 and 1990, Nottinghamshire played 4 first-class matches at the ground, including the final first-class match to date at the ground which came against the touring Sri Lankans in 1990.The ground has also played host to List-A matches. The first List-A match saw Minor Counties North play Nottinghamshire in the 1972 Benson and Hedges Cup. Nottinghamshire have played 5 List-A matches at the ground, including the final one to date to be held at the ground, which came against Durham in 2004. Lincolnshire have also used the match for a single List-A match, which came in the 2000 NatWest Trophy when they played Lancashire.In local domestic cricket, the Sports Ground is the home venue of Cleethorpes Cricket Club who play in the Yorkshire ECB County Premier League.

The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is a 15 in (381 mm) minimum-gauge railway that primarily serves holidaymakers in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, England. It operates from near the Cleethorpes Leisure Centre, running to the mouth of the Buck Beck.

The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway was founded in 1948 as the Cleethorpes Miniature Railway. The railway has operated every summer since 1948. It has never been longer than 2 km, but it has undergone complex changes of ownership, management, motive power, locomotives, rolling stock, gauge, length, route and stations. Cleethorpes () is a seaside town on the estuary of the Humber in North East Lincolnshire, England with a population of 38,372 in 2020. It has been permanently occupied since the 6th century, with fishing as its original industry, then developing into a resort in the 19th century. Before becoming a unified town, Cleethorpes was made up of the three small villages of Itterby, Oole and Thrunscoe. The town lies on the Greenwich meridian and its average annual rainfall is amongst the lowest in the British Isles. In 2021, The Trainline named Cleethorpes beach the second best seaside destination in the UK that is reachable by train, just behind Margate.

Pleasure Island Family Theme Park was a theme park in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, England. It was commonly known as Pleasure Island. The park opened on 27 May 1993. It was originally a subsidiary of Flamingo Land Ltd. Pleasure Island became independent of Flamingo Land in May 2010 and was owned and operated by DewarSavile Enterprises Ltd until closing at the end of the 2016 season.

Matthew Humberstone Church of England School, also known as the Matthew Humberstone School, Matthew Humberstone C of E School, Matthew Humberstone Comprehensive School, MHS and Matty, was a secondary school in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire, England, with a Church of England tradition. It existed between 1973 until it was closed due to amalgamation in 2010. The school was established as a comprehensive school in September 1973, later becoming a specialist Business and Enterprise College (BEC). It was the only Church of England secondary school in North East Lincolnshire, formed through the amalgamation of Beacon Hill Secondary School and Humberston(e) Foundation School. The school remained in this form until September 2010, when it transformed into Saint Andrew's College (a joint church school), based at the Matthew Humberstone Upper site on Chatsworth Place. (St Andrew's College became the Holy Family Catholic Academy in September 2013, before closing in July 2017 and reopening as Beacon Academy, sponsored by the Wellspring Academy Trust.) The Clee Grammar School buildings on Clee Road, which were occupied until closure in 2008 by Matthew Humberstone School, remained empty until 2017, when the process of transforming them into a primary school began. Demolition of blocks built in the 1950s and remodelling of the remainder created the Bursar Primary Academy, replacing the Bursar Primary School.

Beacon Academy is a coeducational secondary school sponsored by the Wellspring Academy Trust, in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire. Beacon Academy opened on 1 September 2017. The Wellspring Academy Trust was granted sponsorship of the academy on 1 March 2017. The academy is situated in the Beacon Hill area of Cleethorpes.
