Norrmalmstorg (pronounced [nɔrmalmsˈtɔrj]) is a town square in central Stockholm, Sweden. It connects shopping streets Hamngatan and Biblioteksgatan and is the starting point for tram travellers with the Djurgården line. Close to the southwest is the park Kungsträdgården. In the Swedish edition of Monopoly, Norrmalmstorg is the most expensive lot.The square is famous for the 1973 Norrmalmstorg robbery, in which events gave name to the Stockholm syndrome. The building in question is now occupied by the Nobis Hotel Stockholm.

The Norrmalmstorg robbery was a bank robbery and hostage crisis best known as the origin of the term Stockholm syndrome. It occurred at the Norrmalmstorg Square in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 1973 and was the first criminal event in Sweden to be covered by live television. Jan-Erik Olsson was a convicted criminal who had disappeared while on furlough from prison and then held up a bank and took four hostages. During the negotiations that followed, Swedish Minister of Justice Lennart Geijer allowed Olsson's former cellmate and friend Clark Olofsson to be brought from prison to the bank. Although Olofsson was a long-time career criminal, it is unlikely that he was in league with Olsson. Famously, the hostages then bonded with their captors and appeared to protect them. It is noted however that the hostages were in fact simply distrustful of the police and their willingness to risk the hostages' lives. Police finally mounted a tear-gas attack five days into the crisis, and the robbers surrendered. Olsson was sentenced to 10 years for the robbery, and Olofsson was ultimately acquitted. The seemingly paradoxical actions of the hostages led to a great deal of academic and public interest in the case, including a 2003 Swedish television film titled Norrmalmstorg, a 2018 Canadian film titled Stockholm and a 2022 Swedish Netflix television series Clark .

Östermalmstorg metro station is station on the red line of the Stockholm metro, located in the district of Östermalm. The station was opened on 16 May 1965 as the 59th station in the Stockholm system as the north terminus of the extension from T-Centralen. On 2 September 1967, the line was extended northeast to Ropsten. On 30 September 1973, another extension, north to Tekniska högskolan, was opened. The platform is approximately 38 metres (125 ft) below the surface. It is located in the city center, making it one of the most-used stations in the system, with approximately 38,550 people travelling from the station on an average workday.The station was built by the cut-and-cover method and formed the first part of the extension of the red line north of T-Centralen. Nearby stations include Stadion (T14) and Karlaplan. Stockholm Central Station is about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) away. The station has two main accessible exits, one by Östermalmstorg and one by Stureplan. The major artwork of the subway station was created by Siri Derkert and symbolises women's rights, world peace, and the green movement. It was designed to function as a shelter in the event of nuclear war.

Chinateatern or commonly known as "China" (in English: The China Theatre) is a private theatre in Stockholm, Sweden, located at Berzelii Park in Stockholm city. Originally built 1928 as a movie theatre but has over the years simultaneously been used as a theatre stage for revues, comedies and musical shows. It was very popular in the 1980s and the stage has during various periods been used by different established Swedish theatres, one being Dramaten. Chinateatern is situated next to the Stockholm restaurant Berns Salonger.

Konstnärshuset (literally Artists' House) is a building in central Stockholm, Sweden. It is owned by the Swedish Artists Association (Svenska konstnärernas förening) and is used as an art gallery.

Norrlandsgatan is a street at Norrmalm, Stockholm. The street stretches from Birger Jarlsgatan to Hamngatan. The restaurant Fontainebleau was located at Norrlandsgatan until it was destroyed in a bombing on 31 December 1982.

Hallwyl Museum (Swedish: Hallwylska museet) is a Swedish national museum housed in the historical Hallwyl House in central Stockholm located on 4, Hamngatan facing Berzelii Park. The house once belonged to the Count and Countess von Hallwyl, but was donated to the Swedish state in 1920 to eventually become a museum. In 1938, the museum was officially opened.

Berns Salonger is a restaurant and entertainment venue, in Berzelii Park, in central Stockholm, Sweden. The building was constructed from 1862 to 1863 by the architect Johan Fredrik Åbom for Robert Berns and extended in 1886. Berns often holds concerts and other shows and has a capacity of 1,200. Berns is the setting for the Strindberg novel The Red Room.

Sturehof is a seafood and shellfish restaurant located on the Stureplan in central Stockholm, Sweden.

Berzelii Park is a small park in central Stockholm, Sweden. The park is the location of the China Theater (Chinateatern), and the Berns Salonger Restaurant and Theater.

Saint Eugenia's Church is a Roman Catholic church in the center of Stockholm (Sweden). It was built in 1982 on plans of the Danish architect Jørgen Kjaergaard and is situated next to the former Royal Gardens, Kungsträdgården in Norrmalm. The Church is consecrated to Saint Eugenia (Eugénie d’Alsace), an abbess (700-735) of the monastery Mont Sainte-Odile in Alsace (France). St. Eugenia's Parish was established in 1837 and is the oldest Catholic parish in Sweden since the reformation; as of 2010 it has approximately 9,000 members. Services are held in Swedish, English, Polish and Arabic. The operation of the church and pastoral care of the parish is overseen by Jesuits.
