European Energy Centre

The Renewable Energy Institute is the global professional and educational body for the renewable energy and low carbon sectors. Its focus is education and professional membership for those working and upskilling to work in renewable energy, energy storage, energy efficiency, energy conservation, hydrogen energy, electric vehicles. The Renewable Energy Institute is the first Renewable Energy Institute in the Western Hemisphere. The Renewable Energy Institute, in cooperation with the affiliated European Energy Centre, European Centre of Technology and Centro Studi Galileo, runs a biennial European Conference on renewable energy, heating and cooling applications. The institute was founded to assist with renewable energy education, training and conferences and to help develop a workforce capable of designing, installing, repairing and maintaining renewable energy equipment and managing renewable energy projects.The Renewable Energy Institute, European Energy Centre, European Centre of Technology and Centro Studi Galileo work with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) the Intergovernmental International Institute of Refrigeration and Centro Studi Galileo, along with Universities such as Edinburgh Napier University and Heriot-Watt University in promoting the use of renewable energy technologies across the United Kingdom. The Renewable Energy Institute is also active European-wide with workshops and conferences in renewable energy, Heating and Cooling technologies, see the 14th European Conference at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. The European Centre of Technology (ECT) Institute is a Professional Body created in 1975 and its focus is engineering, marketing, finance education, and upskilling in order to create a workforce capable of promoting and supporting engineering topics including energy, efficiency and renewable energy. The ECT is also the first Renewable Energy Institute in Europe and in the Western Hemisphere.The European Centre of Technology (ECT), along with the European Energy Centre (EEC) work with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) the Intergovernmental International Institute of Refrigeration and Centro Studi Galileo, along with major Universities such as Edinburgh Napier University and Heriot-Watt University in promoting marketing and financial topics to engineers across the United Kingdom and Europe in general. The European Centre of Technology (ECT) is also active European-wide in upskilling Energy Engineers with conferences in engineering, renewable energy, marketing and finance, see the 14th European Conference at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.The training activities of the European Centre of Technology (ECT) and Centro Studi Galileo (CSG) are also welcomed and shared through their partners.The European Centre of Technology (ECT) is also active in India through the European Energy Centre (EEC) with training courses and conferences with its Indian Partner TERRE Policy Centre.

Edinburgh Business School (EBS) is the Graduate School of Business of Heriot-Watt University (est. 1821), Edinburgh, Scotland. Heriot-Watt University awards degrees by royal charter. Heriot-Watt University was ranked as the 3rd best British university to study economics by Business Insider in 2017, and featured in the Academic Ranking of World Universities Top 200 to study Finance and in the QS World University Rankings Top 200 to study Statistics & Operational Research. There are currently over 11,850 active students studying Edinburgh Business School programmes and more than 19,200 graduates across 165 countries worldwide.

Riccarton is an area in Edinburgh's Green Belt, in Scotland. It is mainly undeveloped, with much farmland and few houses. Riccarton is to the west of the Edinburgh City Bypass (the A720), and is known for being the location of Heriot-Watt University's main campus, including Oriam, Scotland's National Performance Centre for Sport which opened to the public in August 2016. There have been a number of controversies over potential development in the area in recent years.The area is bordered by Currie, Juniper Green and Curriehill to the south, The Calders (Wester Hailes) to the east, and Hermiston to the north.

Oriam is Scotland's national performance centre for sport, based at Heriot-Watt University's Riccarton campus in Edinburgh. The Scottish Rugby Union and the Scottish Football Association use it as a training facility, Heart of Midlothian F.C. rent the centre for first-team training and to run their academy. It is also used by other sports teams, students and members of the public.

Curriehill railway station is located in Currie, a southwestern suburb of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, not far from the main campus of Heriot-Watt University. It lies on the Shotts Line, which runs from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverley by way of Shotts. The station has two platforms, connected by a stairway footbridge, and is equipped with CCTV. It is managed by ScotRail.

Curriehill (Scots: Curriehull, Scottish Gaelic: Cnoc a' Churraich) is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is north-west of Currie. Curriehill railway station is the western terminus of the Edinburgh Crossrail. These trains continue to Glasgow Central via West Lothian and North Lanarkshire.

Hermiston is a hamlet formerly in the County of Midlothian and now part of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is north of the Heriot-Watt University Riccarton Campus and west of the Hermiston Quay commercial development. Hermiston is bounded by the A71 Calder Road to the south and the Union Canal to the north with the M8 motorway just beyond. The hamlet forms the Hermiston Conservation Area. Hermiston is also notable as the setting of the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, Weir of Hermiston. The city of Hermiston, Oregon in turn takes its name from the book.

Currie Community High School is a six-year comprehensive school serving the south-west of the City of Edinburgh, Scotland. The school roll currently stands at 727 of whom 20% attend as a result of parental placing requests. The school's feeder primary schools are Currie Primary School, Nether Currie Primary School and Juniper Green Primary School. Several Labour Party politicians have made visits, including former First Minister Henry McLeish, also more recently First Minister Jack McConnell, Sarah Boyack and David Miliband. It has also been visited by William Hague and Malcolm Rifkind. The school is a Community High School, offering classes, activities and events to the local community.

Currie railway station was opened in 1874 and served the area of the village of Currie that now forms part of the city of Edinburgh. Although primarily built as a goods line to serve the many mills on the Water of Leith, a passenger service was provided by the Caledonian Railway using the Balerno Loop and after grouping by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, seeing formal closure to passenger traffic shortly after nationalisation. The station was the largest on the 'loop' line and lay in rural surroundings and had once been popular with families having a day out in the country.

Gogar railway station served the area of Gogar, Edinburgh, Scotland from 1842 to 1930 on the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway.

The Scott Russell Aqueduct is an aqueduct carrying the Union Canal over the Edinburgh City Bypass, west of Edinburgh, Scotland.
