The Government Engineering College, Gandhinagar (GECG) was public state technical university established in 2004 to give higher education in engineering and technology. The institute is recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and the Institute of Engineers (India). The college is administered by the Directorate of Technical Education of Gujarat State in Gandhinagar, and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University (GTU). Earlier, all the courses of this college were taught according to the GTU syllabus and exams were also taken by GTU but since 2013, it received autonomous status along with six other government engineering colleges and started taking exams on their own. Results and certificates are still given by GTU.In November 2007, the college moved to its new campus at Sec-28, near GEB, inaugurated by Smt. Anandiben Patel, Minister for Higher and Technical Education. It is spread over 33 acres (130,000 m2) of land..

Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India is a large Hindu temple complex inspired by Yogiji Maharaj (1892–1971) the fourth spiritual successor of Swaminarayan, and created by Pramukh Swami Maharaj (1921–2016), the fifth spiritual successor of Swaminarayan according to the BAPS denomination of Swaminarayan Hinduism. Located in the capital of Gujarat, the complex was built over 13 years and is a tribute to Swaminarayan and his life and teachings. At the center of the 23-acre complex is the Akshardham mandir, which is built from 6,000 metric tons of pink sandstone from Rajasthan. The complex's name refers to the divine abode of Swaminarayan in the BAPS philosophy; followers of Swaminarayan believe that the jiva or soul goes to Akshardham after attaining moksha, or liberation. BAPS followers worship Swaminarayan as God almighty.

On 24 September 2002, multiple Pakistani terrorists attacked the Akshardham Temple Complex in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, killing 33 (excluding the attackers) and injuring more than 80. India's National Security Guard intervened and ended the siege the next day, killing the terrorists. Six accused were later arrested by Gujarat Police. The Supreme Court acquitted all six persons in 2014.

Gujarati, an official language of Gujarat, is one of them; the others are Hindi, Sanskrit, Kutchi, Sindhi and Urdu. As of 2022, Bhagyesh Jha is the chairman of the Akademi.

Punit Van is a botanical garden located in Sector 19 in Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat in India. It was developed in 2005 by the forest department of the Government of Gujarat. The forest department has developed several acres of land where the planted trees have been associated with stars, planets and zodiac signs. Punit means holy and Van means forest in Gujarati. Thus the garden has been called a holy forest. When it was founded, almost 3500 trees were planted in it, all with an astrological significance according to Hindu mythology.
